summary:gf!reader and bf!marc are on a break but she still shows up to his big game and lets just say, it means alot to him.
It was the night of the El Clásico. The Spotify camp nou was buzzing with energy, the stands filling with enthusiastic fans as the seconds passed.
You had debated about your presence at this match. You and Marc had decided to go on a break of your relationship. You both didn’t truly want this, everyone around you two could just feel the energy.
But you decided to go anyway. Marc had arranged you a front row ticket prior to this match. He wanted you there, he needed you there. He would always claim, “you give me goodluck” “i play better when you’re there” . Whispering these sweet things into your ear when cuddled up in bed.
You pulled on your white jean shorts and reached for the jersey which had “Bernal 22” stretched across the back, without even thinking. As you were pulling it over your head you hesitated if wearing this was still in order. You stared at the mirror and decided to just wear it.
Which brought you here, row 2 seat 4. The match kicked off great. Barça was leading 1-0, although you wanted to see Marc on the pitch, even if you tried to deny the feeling it was there.
The second half started, 2-0. Still waiting on Marc.
Then on the 77th minute, they announced the substitution, “Gavi out, Marc Bernal in”. Your body leaned forward in eagerness, like second nature. You watched as he effortlessly played and controlled the ball. You cheered every time he created a chance and your eyes focused every time he neared the goal. You couldn’t help it, how could you not cheer for the boy you love?
Finally the final whistle blows and the crowd erupts in loud roars, all the players running towards eachother, engulfing each other in a big hug. You couldn’t help but jump up and cheer as loud as you could. ‘Drop dead’ by Olivia Rodrigo started playing from the speakers as she was the spotify sponsor for this el elásico. The stadium performs a huge a celebration with music and fireworks.
Then they finally allowed family and friends on to the pitch. You were hesitant but forced yourself to turn away to exit the stands and go find the exit. But you couldn’t help yourself from taking a final look. You spotted Marc looking at the stands, like he was searching for something- or someone.
I was over the moon about this win but something was missing. She was missing. I eyed the stands, hoping I’d see her face, her smile. I doubted it, but I still had to try. Then a jersey caught my eye, “Bernal 22” the hair caught my attention next. No, it can’t be true. Did she come?
Then to confirm my suspicions the brunette girl turned around, my brunette girl.
His eyes caught mine and I froze in place. His hand traveled up, signaling me to come to him. He seemed almost relieved. I made my way down and watched as Marc gave the security guard a thumbs up, allowing my entrance. We both made our way to each other and I sped up to close the final bit of distance and threw myself into his arms. His arm snaked around my waist as his other hand cradled my head automatically. He held you so tight like he might lose you if he doesn’t.
“You’re here.” , “you came” he said lowly into my hair. I slightly pulled back and cupped his face in my hands “of course I did Marc.” I replied warmly. “But I thought-” he started before I cut him off, shushing him, “but shhh” .He gave me a look and I knew immediately what it meant, I nodded letting him pull me into a kiss. It wasn’t anything crazy, it was hesitant but certain at the same time. But it was clear that we both needed this, the way his whole body relaxed and the way you sighed into the kiss.
“We will talk about us later, but now let’s celebrate your win, i’m so proud of you mi amor.” I told him after pulling away. He smiled in agreement, “gracias bebé.” and took my hand in his as we walked towards the trophy. Him asking Pau to take a photo of us. Pau smiles as he sees the two of us together, knowing Marc will tell him everything later and happily agreed. (“photo inspo” on top of this post)
No, not everything is solved yet. But right now, everything felt right and perfect. Here with Marc, under his arm.
