Ordered Disorder 2015

Dimensions Variable

Materials: Glass, Polyester Resin, wood, various beauty and bathing products, plug hair

As water is often viewed as a sign of purity and cleanliness, I aim to challenge these ideas by creating disorder and dirt from hygiene products which appear as muck, hair and body waste. With regards to Mary Douglas’s ideas of an ingrained system of order, I question contemporary societal standards of hygiene, the beauty industry and us as consumerist to create works which are simultaneously alluring and repugnant.
