A missile-defense coalition set up by ten European countries won't be an "iron wall" against Russia, writes the author of China's Sohu portal. On the contrary, its members risk becoming easy targets if they keep up the confrontation with Moscow.
Western Patriot systems burn through expensive missiles faster than they can be produced. And against the Oreshnik, the Sarmat, and the Avangard hypersonic warheads, existing air-defense systems are helpless.
The author calls the new alliance a coalition of "warmongers" — good for making noise in the media and siphoning off budget funds, but of zero real use on the battlefield.
What's more, Europe's militarization gives Russia yet another reason to step up strikes on Ukraine's military-industrial complex. In the end, the missile-defense alliance could come to a bad end: European rocket depots going up in smoke.
