Robert Proch’s Kinetic, Intricate Paintings
Robert Proch, an artist and animator based in Poland, created kinetic, seemingly erratic worlds in his paintings. Influences in the artist’s style include contemporary street art and graffiti, impressionism, and even “classic caricature.”
On his process, Proch has noted the evolution in how he creates each of the intricate acrylic paintings. “I have stopped using photo materials years ago,” Proch said, in an interview with Widewalls. “Once I made this decision, the whole painting process became twice as exciting. You never know where the composition will go. Of course you have to keep the main direction in your head. You walk around it somehow. Every new element is changing its current situation on the canvas and you have to react. It reminds me of Tetris a bit. You can make many mistakes on the way but it’s also part of the fun.”
Proch, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland, has shown work across the world. Recent runs include galleries in Paris, Denmark, London, and other spots. Even while in school, Proch had shows in both the U.K. and the U.S.
