Dinner ended and Zat came in to clean up the dishes. While Naomi went into her room to grab the lamp, leaving Cato alone with her parents for the first time since they arrived.
They stared at him, and he looked anywhere but them. Part of him wanted to snap at them, ask them why they were staring, but he didn't want to make a bad impression
Thankfully Naomi came back a few moments later, lamp in hand and set it on the table.
"There." Naomi said 'There's his lamp."
They watched as Autumn's eyes widened, then she looked at Trysten, then back at the lamp.
"What?" Naomi asked, she was getting exasperated by now.
"Where did you get this?" Autumn asked finally looking at her daughter.
"Cato told you, I tripped over it in an alley way." Naomi said. Usually her mom and dad weren't this dodgy about stuff.
"I'll be right back." Trysten said, standing and Naomi was about ready to throw up her hands in frustration.
"Mom could you tell me what's going on. You guys are confusing me and scaring me." Naomi asked
"Seth and Eden brought me to Egypt when I was young, They brought me through one of the great pyramids. Told me not to touch anything. I listened to them except for one thing."
She seemed to be done with her story, and Cato felt his eye twitching in response. But he bit his tongue as to not swear at Autumn.
"Autumn, it does appear to be gone. Or at least not in the same place." Trysten said coming back from wherever he had gone.
"What's gone!?" Naomi said, interrupting whatever it was Autumn was about to say. Both Autumn and Trysten looked at her.
"The thing I found was a lamp that looked exactly like that. I brought it home, but it appears to have followed you."
"Can lamps do that? Do they have a mind of their own?" Naomi asked looking at Cato, she wasn't the only one looking at him either. Trysten and Autumn were watching him so closely that he almost felt retreating back into it just to escape their staring eyes.
"Uh no, that's stupid. It's an inanimate object." Cato responded
"Well some sort of magic happened, because I'm pretty positive that this is the exact lamp I found in Egypt." Autumn said nodding to Cato's lamp. "Unless they all look the same."
"No, we all have our own unique lamps." Cato said
A silence settled over the group, before Trysten spoke up.
