âthose baked goods are lucky to have you protecting them. like a mother bear.â she says with a chuckle, before sheâs continuing to pluck out the chocolate chips, amber hue going to reaganâs as she smiles.âmerely teasing you. not wanting to go out and enjoy the heat today? no reason, just thought iâd say hi, and hide out and what not. i have a book and can sit quietly in the corner reading it.â she says, pointing to the corner, before sheâs shrugging her shoulderâs.âiâve been good. hanging out with tyson, weâre thinking of getting back into putting him on youtube again, so thatâs nice. iâm actually looking forward to it. i guess i still feel kind of guilty that i didnât invite my family here for family day. but then iâm conflicted because iâm kind of glad i didnât.â she was really torn about it, but it didnât stop her from smiling and enjoying her time here. she liked it here, it was far more relaxing here than at home.
âitâs self-gain.â typically one hundred percent of the time; reagan shook her head at the latter of her words. âtheyâre just cookies.â she says, smiling gently and just watching the way the younger woman pulled the chocolate chips from the cookie. ânah, too much to catch up on. are you needing a quiet place to read?â she asks, assuming so, but inquiring further on that. if emily was here and asking to sit quietly and read in the space where reagan was tucked away from the bustle of people....she thought to explore the notion that there was a reason for that. âruining your other quiet spots?â she asks, taking another quick drink of her coffee. a form of insight came soon enough and reagan understood more. âseems like you know how you feel on the matter, on both sides of it, i mean.â acknowledging how she felt about it was a strength in and of itself. âwhich side is more strongly felt? the guilt or feeling good about it?â she asks.
*was going to write a description of her room but then decided itâs pretty straightforward and contains all of the things she needs with a few cookie stashes so what more can i say? wow such a reagan-esque description. itâs reaganâs room, with reagan things in it.*

âYou seem to be deep in contemplation with your cookie,â Samantha started, confused as to what could be so fascinating about the look of it. The important thing was the taste and smell, nothing more. âIs it a bad time?â
âyeah pretty major.â reagan admits, gesturing to it with her finger. âtrying to decide if i wanted one or ten.â she shook her head and gestured pulled her focus entirely to the other woman. ânot at all. are you alright?â

He stood up and nodded slowly. âA run could work yes. Sure.â He hadnât been on a run in what felt like years, but admittedly the break could work well for him. âIâll come for one beer after, but donât expect me to stick around for the game.â
reaganâs thumbs hooked under the waist of her pants and she turned for the door. âyou need to change?â she knew she was sometimes liable to spend time working in sweatpants, it really depending on the kind of work the day held and what she was mulling over. âhey, man, i didnât even expect the company for beer. no expectations here.â she was genuinely surprised heâd closed his laptop; sheâd be the first to tell him that it was good for him from time to time though.

