night dear <3
"It’s fun making you think I do. It’s got you on your toes watching what comes out of your mouth and stuff," he chuckles.
"That's not true." she furrows her brows when it was exactly the truth and highly unfair of him she thinks.
"Hey, I still got time for the gym, I’ll be fine," he waves her off before adding real quick: "And by gym I clearly mean running around the hospital when impromptu calls to the OR happen." Tony rolls his eyes playfully at Ray when she calls him doctor again. Smiling up at the waitress though, not knowing how this bar dealt with an open tab, he took out his wallet and fished out his credit card so they’d just charge him from there with every drink they order. "What the beautiful lady said," Tony said as he hold his credit card for the waitress to take. "Make sure you get 15 percent of tip out of whatever we end up summing up tonight," he made sure to add before looking back at Ray. "Order up, m’lady."
"You really do not know what you've begun, good sir." she chuckles shaking her head at him before skimming the menu again. "Let's see, to kick this off we're going to need a man on the moon, davey jone's locker, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, alexander the great, three blind mice…" she trails off moving her mouth from side to side before seeing another drink that catches her attention. "Oh, oh and a release the kraken because what better way to start a night?" she smiles at the waitress jotting it all down.
"So much subtext," he teased, still smiling at her.
"I think you just like reading in to things."
"Oh totally. Clearly I wanna get in your pants," he joked and winked at her for good measure. "Well I’m not driving and neither are you — plus I’ve paid all of my student bills so I don’t have much to worry about. My bank account’s got enough, we’re good. Are you in or what?"
"Good thing I wore my tightest skinny jeans today. You'll still have to work for it." she laughs. "That's true. If you get too drunk I'll just roll you down the sidewalk. Well in that case, you're on, Dr. Tony." she nods waving over a waitress. "We'd like to open a tab please." she smiles.
"Are you saying I don’t smile enough?"
"Well, I think you could definitely smile more." she shrugs.
"Well I’m glad puberty ran its course without any impromptu interruptions on the development of your face," he said genuinely even though he was sporting a grin that clearly meant he was sort of teasing her. "You know what we should do? Just order every single drink that seems weird or interesting and test it out. Literally every single one of them," he suggested. "And it’ll be my treat," he shrugged."
Her brows raise surprised by his suggestion yet also intrigued at the prospect. The were many drinks on the menu that she was interested in trying and who would turn down free alcohol? "Are you trying to get me drunk, Dr. Ramirez?" she asks with a chuckle. "I'm pretty sure we'll have to be carried out and you might have quite a hefty bill."
"Well, what’s a star without his entourage? Besides, I know it would be a lot more fun going to special events with friends, y’know. To give Cassie and me some moral support." He explained, stumbling along with his words near the end. He hoped she didn’t take it the wrong way. He wanted Rayde to be a part of their little group because they were friends, appearances be damned.
"If you weren't gay I would kiss you right now." she states matter-of-factly. "That's incredibly sweet." she adds genuinely appreciative that'd he'd offer to share that experience with her. It definitely isn't every day you randomly reunite with a friend whose a rising celebrity and invites you to award shows. "I'm warning you now though, there's a possibility I might seriously fan girl and embarrass you just a little bit."
"Clearly the universe. They’ve put me in charge of letting you know you should do that more often."
"Maybe you heard the universe wrong and it you who should it more."
"Yeah? What for?" he asked, not dropping the subject but paying attention to her findings in the menu nevertheless by scooting over closer to her and looking over where she tapped. "Seriously? Is it any good though?"
"My face. I didn't like it. Almost got a Glasgow smile once and instead of being scared, for a moment I thought at least I'd have a legitimate physical reason for needing to change my face and for another moment I thought maybe in a strange way I'd like the scars." she replies as she skims what else is in it. "It ought to be. This place makes the best drinks. Really weird ones too if you're feeling experimental and there's always classics or whatever type of beer you'd like."
"On the contrary, you should smile more often."
"Oh? Who says I don't smile enough already?"
"There’s that smile again," is he teasing again? Is he not? I don’t know~
"The creepy old man smile? Maybe I should stop smiling."
"Why it was my pleasure, Ms. Carson," he said in his "professional voice," following her lead. Tony nods at her words and takes the drink menu to look at what they have in the bar while he spoke. "Indeed. Then there’s transexuals and people who may have a tumor that may have deformed their body. There’s burn victims. And I think something that really reeled me into this field was when my resident, during my internship, told me something that made me look at the profession differently. He told me that people don’t come to plastic surgeons to fix what’s on the outside, but on the inside. If that means bigger breasts, fixing a deformity, or something else, then so be it," He finished with a small shrug on his little ramble. While he wasn’t as passionate about this as he was about teaching, he was still very happy with his life’s outcome.
"That's very true. People's self esteem are low enough, the criticisms and standards of this day and age only makes it worse. They ought to have a way to be able to feel better about themselves." she replies clicking her tongue as she went though different drink names and ingredients in her mind. "I'd considered it once." she replies absently. "Ooo, this one has infused pomegranate." she taps the menu.
"You know I’m not gonna let you live this one down, right?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Looking down at her breast unashamedly he shrugged. “You’re okay,” he paused for a while and looked back at her, “for now,” he added with a sly smirk. “But during my internship I just learned a lot of stuff I had no idea. Of course we still get those white old women who want a face lift — maybe even breast implants but there’s a lot of special cases that tend to get overshadowed by the stereotypical surgery of a plastic surgeon,” he finished with a shrug.
"Thank you for your professional opinion." she mocked. Ah, yeah people tend to forget what's it's really meant for. Instead of fighting the effects of aging there's more important things like children with cleft lip." she agrees picking up a drink menu.
His smile widens and turns into a grin. “I’ve just missed messing with you a little,” he confessed.
"I honestly couldn't tell." she replies smiling sarcastically. "I may or may not have missed it too."
