Not gonna lie, all I could think of while reading todayâs chapter was âwhat kind of fever dream is this????â. I mean, when I first saw Bum dressed like that I thought this was going to be some sort of early Christmas special lmaoo. AND THE FUCKING CORN MADE ME LOSE IT ASDFGH. What a weird ass chapter.
Alright, letâs get down to business. As Iâve said many times before, Iâve never got âsexual abuseâ vibes from Sangwooâs past⌠until this season. Eunseo definitely sexualized his son. Making him watch how she had sex, praising his looks all the time and calling him babe were âsubtleâ ways to do so. This is considered covert sexual abuse and, while often ignored, itâs equally disgusting and damaging.
Her reasons? Well, after all that shit she said about the rat I would say sheâs doing it on purpose to break Sangwoo rather than doing it because sheâs actually attracted to him. Even after weâre told she never wanted to have Sangwoo, I wouldnât say she didnât love him at all. Some of her interactions with Sangwoo seemed too sincere for her to be pretending. In fact, while she may have resented Sangwoo for âruining her lifeâ by being born, I think everything was relatively fine (though she was already being manipulative) until that scene with the blurred text. Thatâs when all the weird shit started to happen*. Whatever Sangwoo said made her feel so betrayed that she decided to take revenge on him, slowly.
*(Yes, I remember the pillow incident! But that looked like an actual psychotic episode, not something premeditated).
Now hereâs where yâall gonna jump down my throat lmao: personally I canât picture Eunseo getting physical with Sangwoo. And by that I mean raping him. She seems like the kind of person who will resort to psychological abuse, poisoning your mind little by little. Call me a dense bitch if you want but until weâre shown what was really hapening in that scene I would rather believe she hit Sangwoo in the head and tied him up in the basement to let him die there. Only because I find that more interesting from a narrative point of view. đ¤ˇ
At risk of sounding like a broken record, the reason why Sangwoo is so scared of Bum at the end of this chapter is because he canât stop associating him and Eunseo!! He even mixes the both of them. Sangwoo is being âsubmissiveâ right now because he knows that the reason why Eunseo decided to kill his husband was because he was abusive; therefore, if he doesnât treat Bum right he may want revenge, just like Eunseo did. He probably went through the same dynamic with her, trying hard to behave like a good son so she would spare him. Clearly, it didnât work lol.
