Joy's not sure how she tripped over absolutely nothing—that's usually Anxiety's field of expertise. But Sadness pulls her in closer before she can fall. She's smack dab in the middle of one of the spotlights, eyes glistening in concern.

"Joy, be careful..."

"Uhhh—yep! Yeah! I can, uh, stare—uh—care!" She ducks her head down, clears her throat. There's a flutter in her chest as she feels her pulse up in her head.

"...Be careful," she finishes weakly. "Yep, just, uh! Just keep going."

....okay realll talk, though. these two are RIVALS and they love it. the gist of their relationship is that they openly hate each other in public and then date in secret. they got a stupid "pact" that making out is just a way to "let off steam" and nothing more. as a reminder to not get all "gross and mushy." so like, you know. of course they get all gross and mushy. and of course they end up accidentally falling for each other along the way....