âthatâs a shame. your mouth talking before your brain caught up with what it was doing.â she says with a chuckle, watching as reagan slid the cookie over to her. and there was her treat for the day.âi feel like you were betting yourself on trying to see who it is, before you even look up. if you lose, well you donât get the cookie, if you win, you get the cookie. in this case.â she looks down at the cookie, before back at reagan.âi guess you lose?â she asks, with a smile, taking out the chocolate chip pieces, setting them on the napkin before looking up at reagan.âiâm doing good. yep. no trouble for me today. i count that as a win. and i get a well deserved cookie. you seem busy.â
âhappens sometimes. the âniceâ and âpassiveâ comes out before the âaggressively over-protective of baked goodsâ.â reagan smiles softly, dismissing it though. she didnât mind and there were plenty of cookies where that one came from if she really wanted more badly enough. reagan wasnât really thinking about it all that much. ânot a loss. no worries.â she smiles, her eyes casually watching emily picking the chocolate chips out of the cookie and setting them on the napkin. âdo i?â she shrugged lightly. âno, not really. putting in some hours, being present or something. good thing though, you stopped by for a reason?â she inquires. âhow have you been feeling since our last talk?â
ryderxgreene
âwell then. hereâs to a perfect day.â he says, holding up his half of the cookie, before taking a bite out of it, before heâs shrugging his shoulders.ânot one to keep the spotlight on me. prefer to share it.â he ells her honestly, before heâs raising his eyebrows at her.âits better than baby sitting, iâll take content over that any day.â he says with a soft chuckle.âsome people donât like the boring undertone they seem to find with content. i quite like the silence. do you like content?â he asks, before finishing off his half of the cookie.
âno thanks, iâm good. no spotlight needed.â reagan says, glancing down to the other half of the cookie. her lips pursed and there was no hesitation in picking it up and sinking back into her chair to work on it. âbabysitting?â last she checked, there werenât really kids here. âwhat were you a nanny out in the real world?â she asks, curious dark eyes flickering back to him as she chewed a bite. âcontent doesnât mean boring; content is what you make it. i think itâs fine, not boring.â she says, shrugging. âthen again, if youâre finding content boring then maybe you need some new hobbies. just a thought.â
brianmatthewsgov
âOkay fine, but those arenât the studies I look at.â At this point there was no reason to argue, or even get defensive. She was trying to helpâŚtrying to at least de-stress him a little and he had to appreciate that. âRunningâmight actually work.â He shrugged and turned back to face her again. âOkay, fine. you win.â He slammed down the top of laptop, and spun his chair so that this time his whole body was facing her. âHappy?â
theyâre the studies people who like a beer look at. reagan wasnât going to keep pressing but the words did scroll right through her mind. instead she was watching him close his laptop and turn around in his chair. âyou wanna run? we can run.â she suggests, if he really thought it might help. âuh....happy later when thereâs a beer in my hand and when i know if theyâre streaming the marinerâs game in the bar but...happy enough.â she nodded surely.
emilysong
sheâd come to visit reagan, knowing fair well the woman was working today, and so when she got to her door, she lightly taps upon it before entering a soft smile playing on her face as she gently drops into the seat in front of her.âyou really donât look like you wanted to ask the question. i can happily ignore it for you.â
âi did want to ask it....until i randomly donât want to ask it.â reagan admits, seeing emily plop down and still, she slid the napkin closer to her and shook her head lightly. âjust tend to make the offer before i look up but...in this case it was a right call.â reagan folded her arms in front of her on the surface of the desk. âhow are you doing? staying out of trouble?â
ryderxgreene
his eyes stay upon hers just watching her, a soft smile playing on his lips at her words.âhow is the contemplating coming along then? happy with how everything turned out?â he asks her, before heâs shrugging his shoulders, and taking a bite from the cookie, chewing before swallowing.ârounds are going good, everything seems to be quiet, content even, just the way we like it. doing just fine, thank you.â
âgoing to shit. perfect day.â reagan smiles, hoping that was enough to politely say she didnât want to talk about it. that wasnât why she was here anyways and...her definition of polite might have been a little skewed. âhonestly, yeah, itâs good. are you here to talk about me?â she asks, arching a brow, the question was genuine. usually when people deflected too much there was a reason behind why they were doing it. âis content something you like? some people donât.â she says, taking a drink of her coffee.
brianmatthewsgov
âOn what planet is it good for you?â He waved a hand in the air, turning back to his work. âBesides, one or two more this week and my belly is going to be bigger than it has in a long time. I need to keep the balance between clever and gorgeous yâknow.â He never usually cracked jokes in the lab, not that this was much of a joke, but that was how comfortable it was to be around Reagan. âI honestly donât know what Iâm studying at the minute. Dropping in and out of subjects, trying to find some semblance between this or that or the other.â
âpretty sure on this planet. thereâs a lot of studies, yeah, but the issue with alcohol is moderation and beer, wine, not quite the same thing as drinking a bottle of liquor in a night. beer and wine are good for your heart.â she rolled her eyes lightly. âagain, moderation to maintain the stomach.â she tells him. âor you could go running with me.â she suggests, not that she expected that to be accepted. she found it much easier to joke around with matthews on the job, because they both knew when to stop and not let it slow down actual work. âso there ya have it; canât focus if you no longer know what youâre focusin on. give it a rest.â
ryderxgreene
he could feel the molecules and shit he could see them too, and he gently pushes his chair back. honestly, one woman hurting him was enough and he really wasnât going to be garrett from twilight. that guy liked pain.âuh thanks for the cookie.â he says before listening to her words.âwould you like me to leave so you can get those things done?â he asks, breaking the cookie in half, and sliding the other half over to reagan.
electric charge stayed coiled around her fingers, dark eyes on him but more in color than in her mood. ânah, not doing anything but contemplating my entire life, so itâs be a typical day.â she says, releasing the energy hold from her fingertips and reaching for her cup of coffee instead. âwhat about you? how are rounds going? days going good out there?â
