McKamey Manor

At McKamey Manor (CA), people pay to be kidnapped, bound, masked, slapped, stomped on and held under water over an eight-hour ‘tour’. But unlike other “extreme haunts” of the same variety, here there’s no safe word to make it stop.

For the past decade, the manor has hosted a handful of guests each weekend, challenging them to last the eight-hour “tour”. Marines and cage fighters, cops and bikers, plumbers and clerks, housewives and beauticians – all have tried.

None succeeded.

You can watch them on YouTube whimpering and trembling, begging for mercy, for it to stop. This only fuels a clamour to get in: there is apparently a waiting list of 27,000 people.

My take: This place is fantasizing the use of torture and should be condemned. People who go through this have been bruised, scared, and one even had a heart attack. The McKamey Manor might as well be renamed “Pay to be Tortured Manor.”

Examples of Stockholm Syndrome in Disney

Frollo and Quasimodo

Mother Gothel and Rapunzel

Frollo and Mother Gothel convince Quasimodo and Rapunzel that their lives are dependent on them. The two villains claim the outside world is a terrible place even though they know this is not true. They also constantly emotionally abuse their victims by implying their worthlessness and destroying their self-esteems. Quasimodo and Rapunzel sympathize with their captors and even believe their captors are protecting them and treating them with kindness. However, both captors are merely using and manipulating their victims for their own selfish purposes.

NOT:

The Beast and Belle

Belle does not sympathize with the Beast when she is treated poorly. She becomes angry and leaves the castle, only returning by her own wish so that the Beast (who saves her) does not freeze to death. She does not respond nicely towards the Beast until he treats her with respect. In this situation, Belle has control and is not manipulated into feeling for the Beast, nor does the Beast treat her disrespectfully after the first night. While the Beast does have an underlying motive as to keeping Belle in his castle, he abandons this idea and sets her free to make her happy. If anything, this story is a case of Lima Syndrome where the captor starts to sympathize with the victim.

Yeah no. The first two are not Stockholm syndrome. They were born into that relationship and because of their isolation, it's the only world you know. Like, people in an abusive relationship don't stay cause of Stockholm syndrome they stay cause it's the only world they know... And people will the disorder fully realize that their captures are not trying to protect them, they came to do harm.

Belle was captured then had conflicting feelings, then fell in love. So yeah. That's Stockholm syndrome what you mentioned is an example of an abusive relationship

Maybe the only one you can argue is Pocahontas. But let's be real she's a tribal girl who paints with colours of the wind, it's her duty to not talk and be one with nature.

ok so in high school on away game days, the football players and cheerleaders would have to share busses because our school was broke as fuck so our cheer bus would always have a group of varsity footballerers in the back of it. one day my genius friend and I were discussing our feminist rage when she said “bridget you should totally throw a tampon back there and see what they do” and me being myself, stood up and hurled a one (1) tampon at the Manly Men. IT LOOKED LIKE A WAR MOVIE. THE BROS FACES WERE FILLED WITH HORROR AS THEIR BUDDY GOT SHOT. HE WENT DOWN SO DRAMATICALLY AS SCREAMS FILLED THE BUS. BOYS WERE SLINKING AS FAR AWAY FROM THE DEADLY TAMPON AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. ONE BRO WAS EYEING THE EMERGENCY WINDOW WITH ALL SERIOUSNESS, READY TO FREE HIMSELF FROM THE THREAT. BEING IN CHICAGO, THE BUS DRIVER PULLED OVER ASSUMING A KID ACTUALLY GOT SHOT. A GIRL HAD TO GO GET THE TAMPON SO THE GUYS WOULD STOP SHITTING THEIR PANTS AND SIT THEIR ASSES THE FUCK BACK DOWN.

I have deduced 2 things from this whole experience: 1. men are ridiculous 2. I wish I had thrown more than one tampon

Guys I really don't think all men are like this... I personally took at my friends tampons and threw them at her cause she wouldn't stop complaining... They also make great band aids
