Rough night?Â
You could say that. Though I'm not looking forward to the morning, either. The whole town seems to be in disaster mode.
"Oh come on I’ve been training my entire life. If anything I probably need to train less." Sam thought of a decent answer to give Rebekah, letting her pick with his hand. He instead gave a rhetorical question he knew she couldn’t answer. "Really? How do you kill a demon? Better yet, what’s the exorcism for even sending it back to hell?" He let out a sigh before continuing. "I don’t want to argue. You have a point, as much as I hate to admit it. Just, promise me you’ll be safe. There are other hunters out there who”ll kill you on sight."
She played with his fingers, trying to make herself seem much more confident than she actually was. Nothing could harm her she wished that she could tell Sam that. But it wouldn't make sense to tell him now. Not when she was certain that he would hate her for keeping even more secrets. "And what do you do when you can't kill a vampire How do you deal with compulsions? There's a world of things that you have no idea about. I know how to be safe. The hunters don't scare me."
”I’m going to need a drink. Or several.”Â
Make that two of us.
"Hey you have an advantage." he said putting his hands up in a mock of self defense. He gave her legs that hung down from the table a playful nudge and looked up at Rebekah. "Something has to draw you here." Sam raised his eyebrow at her comment. "Not in a high school. I’d deem that as implausible. I haven’t even been here an hour and I already feel like I’m in hell."  It was true, after all Sam had a different  set of motives.
"So maybe you just need to train harder. You know exactly what you're up against." Rebekah kicked playfully at his hand. "I told you. I was looking for people. You can't expect me to stay inside and pretend like I'm scared of something that I'm not scared of. It isn't fair. Plus, you're out and about and you dont have anyone protecting you -- so why shouldn't I go explore and see who is out here?"
"It’s ironic that you’re the one who would actually be able to kick my ass." Sam played along with a light smirk. He needed something to take his mind off of everything.Â
"Maybe they’re just coming for comfort. Either that or they’re just oblivious. It’s not too terribly unreasonable after all that’s been happening. Maybe it’s more support for each other."  Sam knew exactly why she lied about the book. It probably wasn’t an answer he would’ve taken well, and Sam admitted to that. He didn’t want her involved. "You’re here for answers."
"And what if I could? Does your masculinity feel threatened?" She smirked in response before moving to sit on top of the library table. "Maybe, though I'd rather be under the assumption that they're all quite stupid. I've yet to find more than a handful of people here that have a smidge of common sense." Rebekah looked at the book on the table. "And what are you here? The company of a good book and a quiet room?"
"Was that just fun for you or something? We both know you could’ve stopped me." History had always been Sam’s strong subject. Hunting just called for more and more research on it. "Hey it’s nothing like it was before. If you need help with something you could actually, you know, ask. You’re a pretty bad liar." Sam said with a smirk, remembering her earlier words about looking for something. "What book are you looking for?"Â
"I could've, but there really isn't much fun in that," Rebekah teased. She liked being able to play around with Sam, to tease him and to be lighthearted even when the world around them was falling apart. "I really don't need anything. I wanted to see who was in here. I'm actually surprised that people are still here after everything." That much was true. She idnt need anything from the library. She needed to know that people weren't getting hurt or doing anything stupid.
He turned around and shoved whoever it was against the bookshelf without a second thought as to who it might be. They didn’t feel human and Sam could sense that. Besides, most students were in class or the smart ones were at home. “Jesus. I’m sorry. I didn’t know you went here. You’ve been in high school for what, 300 years?”  His breathing slowed and he relaxed. Recognizing the voice and figure who was previously behind him as Rebekah.
"What do you need?" he asked out of curiosity, pushing himself off of the bookshelf.
Rebekah didn't see the point in stopping him. She let him shove her against the bookshelf with as much force as he could and laughed at his moment of realization. "I'll have you know that I wasn't allowed in schools three hundred years ago. It's wonderful living in a patriarchal society." She ran her fingers through her hair and waited for him to move."Nothing. I just saw a light and wanted to see who was in here."
It’s been a rough week for Prudence. Since she settled down in Mystic Falls several awkward situations happened which made her more than sure it must have something to do with Raven but unfortunately she hasn’t located her anywhere near which made the witch a little sad and angry at the same time. Since 600 years she followed every trace of Raven, the once best friend and now enemy of hers and now it looks like she lost her again.
