What I know about my birth-mother: She was a sophomore in high school and was 16 years old at the time of my birth. Her first name is April but I don’t know wh…at her last name is. I don’t remember what her father did, but I do know he made good money in the auto industry I was adopted by a Jewish couple who live in Long Island (New York). My birth-mother and my parents had contact before I was born but didn’t meet until after May 26 Please share!
Under current North Carolina law, the definition of “rape” is extremely narrow. It only includes those who engage in “vaginal intercourse” with another person by force and against the will of the other person and “employs or displays a dangerous or deadly weapon”.
This outdated definition fails to cover many types of sexual violence that should fall under the category of “rape”. It excludes rapes involving forced anal sex and/or oral sex, vaginal or anal fisting, rape with an object (even if serious injuries result), rapes of men and transgender people and other injurious and degrading sexual assaults.
As well, because the definition requires a deadly weapon, this excludes those who were intimidated or coerced in to engaging in sexual activity and those who were otherwise unable to give consent, such as by being unconscious or under the influence of alcohol.
In January 2012, Attorney General Eric Holder and the Federal Bureau of Investigation expanded the definition of rape to “the penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim”.
We ask the North Carolina General Assembly to follow in their footsteps and expand the legal definition of “rape”.

Fucked up
Looks like you gotta move out east if you want to marry your gay cousin.
good old-fashioned American values♥
That’s what we call a ‘traditional’ marriage.
Um.
Let’s set this shit straight, shall we?
Oxytocin is a chemical released in the brain that helps with emotional bonding and trust. It’s a hormone that makes people feel all lovey dovey. This hormone is released by males and females when you have an orgasm, touching, giving birth, breastfeeding, and other pleasurable activities (such as petting your dog, cuddling, hugging, masturbating, etc).
Oxytocin doesn’t connect you to someone forever. Hormones are an effect that linger for a little while (anything from a few hours to a few days) and then goes away until the next surge. A woman will not feel forever attached and “mentally messed up” for the rest of her life if she has sex with someone who she later splits with. What a pile of bullshit.
This post reinforces 2 myths:
MYTH: That women must “save” herself for “the one” REALITY: If a woman wants to have sex with only 1 person in her lifetime, that’s her decision…and anybody who thinks it’s OK to scare her into that decision can seriously go fuck themselves.
MYTH: Men can’t feel emotionally connected to anyone until they have kids. FACT: Men can connect emotionally just like women can and they experience oxytocin release as well. This myth also implies that if a woman wants to connect to her male partner, they must have kids to do so.
Further, oxytocin is not ”nature’s way” of telling us to only have sex with one person. In our primitive history, humans were rarely monogamous. In recent centuries, society has taken to forcing people (and apparently, scaring them) into only having sex with 1 person, but in reality, this almost never happens. The vast majority of people have sex with more than 1 person in their lifetime.
And guess what? None of us are “mentally messed up” because of it.
This is how you science.
Oxytocin can be released during a good workout. Must be why I cry hysterically every time I think about my old running shoes. GOD IT MAKES SENSE NOW.
Pharmacists And Doctors In Kansas Can Now Deny Women Access To Birth Control And Chemotherapy
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback (R) signed a bill yesterday that will allow pharmacists in the state to refuse to fill a prescription they think could be used to induce abortion. But since the “conscience” measure says they cannot be required to provide a drug or devise that they think “may result in the termination of a pregnancy” — but does not define which drug in particular — the law’s opponents say it could allow a pharmacist to interfere with a woman’s health care by refusing to distribute birth control or emergency contraception.
Women who already have difficulty obtaining contraception may face additional hurdles, according to Julie Burkhart, founder of an abortion-rights group in Wichita, Kansas:
Burkhart said the law could create a hardship for women in small towns with a sole pharmacist who may refuse to fill certain prescriptions. In larger cities, women will have to make sure they go to a cooperative pharmacist, she added.
“Women should not have to go armed with a lot of research when looking for a physician or pharmacist in the community,” Burkhart said.
No pharmacist could be fired for refusing to fill such prescriptions, and doctors can refuse to refer patients to pharmacists who would fill a birth control prescription.
Additionally, the Associated Press had reported that the law could “allow a doctor to refuse to provide chemotherapy to a pregnant cancer patient because it might end her pregnancy.”
Brownback’s office justified his signing by saying the bill “gives more legal protection to Kansas health care providers who refuse to participate in abortions” based on their conscience. Kansas already had a law that allowed medical professionals to refuse to assist in abortion procedures.
While Kansas lawmakers failed to pass a sweeping anti-abortion bill that would have required doctors to give false information to their patients, the expanded “conscience” law is just one of several laws recently approved in the state that undermine women’s health and well being.

