As soon as they entered the Great Hall, the whispers started. People were staring shamelessly but James didn’t give a damn. He was happy, happier than he’d been in a very long time. Both of them sat down and Prongs didn’t hesitate in devouring some scrambled eggs. ” ‘This’ being us? Or all the staring?”, he questioned, cocking his head to one side.

Lily had tried to ignore all the looks but she had to look up when James mentioned it. "Both?" she smiled nervously. "I'm not that used to people looking at me. I hate attention." she mumbled. 

She chewed absentmindedly on her toast. "I guess you're used to it though."

He ran a nervous hand through his hair, “I’m sorry Lily that was uncalled for. Really, he’s your son. If you think he’s ready, then you take him. But I’ll just stand by the gate, alright?”

In his mind, he could picture Lily crying over James’ grave. He needed to be strong for her, he couldn’t cry. He had done enough crying when James had been killed.

"No. You're right." Lily said stubbornly before setting the pie down on the table, going back to fetch plates and glasses. "Harry, do you want some pie?" 

She turned to look at Remus as Harry came running towards them. "I hope you'll like it." she smiled.

"I’m pregnant and it’s yours."

"You… You’re what?" Remus asked, shocked. Merlin, she was pregnant?! 

"How do you know?! I thought I used protec- I thought you were on the pill! What if James finds out, Merlin Lily you are married to him!”

"You do realise protection only works 97% of the time? Same with the pill, there's no guarantee." Lily sighed. "I know whom I'm married to, Remus. What do we do?" she bit her lip nervously.

 "Do you want to be blunt and say ‘Daddy is dead dearest, here is where his corpse is’ ?" Perhaps his tone was more sharp than he had intended but it seemed Lily was being unbelievably thick.

Lily gaped at Remus. She was prepared to reply, to get angry, but she was just too tired. Of course Remus wouldn't understand. She wasn't even sure if she did. "The pie has cooled off by now." She turned around and focused on slicing up the pie. "Take a seat."

Sirius snorted at Lily. “I’m fine. I’ve got my best mates, my pack, I dont need anyone else…” He smiled wide at her. “Dont worry about it.” He elbowed Lily with a friendly shine in his eyes.

"You sure about that though?" Lily elbowed him back. "I know how stubborn boys can be. But I'm glad you've got your pack, as you put it." she chuckled. "Where are you living now though? When you're not here at Hogwarts to grace me with your presence of course." she grinned.

He glanced at Harry, he was sat on the couch munching on chocolate. Looking back at Lily, he frowned. “Are you certain, Lily? He is still very young, and a graveyard on Halloween is probably not the best idea.”

Lily stepped closer to Remus. "He knows his father is...gone." she whispered. "He keeps asking where daddy is and saying heaven is a bit vague in my opinion. I don't think it would hurt him, Remus. He'll have to see the grave eventually."

"Yeah, really." He went silent when she asked him that. Why couldn’t she just go alone? He didn’t think he could handle seeing her breakdown, let alone, what would he do to comfort her? He wasn’t James. 

"Yes, I’ll go with you. It’s fine. But what about Harry?"

Lily took a deep breath to steady herself. "I want to take Harry with me. It's time for him to see...you know, to actually see where..." she wiped away a few tears. "It's time for him to see it." she smiled sadly.

 Sirius scoffed. “I am the brains, Evans. Me and James come up with the idea and plan it out. Remus checks it over and makes sure that it will work. And we havent been doing much lately because I’ve been dealing with howlers every morning. Blacks dont take disinheritance well… I’ve gotten howlers from cousins I dont even know…”

Lily was about to make a joke before Sirius told the rest of his story. She had heard about it, rumours tend to fly a lot after all, but she had never asked Sirius about it. "I heard about that.." she said carefully. "Wasn't sure if it were true. How are you taking it?" she looked at him and her smile was now gone, instead she felt concerned for him. She'd had a fallout with her sister, but that was entirely different than being disowned from your family. She couldn't help feeling sorry for Sirius.

Sirius pressed his lips together and pretended to weigh the idea in his head. Then he chuckled and shook his head. “It would be cool, but it wouldnt work. You have to be realistic, Evans.”

"Oh, I have to be realistic? A bit rich, coming from you, don't you think?" She raised an eyebrow. "None of your pranks seem realistic, yet somehow you make it work..I'm sure Remus could come up with a realistic spell or something that would make it happen. He's the brain out of you four, isn't he?" Lily smiled. "I have to admit though..haven't seen a lot of Maraudering lately. You boys retiring early?"

"Oh whoops," Remus said with a smile. "Hey Harry, toss me a piece." With a grin, he caught the mini chocolate bar tossed at him.

Tearing into it, he paused as he noticed Lily’s deep breath. “Lily,” he said hesitantly. “If you want to maybe go.. to the cemetery, I can stay here and watch Harry. It’s no trouble.”

"Really?" Lily smiled at Remus, pretending her eyes wasn't starting to tear up. "Well..actually, I was going to ask you.." she said slightly nervously. "..if you want to go with me? I..I know it's just as difficult for you as it is for me, but I d-don't think I want to go alone. Not tonight."

Sirius chuckled and offered his arm to her, like a gentleman at a ball. He looked up at her, smirking. His smile reached his grey eyes. He laughed and licked his lips. 

"I would never blow up the school. I could never do it, and it would just be a waste of fireworks." He added sweetly, smiling.

Lily linked her arm with his and started walking next to him. "Perhaps not the whole school. But don't pretend blowing up the Slytherin Common Room doesn't sound tempting to you?" she smirked up at him.

"You lied to me!

"What?!" Lily looked at Remus in complete shock. "What do you mean I lied to you? I've never lied to you, Remus Lupin!" Lily blushed angrily. Okay, maybe she had said a few white lies, but nothing serious. Why was he so angry with her? What did he think she had done? "What's wrong with you?"
