A Sweet Proposal
A short epilogue to Chocolate Frogs
You stood in front of Honeydukes wrapped in your favorite coat. Mattheo had slipped inside the sweets shop promising to be quick. It felt different being back in Hogsmead three years after the end of your time at Hogwarts. The snow decorating the area much like it did back then. Snowflakes drifting lazily in the air. Your eyes tracked a small flake fall from the sky to the ground when you heard your loving boyfriend's voice.
"Sweets."
You turned to find Mattheo on one knee and what looked like a chocolate frog box in his hands, except it was made of polished metals. His eyes showing how nervous he truly was. He opened the box, but instead of a chocolate frog, there was a velvet blue cushion holding a beautiful ring and a note in familiar handwriting.
Will you marry me?
Tears threatened to spill as you nodded your head. "Yes. Of course I'll marry you, Mattheo!"
He beamed the brightest smile you've seen since you agreed to be his girlfriend. He slipped the ring on your hand, then hugged you tightly, spinning you around. Laughter burst from you both as he set you on your feet. Then he kissed you. Blissful, sweet and slow.
Chocolate Frogs
Pairing: Mattheo Riddle x Reader
Summary: a friendship, or something more, forged in passed notes and chocolate frogs
Read the epilogue A Sweet Proposal
A chocolate frog hopped onto your notes leaving little smudges of chocolate on the parchment as it went. Keeping your head down, you scan the quiet History of Magic classroom. Most students were idly taking notes as Professor Binns droned on. Others toward the back of the room were softly snoring. Nothing out of the ordinary until, out of the corner of your eye, you noticed the Slytherin boy assigned to sit next to you.
An echo of a pout on his face, but it was the chocolate smear at the corner of his lips that caught your attention. Who knew Mattheo Riddle enjoyed sweets, you thought while trying to catch up on your notes.
Tap, tap, tap...tap, tap, tap.
Glancing over to Riddle once more you could see he was looking at the blackboard, but his right hand was tapping his quill against some spare parchment.
You let my snack get away.
You bit your bottom lip in thought before quickly writing a response. Serves you right for eating in class, Riddle.
You know my name?
Of course I know who you are.
That's cute. Been admiring me, have you?
No.
Shame. You should.
You knew he was smirking in that flirty way he did with all the girls your year. You slid the note back with a roll of your eyes. Don't flatter yourself. We've had classes together for six years now.
Professor Binns dismissed the class before you got to read Riddle's reply. You spared him a final glance before leaving. Smirk and chocolate gone. Just him, quietly reading over your last response.

The weekend went by uneventfully. Studying, assignments, and a trip to Honeydukes. Now, you were preparing your ink and lucky quill for a History of Magic test.
You set a small box in the empty space beside you. The blue and gold of the chocolate frog box stood out on top of the fading table. A small scroll reading, For the frog that got away, tied off with a green ribbon sat next to it.
Riddle took his seat by you as the test was being handed out. He looked from the box to you and back again. He didn't say anything, but his smirk grew as he pocketed the box and the note.
The test wasn't too difficult thanks to all your studying over the weekend. You turned in your test to Professor Binns then went back to your seat. A scrap piece of parchment with neat hand writing was waiting for you.
A chocolate frog for me? You're a woman after my heart, Sweets.
You rolled your eyes, but had to bite your bottom lip to hide your smile.

Weeks went by in a similar fashion. Notes passed back and forth during class. Riddle going through countless boxes of chocolate frogs.
Later on in History of Magic, Mattheo Riddle was already sitting at your shared table when you got there. His green Slytherin tie loose. Dark hair a mess. A piece of ripped parchment waiting with a message next to an empty chocolate frog box. You're late.
You quietly wrote a reply after flipping open your text book. And you look like you've been in a broom closet with Lavender Brown.
He gasped, dramatically holding his heart as if you'd physically wounded him.
"I'm glad you're so passionate about today's subject, Mr. Riddle," stated Professor Binns.
"Always, Professor."
Professor Binns just hummed and turned to the blackboard to start his lesson. You smirked at Mattheo who glared back. He slid the parchment back to you. 1. How dare you! & 2. Jealous?
Absolutely not.
Sure, Sweets.
You didn't dare look, but you knew he had that smirk again.
In your dreams, Riddle.
Why were you late? You're never late.
You hoped he didn’t notice your hesitation before writing a reply. Had a run-in with Cormac.
McLaggen? What did that tosser want?
Nothing he's going to get from me.
Let me know if he bothers you again.
I can handle myself.
Never said you couldn't, Sweets.
It's not a big deal.
Just, tell me next time. Please?
Okay, Riddle.