and chemotherapy too. great.
i neither understand or appreciate this shit. seriously.
if you don’t want to do a job that conflicts with your beliefs, find another fucking career.
fucking seriously
things that are the job of a medical professional:
understanding, to the best of your abilities, your patient’s current situation & needs
helping your patient to make informed decisions about their medical care
providing medical care & services to your patient based on their informed decisions, or, in some legally-defined cases, in a way that is generally accepted and promotes that patient’s health & survival according to current guidelines
things that are not the job of a medical professional:
allowing your personal opinions of your patient to interfere with their treatment
going against your patient’s informed decisions
lying to your patient
assuming that you know much more about your patient’s situation and needs (even if you do) and acting on that assumption (even if the world would be, like, so much better if other people did what you wanted them to)
putting your patient’s life and health at risk because of personal issues that you seem to think are relevant to anyone else
I can’t stand people who think that their feelings about what other people do with their body are more important than the owner of that body (obviously if they use that body to go around kicking people in the fork or whatever for no good reason then maybe the person needs a talking to, but shit. if you don’t like abortions don’t have one, that should be the end of your involvement in the issue)
these people should quit the medical/pharma industry or be fired.
from a trebuchet.
A slut is simply defined as a sexually promiscuous person - not someone who deserves to be raped. To imply that being treated “like a slut” is synonymous with getting raped (and then to further imply that it’s not proper rape since they were kind of asking for it) is ridiculous. Do you not understand that the sign supports the situation in which you were abused? Little girls get raped by their step-fathers/fathers/brothers as well. Were THEY dressing in thongs or getting wasted? No. A rape victim is a rape victim, and that other people are no more deserving of forced sex than she is. It can happen to anyone, regardless of moral standards. You’re using your rape as a moral high-ground and that’s sad. It’s called “slutwalk” because people justify rape calling women sluts, which is disgusting on all levels.
My girlfriend (redappleplanet) wrote this response to the awful response this woman left regarding the Slut Walk in NYC; a protest walk against blaming the victim. It seems as though my girlfriend is right, and this woman, regardless of BEING a victim, IS blaming other victims but not herself. I can not stand for this type of hypocrisy. I don’t care WHERE you got raped, RAPE IS WRONG, IN ANY SITUATION, REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU ARE DRESSED OR WHERE YOU ARE. If you believe that a girl who decides to wear a skirt is more deserving of rape than a shut-in, you are allowing the rapist to have that mentality as opposed to fighting against it.
I am not saying they deserve it! I am saying that it helps alot if you provoke men by showing off your wares.
Wrong, beenasonofabitch. If seeing an enticing woman led men to conclude, “I’ve got to rape her,” most men would be rapists. Yet few are. Some rape to feel powerful, others gang rape to demonstrate their “manhood” (powerful, dominant, violent, virile, and not gay) to each other and fraternally bond, some become aroused by sadistically bringing sex and violence together, others seek to harm an entire race, community or nation by using sexual assault as a political weapon, still others seek revenge against someone other than the rape victim. And some misread cues. The number of assaults will not go down if women made sure to cover up

Suicide, in my opinion, is a selfish and terrible act. There are some situations in which it can be useful, but I would call that euthanasia (i.e. if a terminal cancer patient desires to end their life sooner rather than suffer a slow painful death), so as to separate it from suicide. My...
