Georgina had resolved that if she were to lose the prefects election, she wouldn't be bitter towards Lily. Well, she wouldn't be too bitter. She would be happy for her, and congratulate her, and then maybe slink in to the shadows and revel in the fact that she was, in fact, the best witch in her year, and nothing could take that away from her. Ever.
And just to make sure of that, and to calm herself in the midst of the castle being more crazy than usual, she was studying. It was calming, really, and it allowed her to not think about anything that had been... shall we say enraging her more than usual. She didn't have to think about the people she shared a dorm with, that freak Carmen, and Grayson's sister who insisted on calling her Gilly 2.
It was all ridiculously infuriating, but not in her little private world of studying. She'd already finished two of her assignments, one roll of parchment on language in the ancient wizarding world, and eight feet of rune translation. She was on a roll.
Her cup of tea on one side of her table, and her ink pot deliberately on the other, she started on her third. Her hand wasn't cramping, well, not yet, and her hair was mostly in tact, so she wasn't too frazzled. Opening up a large dusty volume of Standard Book of Spells, simply just to fact check, of course, she smiled to herself. This was perfect.
I'm running for Prefect.
Simple question, who do you want in charge of fifth year at this school? I have your answer: the best witch in her year. And in case you're a little bit on the slow side, that's me. I've never gotten anything less than an Exceeds Expectations, and I will ensure that nothing stupid goes down while I'm in power.
I promise to bring an intelligent, and knowledgeable viewpoint to all school meetings, and I will represent the fifth year cohort in an upstanding manner. I will be fair, and just, and I fully understand the concept of the law being exempt from passion. I will bring pride to the fifth years, and I promise you won't regret voting for me.Â
You have such a pretty face, I wouldn't mind cutting it off and using it as a mask for the ball. You wouldn't even have to buy a mask for yourself because no one would recognise the bloody mess of your face :D ⼠Melaina
Alright, I'm sensing some resentment, and possibly some hostility, too. That is very big talk, Melania, but you don't scare me.

SQUISHY~ Georgina
Grayson was glad that Georgina was the accepting kind, because otherwise they could be discussing the topic for the entirety of the day with little to no change. His clothes had gone, and he had no idea why. He was currently searching for them, but not actively so. It also made him feel better that she had agreed to keep an eye out for his clothing, so there was that.
He did feel a little bad for having snapped at her, especially when she couldâve hexed his face off and left him to pick himself up while she went on her merry way. Oddly, this made him feel better, that she stopped to give him attention in the middle of some drama-king-worthy temper tantrum, especially when she had a date. Of course, this was what friends did, and heâd never hesitated to call her a friend since heâd initially met her. In his opinion, she was a remarkable creature, intelligent and proud.
He was quiet after sheâd corrected him, as he had to process how she differentiated the terms of love. He didnât want to admit it, it sounded weird to, but he guessed she was right. He did love his friends. And she was weirding him out a bit, but it was okay, because friends did that.
âWell, I suppose I can check out the joke shop and pop in for a butterbeer, but never you fear, I wouldnât steal the heart of someone who was already spoken for. Maybe Iâll eat some candy, get wasted and end up making a fool out of myself by flirting with the first pretty thing I see. Minus Hugo, of course.â He hadnât been expecting to go to Hogsmeade, but since Georgina had asked, and he had nothing better to do, he figured he may as well go. Not with them, of course. Heâd hate to be a third wheel, but it could still be fun. Perhaps he might even run into Jules or Riley.
Georgina wasn't sure if she'd actually fixed anything. If she had even changed anything. If Grayson was just smiling for the sake of the people around her, something that she certainly was accustom to. Even if she wasn't the best sort of friend, or sister, or anything, really, she knew the art of putting on a brave face. She'd been doing it for the past sixteen years, and she would probably do it for sixteen more.
Georgina laughed, resting her other hand on Grayson's arm. "Hugo isn't that pretty," she smiled, shaking her head. "But who would be the first pretty thing you see? And I mean, if you're getting wasted, then do you really know if they're really pretty?" she teased. Even though she had never had a boyfriend before Hugo, she still did have a very appreciative eye for the pretty things. That was why she allowed her mother's rich, French husband to fill her wardrobe.
Reaching the Hogwarts entrance, she spotted a familiar head of red hair, looking awkward with his hands jammed in his pockets. "Look," she said, sighing slightly, "there's my idiot. I've got to attend to that." She let go of Grayson's arm, to stand in front of him. "How's my hair?" she asked, raising an eyebrow, and fixing her coat around her appropriately.

