Hey my dude? Do you not also consume sugar, soy, palm oil, tea, coffee, chocolate, bananas, pineapples, charcoal, diamonds, aluminum, oil, copper, gold, and paper? (I mean, Iâm sure most of us donât really go for gold and diamonds and charcoal when we can help it, but boy howdy Iâm p sure every human with the monetary capabilities consumes those other things). What Iâm saying is, it really doesnât make sense to me when non-vegans use this as like an âaha!â moment because you arenât exempt from this either? On top of contributing to animal agriculture and its devastating effects on the earth, you also contribute to the effects of those things, as well? And to top it off, youâre severely misinformed about the environmental and human impact of animal agriculture. Like, Iâm a bit too delirious to link rn ( @theflemface u wanna take this maybe?) but the impact of the meat industry on the rainforest is horrifying. Itâs also the biggest contributor to greenhouse gases. Oh and the people tasked with killing those animals for your consumption? The vast percentage of them are undocumented immigrants and people of color. People drown in manure, some are even forced to wear diapers bc theyâre not allowed bathroom breaks to maximize production. And before you bring up the quinoa debate, Iâve never encountered another vegan who isnât entirely conscious about where their food comes from and trying to consume in the least damaging way possible. That is to say the only people Iâve met that consume it are rich white girls. Vegans know about quinoa. We donât eat it. And like do *you* realize you can be conscious of more than one issue at the same time? I mean, this kinda seems like you canât because youâve incriminated yourself on both fronts. You passively support animal agriculture and its effects, and you passively support the damages wrought by other industries, as well. Youâre doing more damage than good, and really, if you just researched an thought critically about it a moment, you could really do some more good for the world.
