"Carve a pumpkin!!!!" - Anonymous I had Grace join in on this one. I wanted to do two Pokemon pumpkins, one from each of us, but we were too restricted for time. We got the pumpkins in the beginning of October and only carved the night before! I couldn't let it slip away. We got the most important one though, Pumpkaboo! We love this Halloween themed Pokemon and Grace did perfectly on it! It is so cute and accurate! Those were some fine pumpkin carving skills! She said she has a history of being an awesome carver, so it makes sense! I got my fill out of it too by cutting the top and scooping out the innards. >:3 It was a lot of fun, and I think carving a pumpkin should forever be the #1 priority of everyone's Halloween. Skip the candy, the costumes, the parties. Let's all just carve on and carve away. We put 3 tea-lights to make it actually look lit too by the way (which took expert lowering in by Grace's little hands). <3 Thanks for the Re-Quest, Anon! That project brightened our holiday! Pun intended!

"I request you draw Grace as a superheroine (your choice of superpower)" -lizhasa I was brainstorming ideas for what Grace would be as a superhero, and thought of a few things: Super Mom, Power of Love, Power of Healing, and Shapeshifter. I asked Grace casually while she was falling asleep which power is best to be sneaky and she said love, and so I went with that one. I had a few of the ideas already sketched out (the first picture here), and then decided to try it out on MSPaint on a laptop touchpad! It is a tough way to go to be honest. But I wanted the clean and colorful computer look and I am sad that I can't use my computer which has Photoshop and is also broken. I totally forgot about the part that asked to put her in a dramatic screencap movie moment. So if you want, now that  I have her superhero, do you have any situation requests?! Hope you like Superhero Grace! :) Thanks for requesting!

So I was excited to see that my sister, Laura A., who is pursuing art in the UK was the second person to participate in my art blog Re-Quests! She gave an awesome example of a unique and interesting request. She said to do a "self portrait with 3 different skins" or something similar to that. I was going to do mixed media again but decided not to because it wouldn't have been as distinguishable. I may do it again with color if anyone thinks it's worth it! I had no idea how to go about this one for a few days. I imagined just striping different animal prints on a realistic self portrait, but wanted to really integrate what the idea meant into the creation. I looked up the scientific list of 5 major categories of skin in the world. I picked out feathers, scales, and fur. Which translated to wings, a scale breastplate, and furry legs! And my first attempts at drawing this were a little scary. This was the 3rd try, and I felt it was better as a quick confident drawing rather than a slow meticulous drawing. :) *Edit: Ah, I have to add, this attempt worked better because I used a head and gesture guide, hence the straight line going through his body. I didn't have an eraser, which is better practice anyway! But drawing the head and a line of any straight or curve will help if you ever are trying to create dramatic movement or stay on the path like this one. I wanted him to be standing very straight! :) Thanks Laura, hope everything's going well in Bath, England!

My brother was the first to respond about Re-Quests, and he told me to do my best. I took that as a request and went ahead and created this! :) I think it is a very suiting intro to this blog! I want you to also remember to do your best and give me requests you think are challenging! It is a good way to make progress. :D Yay let's move on!

*This one I just made simple because it seemed like the better way to go vs. a comic about different ways of doing your best. This is straight to the point, and it worked out better in execution than the other ideas I had would have. I could have written a quote or handwritten the text, but why try to reach the crispness of computer text, and the simple fun of magazine style cutouts?! I found the star on a Mario fruit snacks box, and just drew the light-bulb behind it. Do your best, and be the brightest! :)
