“I wouldn’t be a good leader if I wasn’t.” Looking over her Zeke stood up straighter. “Something big? Last time something big happened there was a war. I’d like big things to stop for a while.”
Raven tsked as she walked around him. “Good kids, always thinking small.” She said, narrowing her gaze. “A war is when things get interesting. Everyone’s put to the test.”
“Then go find a fight somewhere else instead of lurking in the shadows.”
“Who died and made you the next Hera? You don’t tell me what to do.”

They all knew what was out there. Or they should have. Rhys did, they hadn’t known until they tried to come here but they did. “One of those things out there killed my father. I know it’s real.” Usually Rhys kept their mouth shut but looking at some of the others they couldn’t. People looking scared, people who were probably kids, it wasn’t something they could just see. “But you scaring people doesn’t do anything good… Everyone knows what’s out there.”
Raven had just about enough. “Everyone knows? Then why is this your first time at a training ground? You didn’t seem to be in a rush.” She growled, turning to reveal the obstacle course she’d set up. Tires they would have to hop over, swinging axes, and a five foot bed of spikes. “Since you claim to know so much, you can go first. Your monster is the Manticore. Go.”
“And I always thought Eris kids would use their powers and influence to push people’s buttons and make them use their powers in ways they shouldn’t. You’re living up to expectations as always.”
Raven smirked. “So perceptive.” She crossed her arms. “Chaos brings fun, its about time something big happened at this camp. I’m just a facilitator.”

Rhys had to be at training today. Chiron had made that very clear that they needed to do that. So when they did finally make their way to the training field it was Raven who was in charge. They knew her a little and had heard even more things. Nothing was very good but they were used to people not being very… upstanding where they were from. As she gave her speech Rhys looked around at the other campers, most of them younger than they were, and some of them seemed to be afraid of what she was saying. “Why are you trying to scare everyone?” Rhys asked looking at her, she didn’t seem this way before. But they’d seen other mentors in training and they all change.
Letting out a small laugh at her ‘find other mentors’. “Chiron said I needed to be here now. Probably because I was slacking a little but… still.” Or a lot. They weren’t interested in fighting. But they’d had Raven help them before.
Raven’s eyes settled over the one camper that had the guts to speak up after her little speech. What took her by surprise was the question they’d asked her. She narrowed her gaze, stepping forward. “Scare everyone?” She said, her voice incredulous. “You think that’s what I’m doing? Like this whole thing is some kind of movie you don’t have to take that seriously?” Raven’s gaze darkened as she looked at them. “Every second you spend outside of this camp is going to have to be spent saving your sorry ass. If you don’t know how to do that, you become lunch.” She said, her voice low as she stepped away and turned to return to her spot. “I’m not going to waste my time training people that don’t want to survive.”
“Very strong. Why’s it so pressing for you to know?”
“I don’t know, it’s just for a child of Zeus I always assumed they’d do something...more than get bossed around and give into kids so easily.”
“Personally I don’t really know you, but you certainly look like the type that would.”
“And judging by the cover is always a smart move. Fights are more my scene, not stupid jump scares.”

Long, measured strides took her to the center of the field, where gray eyes settled on a sizeable amount of campers awaiting her arrival. She stood a few feet away from them, cooly looking at the expectant faces waiting. “Welcome to training with Raven,” She said in a monotone voice. “You all probably signed up to see what this is like, to toughen yourselves up or whatever, or maybe as a dare.” She said, crossing her arms. “Half of you are going to drop out by the end of the day--the half of you that values their lives, that is. The other quarter I expect to leave by the end of the week, when we reach the fire wall.” She could already tell a few of them were unnerved. Good.
“The select few that make it through the course will come out stronger, but definitely not unscathed. Do as your told, you might make it out alive. Don’t, and you already knows how this goes. I’m not going to baby you, you can find other mentors for that.” Raven waited, narrowing her gaze. “Anyone that wants to leave can do so now.” She said, at least giving them a window of mercy.
“If you find this hilarious, then you seriously need to get some new hobbies.”
“Please, you really think I spend my time trying to scare people I care nothing about?”
“Oh I see the words Excuse and me don’t seem to be in your vocabulary, love?” She scoffed at the girl.
“Oh they are, but it’s selective wording. Like I selected to tell you to move out of the way. Remember that? You haven’t done it yet.”
“You can’t hide you got a kick of scaring me, it’s quite obvious.”
“Not a kick out of scaring you, but more like a kick out of scaring anyone. You’re not that special.”
“I know. I’m realizing this now.”
“And now you know the answer. Good luck with that.”
alex was jumping all over the cabins, springing from roof to roof. finally, she landed on the ground, right in front of someone. “hey, there. how’s it going? i’m alex.” she panted and grinned.
The girl’s happiness was obvious, and Raven took a step back just in case it was infectious. “I didn’t ask.” She said, with a roll of her eyes as she clutched the bottle in her hand. She whirled around, intending on heading straight towards her cabin to spend the night with a bottle and the internet.
“What um, What the hell did you just say?” She narrowed her eyes at the other. Not wanting her tone to come off as rude but she was tired and her voice was still rough.
“I said you’re in my way.” Raven raised a brow, giving the girl and unimpressed once-over. “I you want to take up space, go do it in your cabin.”
“More like you purposely didn’t make a sound and get a thrill at sneaking up on people.”
“That’s not something you can’t prove.”
“Far? I’ve been here for seventeen years. I mean… wind, storms, electricity…. other powers that are just from my father.”
“Yeah, and I can incite anger just like my mother, that’s not telling me anything. You’re a Zeus kid, you’ve got to be strong. But how strong?”
“Gods!” Fiona jumps as the figure of another catches her off guard. “Can you announce yourself instead of sneaking around and scaring people almost to death?”
“Because announcing myself every time I enter a room isn’t weird. Your fault if you’re jumpy.”
