moonkvu:
MOONKYU DOESN’T KNOW if he even has the right to stare anymore, or considered the short, shy glances that he’s giving roman from time to time again during their conversation –– especially paying attention to the shades that cover at the other’s eyes, can’t help but stare while relishing in history as if he was a naive teenager, falling in love all over again. but moonkyu has LEARNT his lesson and knows that he shouldn’t linger for too long which is the main reason his fingers are twisting awkwardly at the hem of his shirt, eyes glancing back down onto the ground before back up at the familiar figure. “ a lot has changed since i last saw you and i just wanted to –– wanted to keep someone or something constant in my life, you know ? ” moonkyu momentarily rambles before flushing RED at his words, unable to feel the embarrassment that washes over him. he hadn’t even mean to say those words out loud; moonkyu always one for putting his heart on his sleeve even when it’s someone who had loved so desperately that crushed him into thousands of pieces. if he keeps his act up, his anxiety would come over him to the point where roman won’t even SEE him for any longer –– invisibility desperately c l a w i n g at his throat. moonkyu’s gaze traces the outline of the sunglasses while the other talked, offering a small, genuine smile before nodding. “ i don’t … think you look a jackass, i mean you’ve always looked cool like that, ” moonkyu murmured with a helpless shrug, fingers clammy for a touch to reach out and reassure the other … something, anything at the moment. “ –– and i, uh, go to school around here now. the university down the street ? i .. you come here often ? ”
✫ + * . * roman’s always been so soft for the other-- maybe not in the way moonkyu would’ve wanted them to be, but... there’s a certain vulnerability, nonetheless, that the uber driver feels whenever they come close to the other boy. so when moonkyu’s words slip out, it’s almost like a slap in the face; maybe unintentional, sure, but there’s no denying the sting that still lingers. “yeah, i... get what you mean.” they choose to respond, an understanding nod causing the shades to nearly slip off the bridge of their nose. “you... you deserve constants. & stability... & stuff, you know?” i’m sorry i was never able to give it to you. the emotions shift & pool up inside their stomach, roman’s lips almost pursed to the point of bleeding when moonkyu’s smile-- that damned smile-- manages to ease the tides that manage to erupt within them, the heat threatening to sink out of their irises subsiding even the slightest bit. moonkyu had always been good at doing that-- good at being a friend, which, well... made one of them. “you think so?” they pipe up, smile growing wider-- as if the two have an inside joke, an inside world of their very own (& once upon a time, they actually had). “means a lot, coming from you; it’s kind of a pain in the ass to explain to people that i’m not, like, blind, or trying hard, most of the time, but... thanks.” a toothy grin ghosts across their features for the briefest of moments, before eyebrows arch up at the other’s news. “that’s cool.” roman offers-- they find that they actually mean it. “whoa-- buy me drinks first, won’t you?” the quip comes back a lot quicker than it should’ve; roman doesn’t realize what they’ve said (& whom they’ve said it to) until it’s fully left their mouth, & now the warmth that seeps through their cheeks just won’t cease. “i just... dropped off a passenger. uber passenger, i mean. & thought... i don’t know. get some dinner, maybe.” another helpless shrug passes through shoulders, & an apology sits at their throat-- still unspoken.