This time, you were the first to sit at your assigned table in History of Magic. Riddle no where in sight. Charmed chalk copied important facts and quotes as Binns talked. The lecture felt more boring than ever without Riddle to pass notes with.
Professor Binns was well into his lesson when the door opened. A scowling Riddle walked in, put a pass on the Professor's desk, then took his seat next to you. No one dared say anything.
From the corner of your eye you could see the fresh bruise on his cheek. You slid some spare parchment over to him. You're late, Riddle.
Miss me, Sweets?
No.
Liar.
Does it hurt as bad as it looks?
If I didn't know better, I'd think you're starting to care about me.
Good thing you know better then.
He laughed under his breath at that. Turning ever so slightly, he flashed you a quick smile. Not his flirt filled smirk. An actual smile. His busted lip splitting once more. Something about it made your heart jump a little, like a chocolate frog.

"Riddle, can I talk to you?" You stood just behind him and his friends at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall. They all looked at you in various states of confusion or curiosity. Mattheo Riddle blinked at you with those dark eyes. The bruise on his face looking worse than it had during class.
"Uh, yeah." He said and led you out of the Great Hall to an empty alcove nearby. "Everything okay, Sweets?"
Hearing the nickname from him for the first time sent butterflies to your stomach. You tried to push past the feeling. "Did you fight with Cormac?"
His jaw ticked and tensed. He refused to meet your eyes.
"I overheard his quidditch mates saying he was in the hospital wing." You watched his whole body tense. "Did it have anything to do with me?"
His chest deflated as he sighed. "Yes."
"I told you I can handle myself."
He looked to the floor. "I know."
"Then will you tell me why?" You gently reached for his hand and held it in both of yours when he didn't pull away. His knuckles looking worse for wear. "Please?" You whispered.
His jaw ticked again. "Bloody tosser was saying things about you. Things no respectable man should say." His eyes finally met yours. "Especially, not about you."
Your heart jumped again. The urge to kiss him growing the longer he held your gaze.
"Sweets?"
"Yes?"
"Are you disappointed in me?"
"No, Riddle." You gave a half smile. "Your heart was in the right place."
He moved closer until he was a breath away. Your hands moving to lay on his chest while his cup your face. His dark eyes searching yours. Then, softer than you’ve ever heard, "May I kiss you?"
You answered him by closing the distance. Your lips meeting his. The faint taste of chocolate lingering there. A blissful, sweet, slow kind of kiss. His forehead rested on yours as he broke the kiss. His dark eyes shining in the low light of the alcove.
"Sweets?" He asked, voice low.
You hummed, admiring his face.
"Go to Hogsmead with me?"
"On one condition. You let me buy you a pack of chocolate frogs."
"Only if you stop calling me Riddle."
"What should I call you instead?"
He put each hand on either side of your waist, pulling you closer. His brow scrunched in mock thought. Lips brushing your forehead. "Your boyfriend?"
You rolled your eyes, but kissed his dumb smile anyway. Who knew Mattheo Riddle enjoyed sweets.
Hello,
I'm quite new to tumblr, so I hope I am doing this right. May I request the "Who I ship you with Moodboard"?
Bits about me: I'm short (like no more than 5ft), long red hair (pale skin and freckles of course) and blue/grey eyes, Ravenclaw - I enjoy books and reading and being on my own from time to time (parties are definitely not my thing). I find the moon beautiful, along with the stars.
Your writing is wonderful! I'm interested to see what you create. Thank you! (If you need more please let me know)
Hello! Welcome to Tumblr, I hope your experience has been good so far, and thank you for your request. As shocking as this might be, I ship you with the one and only Theodore Nott! It’s just, for me, the RavenclawxSlytherin ships are the very best, and just your description and the things you like it was like “Theo”.
I hope you like your moodboard! <3