âStop!â he said, almost gasping for air as he ran after her. Oh man. Fuck. He kept swearing in his head. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck you, Hugo Weasley. He said. He knew something was wrong - something was obviously wrong. And he repeated yelling it out. He kept calling out her name but no, she did not stop. He had hoped that she would stop though. But he was proven wrong when all she did was continue on her way.
He paused for a moment and never being known to be quite the athletic type, he was quickly running out of air. Looking up, he saw her leaning against the wall. She was upset and Hugo knew she had every right to be.Â
He was an idiot, after all.
But he approached her slowly, gently, and almost cautiously because he was afraid that she would just bite back like some wild, untamed animal. âGeorgina,â he said with his voice barely a whisper. âIâm sorry.â
He wasnât sure if sorry was even enough, but that was all he could manage at that very moment.
Georgina put her hands on her hips, sighing, and leaned her head back against the wall. She raked her fingers through her hair, pulling out the ribbon she had used as a headband, and all the pins she'd used to secure her hair back from her face. She closed her eyes, hanging her head, her hair falling over her eyes.
She looked up and studied Hugo, listening to his apology. She stood for a while, looking up at him from the gaps in her hair that was falling over her face. She took a deep breath, and stepped toward him, burying her head into his shoulder and putting her arms around his neck. "Okay," she said, expelling a breath against him. "Okay."

Erm. First thing I happened to see? It didnât take much thinking on my part. I saw, I grabbed, I used. Couldâve been much worse, next I saw snails and worms.
Of course.Well if it's snails and worms next time, I'll be personally exterminating.

Georgie baby, how are you?
It's Georgina, Anna. Are you here to ask for more hair? You are not touching a single strand on my head, or so help me God.
So, if something drastic were to have happened with the use of magic and such incidents of the like, that may or may not have taken over the castle, say a few days ago, how long will these effects last or will they continue for an undetermined amount of time? You know, because I'm the curious type.
The frogs, Grayson. There's not point in being subtle. I inspected one of them (Megan Morrow stopped me from dissecting it) and the spell should wear off in exactly thirteen hours from right now. The frogs will all disappear. Trust me, I've been counting down. I just have one question. Why? Why frogs, Grayson? Why?
SQUISHY~ Georgina
Grayson beamed. He was glad that his plan had worked, and that Georgina no longer seemed upset with him for messing up her hair. He admitted that it had been a foolish move on his part, especially given the day. In retrospect, he was actually very surprised that heâd forgotten the Hogsmeade trip altogether, as they were his only chance to restock up on all of the fun stuff he used throughout the school year. He nodded with vigor at Georginaâs correction. Of course she was the best witch in their year, she was as finicky about her work as she was about everything else heâd seen her do or have. Except in her relationship with Hugo. It was odd seeing as Hugo seemed to be her polar opposite, but he was glad that the two seemed happy.
âErm, yeah,â he laughed, somewhat nervously. âWell, I was going to draw on Addierianaâs face because sheâd fallen asleep, but then I was naked and there were no clothes in my trunk, and I didnât know where to go to look for them, so I pulled down the curtains and wrapped them around me and turned them into a toga and-â Here he paused to take in a breath. â-and then I went through the castle looking for my clothes and they were on the ceilings of everywhere, apparently, so if you see clothes on the ceilings and or the roof - or anywhere, really - theyâre probably mine and I would desperately like them back so keep and eye out, yeah?â He had a severe lack of clothing these days, so he took to alternating which he wore under his school robes, and hoped that the house elves didnât mind the extra work.
When she directed the attention back to the weather, he looked out of the window again. âSnowâs okay. I donât like when it gets in my shoes or being buried in it, but the rest is good.â His mind had traveled the same route Georginaâs had, and he was already thinking about staging the schoolâs biggest snowball fight in history, provided the people he asked were game. His thoughts were already lightening when he turned to ask her if she wanted to join, but the next words out of her mouth dampened them once more.
