Gotta say, this drawing doesn't have the aura I envisioned but that's kinda just how art works
It's the aftermath of the Omega Flowey "rematch" to me, nothing but a little playfight to make things even and speak to Azzy in his own language
Before succeeding in convincing Asriel to join the surface, Frisk frequently comes down to the underground to chat: talk about life, share how Toriel and Papyrus are doing, complain about Chara, bring snacks and games and slowly bring down Azzy's walls until he's ready to join the surface.
But this is how that tradition started, Frisk barged in a week after the barrier broke, brandishing their stick, to demand a rematch because Azzy giving himself extra souls was totally cheating. Asriel could have ignored or shut down any more normal conversation starters but this one sure broke the ice! Flowey Dreemurr was never a one to back down from a "fight" or a challenge, after all.
Asriel might have said that just dodging and distracting him didn't count as a proper fight, and that if they were gonna keep swinging that stick around and deflecting with it, they could at least try and hit him back. But at the end of the day, it was Frisk's "weenie idiot" method that got the stick under his chin so... Frisk won, and Asriel lost. And Azzy would spend years saying that wasn't true, that he won, or it was a draw, or Frisk was cheating.
But either way, they both suddenly had a lot to talk about. So that's how a proper conversation was started and a proper friendship was formed.
(I think part of the problem is that the rub out lines change Frisk's smug little smirk to an open mouthed smile. And that the stick is way too short and squat when I first drew it as taller than Frisk themself, and Az is too tall in comparison and, you know... having the branch actually touch Az's chin would have given it way more aura.)
