My local TRU still did not have the Bunny and Alistair that I want very badly, but I was excited enough about Dragon Games to buy DG Raven (I already had DG Darling) even though she was full price. The local Walmart has the Way to Wonderland playset with Raven “on clearance” for $50, but that is not low enough for me. If it gets down to $35, then I’ll be interested. What sucks is that the Walmart website says the playset is $35 online but out of stock online, and then the in-store price is $50... aargh!

Is the novelization any good? I’ve bought all the books by Shannon Hale and Suzanne Selfors, but I was wondering if the novelization of a movie I’ve already seen twice would really be worth while.

I have not read the novelization yet. I have been reading Diary of an Evil Queen, which is cute. I just turned to that section in the novelization because I suspected they would frame it as dislodging a piece of poison apple from Apple’s throat, because that’s what happens in the Grimm Brothers version (although not via CPR; the prince’s servants stumble while carrying her coffin and the piece of apple pops out).

I only scanned one page because I’m lazy, but this paragraph is from the page before the one I scanned:

Suddenly Darling had an idea. Clasping her hands together, she placed them on Apple’s chest and began to press hard, in perfect medical form.

It’s how I expected the novelization to explain it... but it’s still not what happened in the movie!

Yeah … cause Darling could really be Apple s Prince lol … they did have some chemistry on this movie … I always thought Raven and Apple were more like super close friends lol

Also I’ve never heard of breath-only CPR, just saying. Hands-only, sure. But breath-only CPR  would never do anything in the real world. It only works if you have a magical kiss moment happen.

I know they had to frame it as CPR to actually feel safe in showing it, but that was totally a kiss.

Yeah, the novelization mentions Darling doing chest compressions, too, but that did NOT actually happen in the movie! (As you said, breath-only CPR isn’t a thing. There’s compression-only CPR, or CPR with artificial respiration, but breath-only would just be artificial respiration and not CPR. And although artificial respiration is a thing, I don’t think it saves people from pieces of magic poison sleep apples lodged in their throats.)

Loved watching Dragon Games, and now I’m going to read Diary of an Evil Queen: A Guide to Living Evilly Ever After and Dragon Games: The Deluxe Junior Novel, both of which I bought today! I see doll shopping in my future for tomorrow!

Lots of cameos, they all had some minor dialogue.

Dragon Games was good, but definitely not my favorite EAH special. They made a funny Monster High reference too. Can’t wait for the inevitable crossover special!

As expected all the new characters look much nicer in animated form than in doll form. Wonder when we’ll see a doll of Ramona?

I love seeing the new characters. .. I guess Nina won’t b short as we thought .. at least she isn’t on the cartoon … looks to me Justine was the only one done perfectly as a doll …although Nina outfit at least was done according to the cartoon … Meeshell hair s 3 shades of pink …not the red-pink we saw on the promo … does Jillian looks Middle Eastern if based upon her outfit or its just me ?

Nina is indeed on the short body in the animation. It can vary slightly depending on how it is scene planned though. The problem is that Justine is positioned too low in this shot (a good way to tell is the knee positioning).

I never minded the doll photos of the new characters before, but now that I’ve seen how gorgeous Meeshell Mermaid is in animated form, I’m really disappointed in how the doll looks.

Yay Dragon Games!

Watched it this morning while finishing up pattern.  My favorite part was Apple’s expressions.  Keep an eye on her.  She’s adorable. 

And, trying not to do the spoiler thing, but this special totally reinforces the Apple-not-being-into-boys angle! Which has been fairly obvious from the start, but I like that it’s consistent. 

Apple is like the friend who comes out to you and you’re surprised because you thought they were out already, for like, years.

How does this make any kind of sense to anybody? The ballet The Sleeping Beauty was first performed in 1890. It was based on La Belle au bois dormant by Charles Perrault, published in 1697. Earlier versions of the Sleeping Beauty theme include the episode “Histoire de Troïlus et de Zellandine” from the prose romance Perceforest, composed sometime between 1330 and 1344 and first published in 1528, and “Sun, Moon, and Talia” from Giambattista Basile's Il Pentamerone, published in 1636. Even the Brothers Grimm version “Little Briar Rose” was published in 1812. Sleeping Beauty did not first start off as a ballet.

I got most of those dates from Wikipedia and from SurLaLune Fairy Tales. I may have already known the exact dates for a couple of them, but there’s no way I ever would have known off the top of my head when Perceforest was composed! And don’t get me wrong; I love ballet, too. I was in a ballet recital yesterday, which meant six hours of rehearsing, stretching, fixing costumes, touching up makeup, and actually performing...

Does anyone have this shirt in a kid’s XL? Apparently it was at K-mart. I’m not sure when. It’s not available on the site anymore though. There’s one on ebay right now in kid’s large, which is how I discovered it, but that’s going to be too tight across my chest.

If you have one for sale or if your K-mart still has them in stock and you could pick one up, I’d be totally willing to pay whatever the cost plus shipping plus a little extra for your time would be. I just really want a cute Maddie shirt!

I wound up buying original Lizzie online because she never showed up at all where I live, only the rereleased Lizzie, which still took forever to hit shelves. I’m very happy with her! I’m glad I have the shirt, too, but I won’t be wearing it much. Although I’m 5′1″ and small-busted and it looks fine on me, it still feels really tight and small! (It’s a girls’ XL.)
