This was certainly feeling like some lover’s quarrel and he didn’t think they were lovers… However, the thought of not having Ghost bothered him.
Fuck. They knew he was a werewolf… but that meant they had been the vampire.
[To Ghost:] Guess we both have secrets.
He looked over the first two messages. Ghost was a vampire. Ghost knew he was a werewolf. At least that saved from some awkward conversation if they ever met. Would they ever meet? They informally met today, but that had ended in a mess. A mess that his HR department was trying to clean up while he ate ice cream and texted Ghost. They had been there. He had heard their voice, and that alone made him grin.
When asked about explaining the whole thing with Musk’s shit excuse for an android, he sighed. He wouldn’t tell this story. He technically wasn’t allowed to speak on the matter, given the agreement between him and the board. Also Ava. It couldn’t be discussed.
Even if he wanted to, there wasn’t any way that he could. It was better this way. He was a monster in more ways than just one, and he couldn’t deny that. Musk was tampering with something that he couldn’t even understand. Nathan had played the game, lost, and was trying to move on. He had been the first to make an AI and every day she worked amongst them. No one questioned it. The world knew her as Nathan’s sister. They would never know he created her. Only he, Ava, and Caleb knew the truth. It was a hard truth.
[To Ghost:] You wanted me to praise you, didn’t you?
His grin got even wider at the idea, or rather the notion, of Ghost wanting praise from him. From what Ghost had shared with him and what he had witnessed them do, they were a brilliant hacker. They had hacked Musk and had wanted him to see their show. Oh. That was the icing on the cake for Nathan and know he was going to play it up.
[To Ghost:] Did you want me to say what a good Ghost you were? How good your show was?
The empty cardboard bowl was thrown into the nearest trashcan and Ghost sighed, fingers drumming impatiently on the back of the bench as they awaited answers.
Why the fuck were they behaving like a teen waiting for their crush to answer their texts ?
Maybe because they were, actually, crushing on him ?
Absolutely the fuck not.
They waved their head, dismissively, almost tutting at themselves for such a silly thought.
He was just amusing.
Right ?
But they’d miss him a lot if they stopped talking to each other, too…
[To : Nathan] It’s not really a secret anymore, now. At least for us, I mean.
[To : Nathan] We have so much in common…
It had been quite a thrilling day, so far, even if it had ended on a sour note. Being so close. Feeling his warmth. His scent. His low growl echoing straight to their core as they kept him away from Musk. The blood on his face wetting their appetite, even when well fed from a few hours prior. And he hadn’t been able to see their face yet, which was a huge victory on him. A huge advantage.
[To : Nathan] Boohoo. But alright. It was still hot as fuck to see you wreck his rat’s face - and that’s not nice for the rat, I know.
Oh to hell with his AI obsession ! They weren’t going to pry more, they didn’t give a fucking shit about the newest obsession of every tech-bros… Space first, now an android ? They did wonder, though, how long until Bezos would enter the race too, same for Zuckenberg. Would Gates try, too ? It could be fun to snoop around to find out.
Really fun…
“Oh fuck you Nathan…”
They groaned under their breath, squirming a bit on the bench at the sight of the two other texts - and Ghost didn’t even have ice-cream left to cool them down.
Fucking unreal. Fucking asshole, pushing all of their buttons like that.
Should be banned by the Geneva Convention.
Pale fingers scrambled to type an answer, one that didn’t look too needy, too wanton as heat spread on their cheeks.
[To : Nathan] I just wanted you to see my gift…
Like a cat bringing dead prey for their human and waiting for their rewa- Oh. Oh fucking hell.
They did. They fucking did, hoped to be praised. Recognized.
So fucking ridiculous.
But still.
They did.
[To : Nathan] 😳…
Why lie ? Each damn time he had praised them, it felt like fire was running loose inside of them. Many nights had been filled with that kind of spicy banter. Somewhat toying the line way too far into sexting territory and they had loved every second of it. Since they took their freedom, in a rather bloody way, it had been difficult to find someone intriguing, someone worth the interest of the immortal. And finding someone who was, like them, a monster ? A wild beast with the same kind of intellect to boot it up ? Someone who also lit a fire within them like that ? It was a fucking miracle. Not that Ghost believed in Destiny or some sort of Sky Daddy or Mommy dictating one’s life - or absence of, in their case - but here ? Fuck ! It did feel like a sign. Of what, they had no idea, but they kinda liked it.
It was an interesting sensation.
An old feeling, long thought forgotten.
Pleasant, mostly.
Scary, too.
Addictive.
They wanted to see how far they could go. Would go. Feeling the little flame of adrenaline running through their veins as they texted each other, or more. Maybe they could call him tonight. Not here, though. Too many distractions and noises.
Maybe they should go back to their hotel room, after all…