It was a complete mess here in this city and she was sure that she wasn’t the only witch around but then again it was always smarter to not say anything about her true being. Nobody would even believe her in this century because most people thought the witches would have died out as well as any other supernatural creatures. If humans would only know how wrong they were. Right now she was just sitting in The Grill, watching closely what’s going on around her and nipping at her coke. Even when the world would go down a bar was always open, she thought to herself, smiling a little.Â
Rebekah did her best to keep out of everyone's way; she knew well enough that if she stayed where she was, with Sam, that trouble would find them soon enough. She needed to find someone who could stop this. Not a hunter, not her brother - she needed a witch. It wasn't too long before she stopped by the Grille. Even when everything was falling apart, even when everyone was terrified that the power was out and that people were disappearing, the bar was still up and running. Seeing that there was a young blonde inside, Rebekah opened the door and sat down next to her. "You really should go home; it isn't safe for you to be out here by yourself." It was a useless warning. Rebekah doubted that anyone would listen to her. She, too, was young and blonde and out on the town by herself in the middle of what seemed to be the apocalypse.
High school was something Sam was never too fond of. Sadly, it was where the only library Mystic Falls possessed was located. He needed information if he was going to close the gates. Moving just about every 2 weeks, Sam was always an outsider.Â
The hunter was surprised at the lack of security the school held. He could easily just walk right in and take a seat at one of the tables. No need to pull the federal agent card. Sam picked out a few books he thought would’ve been useful and sat down.
”Can I help you?” he asked without looking up from the book.
Rebekah wandered through the halls of the high school, not ready to return to Nik's or Sam's. She'd left the second after Sam had, wanting to check up on a few people and things before heading inside. Sam wanted her to be safe. She knew that much. But what was the point of staying inside? Demons were not like vampires, as far as she understood. They could get in and out of any home without any trouble at all. Seeing that a light was on in the library, Rebekah made her way there. She wondered if the person knew what was going on or if they were seeking shelter. Instead, she found Sam. She stood behind him and crossed her arms over her chest. "Just looking for a book - think you can help me?"
Rebekah, I’m a hunter. In that same sense I have no reason to even stay around you. This goes against everything I’ve been taught, my entire set of morals. I’m feeling something whenever I’m around you that I shouldn’t be. You’ve told me more about yourself then you probably meant to. You didn’t compel me to forget, so what does that say? Neither can I but like I said, I just couldn’t figure it out.
And I have no reason to be around you. I've yet to meet a hunter that I've let stay in the same town as me. I've yet to meet a hunter that I've been able to talk to or be around without wanting to kill myself. And maybe I'm getting soft, or maybe I feel something, but we can't just go around saying words like that and pretending like we know what love is when we've only known each other for a short amount of time. It isn't fair to either of us to say that.
What is it with teenagers in this town these days?
"Do your parents know where you are?"
Mr. Saltzman, I don't mean any offense, but I don't see any problem with being outside at night. ... and yes. They do -- but thank you for being so considerate.
So what we do to fill the gap?
Then why’d you run off? I know and afterwards I couldn’t figure out if I made the right decision. I didn’t know how long either of us would have. I’m trusting my gut now, and it seems like I made a right choice.
I can't answer that for you. ... and I don't know. I felt like I couldn't let you say that without you knowing who I was. And I thought you might be saying that because you still aren't over ... who you were with last ... and I don't really see any reason for you to say those words and mean them.
I want to believe it, I just can’t come to terms with it.
That night, in the motel room. I told you I loved you. I couldn’t even figure out what it meant for the longest time. I didn’t want to say anything because I didn’t want to scare you off again.
It takes time. But that's something that we always seem to have a lot of.You didn't scare me. It takes a lot more to scare me. But I don't want you to think something is love without fully getting to know me first. I don't want you to jump in and find yourself drowning before you remember how to breathe.
So many nuisances in this town, yet not enough nerves.
That's usually how it works.
You should not be out on the streets tonight, it’s dangerous.
It doesn't seem too bad. Just dark. Thanks, though.
I guess if you’re going to look at it that way.
But the reason that I hunt, is to keep people safe. So that they can live full lives.
Most people don't really live, so I don't see why you're protecting people's rights to move through their day without ever doing much at all.
I can’t believe that. Not after everything.
Never mind, just forget I said anything.
Then don't believe it. You don't have to see the sense that's in it. But that doesn't mean it isn't there. Fine. I won't make you talk about it.
