you do not deserve to be in pain, no matter what your mind keeps telling you
you shouldn’t feel anxious or nervous or sick every time you talk to someone. trust me, that is not the way it’s supposed to be
if they don’t seem like they’ve changed, they’re not going to. stop torturing yourself by holding onto a hope you know is pointless
Relationship advice for people with PDs!
There’s a huge lack of first-hand accounts and advice on how to have a successful relationship when one or more partners has personality disorders, and that can leave people feeling alone and anxious.
This is a new blog focused on providing relationship advice from people with PDs to people with PDs! Follower contributions are always welcome as well (general advice, stories, venting, resources, etc.).
General Info:
There’s a wide range of moderators here - you can ask specific mods for advice, either by name or by disorder!
We can respond to asks privately when indicated if you don’t want the post to be public.
Disorders we’re able to speak on cover all of the clusters (A, B, and C)!
Again, this blog just opened today (1/20/2017), so there’s no content yet, but we’re eager to give our advice, opinions, and general insight!
Please consider reblogging this if you have a PD or know someone who does - you’re not alone.
you are not to blame for the pain somebody else caused you
if somebody makes you uncomfortable or upset the majority of the time you spend with them, or talking to them, something is not right. you deserve to feel comfortable and safe, and happy. don’t surround yourself with people who don’t make you feel like that
Reminder: Your friends really do love you. No they dont secretly hate you. No they dont just put up with you and think you’re annoying. Your friends truly love you and care about you as much as you do.
they weren’t worth it then, and they aren’t worth it now
hi there, could you perhaps give the new blog @lovepd a shoutout? we're an advice blog specifically geared towards how pds affect relationships, and wanna get the word out. thanks so much!!
this sounds like such a wonderful idea! go follow @lovepd please <3
if somebody reacts to you asking them to remind you that they love you and care about you with getting angry/annoyed/pissed off, run. you are not asking for anything unreasonable or unrealistic. you’re not even asking for much, and anyone who truly loves and cares about you will never react badly to you asking for reassurance
just because the last person you loved hurt you doesn’t mean the next person you do will
i just want to wish all of my wonderful followers a very merry christmas and happy hannukah, whichever is appropriate for you! if none of them are, i want to wish you the happiest of holidays, and i hope all of you are having a wonderful time with the people you love. take care of each other and yourselves this holiday season <3
hi! my mom was very emotionally/mentally abusive to me, and she used to hit me when I was younger. I've thankfully moved away and I live with my dad/stepmom!! my dad's mindset is "be better than them" so he's going to give them pics of my junior year photos. but...I don't really agree with it. I don't want to give my mom/grandma anything because they don't deserve it at all. what do I do?
hi anon <3 i’m terribly sorry to hear about what you’ve been through :( but i’m so happy to hear that you got away, and that you’re hopefully now in a much, MUCH better place! that’s amazing <3 as for the pics: i think that’s completely up to you. after all, they are pics of YOU, so if you don’t want your mom and grandmother to have them, then that is completely your decision to make, and i’m sure your father will understand if you decide that you don’t want him to give them the pics. i agree with you that they don’t deserve them, but i also see where your father is coming from. it is entirely up to you, though! whatever feels best for you, is what you should do <3
it’s okay if you think you can do it alone. it’s okay if you try and succeed. it’s okay if you try and fail. you don’t have to do it alone, and there is no shame in not wanting to
as much as you may want to, do not contact toxic people/people from your past this holiday season. i know it can be very tempting, but please remember that there’s a reason they WERE a part of your life and ARE NOT anymore. don’t ruin your holiday season by reaching out to someone you need to let go of. don’t ruin theirs either for the same reason. they’re in the past for the reason. remember that
don’t ever let yourself be reduced to begging for someone. if they want to be in your life, they will never make you feel like you have to beg for them. you are not at other people’s mercy
Needing therapy doesn’t make you weak. It helps you build your strength.