âWhy the hell should I even care? I did try to apologise, okay. I didnât get to even say it, but it wouldnât have helped anyway. You know how he gets when something doesnât go his way, so thatâs what Iâve been doing. Giving him his way. Iâm not going to keep kissing his ass every time he does something that mindfucks him-â His rant broke off when Georgina mentioned love, and it took him a while to process it. Love? Was she fucking serious? He didnât. I donât. That wasnât what this was. âYouâve got it all wrong.â Heâs my friend. âI donât love him!â
He shook his head, several times. Georgina had dropped a few marbles - he was certain of it - but he was quiet as he nodded in agreement to her offer. So she made a bad comment, he didnât have to shun her for it. He offered his arm to her so she could take it, and admitted to himself that he was glad to have someone to talk to about it, even if she didnât know all the details. âThanks, and sorry for vomiting words all over you. That was messy.â
Georgina listened to Grayson's story, her eyebrow arched in to a disbelieving stare. But, she decided not to question. If the boy said his clothes were missing, they were missing. Perhaps on another day, she would have inquired, called him stupid, and found his wardrobe in ten minutes flat. But today, she had a date to go to. It took a lot of brainpower to deal with Mr. Hugo Weasley. She smirked, raised a finger to her temple, and gave a mocking sort of salute. "I'll be sure to do that." Georgina nodded, understanding where the boy was coming from. She crossed her arms in defense, her own way of raising her hands and retreating. Wow, did friends do this all the time? Listned and tried to help? Because it hurt that she couldn't. It was weird, but it did, it hurt that she couldn't make this better with a flick of her wand. She raised both her eyebrows at Grayson's next outburst. "I never said you loved him like one would love their significant other. But you love your friends, do you not? And he's your friend." She took Grayson's arm, and pulled him along, through the corridor. Friendship crisis or not, there were people to see, places to be. "No apologies necessary," Georgina shrugged, not looking Grayson in the eye. That was the closest she was about to get to sensitive emotional gabble. "So what are you going to do today, then, Grayson would? I would invite you on my date, but I fear of you stealing poor Hugo's heart away."
SQUISHY~ Georgina
âWell, usually. You know, when Iâm not being threatened at wand-point by one of the best witches of the year, that is.â Grayson figured he could smoothly slip in some ass-kissing. It was in his best interests, especially since his claim had been completely and honestly true. He blinked at Georgina when she explained just how many languages she could speak, and even though she was still learning Italian, he still considered it a part of her skills. âI can say âDonde esta mis pantalones?â and I can definitely tell you that phrase has been necessary in the past couple of days,â he assured her. âThat is the extent of my âother language skillsâ, though,â he admitted. He wasnât bothered by it.
Grayson frowned at the Ravenclaw in confusion until he realised that it was, obviously, a Hogsmeade day. It would explain why heâd been getting less and less glares or salutes in the corridors, and why the castle seemed to be teeming to the brim with younger students. Poor things, they mustnât have been given permission to leave the castle yet. He shook his head in the negative when asked if he was going with Jules. It wouldâve been great, but he figured sheâd want to spend this particular outing with her gang.
But Damien. Heâd averted his eyes and twisted himself on the window sill so he could stare outside. âWho wants to go out there in this weather?â he asked, unintentionally furrowing his brow. If he could apologise or anything to repair his friendship with Georginaâs fellow Housemate, he would do it in an instant. Except, at the moment, he was afraid he would mess it up. He was irritated with the other boy. Annoyed that it was taking him so long to approach him. He wasnât expecting an apology, he didnât even want one. He didnât even know what he wanted from him, except that things go back to normal. The chances of that was slim, if things were to carry on as they did. If he tried talking to him, heâd probably bite his head off again.
âFor all must say their last goodbye to Paradise,â he murmured quietly, probably too quietly for anyone but himself to know what he was going on about. Grayson was a musician, though many people didnât know about it, and quoting lyrics from Muggle bands wasnât usual, per se, but it seemed to apply at the moment. Music was a hobby he liked to keep to himself, other than a small few who stuck around when he practised. âIf heâs in a bad mood, it isnât anything Iâve done.â
Georgina rolled her eyes at Grayson. "Flattery will get you everywhere," she drawled, moving her hand to inspect her fingernails. "And that is best with of the year, thank you." And it was true. She had the best grades in her year. Impeccable. Just like her nails. She re-crossed her arms over her chest. "Donde esta mis pantalones?" she asked, arching an eyebrow. "Are you telling me that lately it has been necessary to ask people for the whereabouts of your pants?" "The snow is fun," she said, side-eyeing him. She didn't think so, obviously, but she bet that Grayson did. Snowball fights, snowmen. Other, various snow-related activities that she had no joy in partaking in. Georgina watched Grayson as he thought, his mind obviously somewhere else. "Perhaps not," Georgina said, lowering herself from the window sill. "But perhaps that's just what you think. And even if you haven't done anything wrong, maybe he thinks you have. Everything is relative." Now, Georgina wasn't the best at empathy. Especially, only being able to identify three people as her friends. But she figured that was socially acceptable to say. "Apologisisng is hard," that she knew for a fact, being the most stubborn girl in existence, "but sometimes you have to do it, even if you don't think you should have to. Love is about biting the bullet sometimes. No matter how you love someone." "Well," she said, shrugging at the boy, "that's my pearl of wisdom for the day. I hope you enjoyed it. Now," she extended her arm to Grayson, "would you like to accompany me along to the Great Hall? I'm meeting my stupid idiot there."
