i don’t know who’s idea was it to have eddie kiss helena even though he was lecturing her but this is perfect.

when you lecture narcissistic parents they tend to think that you are completely against them, that you hate them and everything you’re doing is to piss them off. they think your whole life revolves around them and having eddie doing that gesture is a way to show her that this is not the case. this isn’t about hating helena or ramon this is about eddie being a father to chris. he even made sure to say that this whole thing doesn’t take away the fact that they’re still his grandparents and chris still love them but they aren’t his parents.

ryan guzman calling buck joy, even if he just took it from a famous saying, is insane. he watches a lot of edits, he probably saw that quote from his talk with father brian a thousand times, so there’s no way he forgot about it, yet he chose to call buck that ? yeah sure

this week episode and interviews make me think that buddie may never happen but then i remember tim minear interview from last year :

“Nobody wants to be accused of queerbaiting so I kind of stopped writing those characters together. And I think it hurt the show because I was so afraid to be accused of something that I wasn’t going where I would naturally go with the stories. I just decided that I just have to write the thing that I think is right. I just have to be honest with the story I’m telling and let the chips fall where they may”

this is pretty telling! if he was so afraid of being accused of queerbaiting, to the point that he stopped writing them together, why would he bring up possible feelings from buck ? unless there’s actually something coming ! the writers could have easily kept their friendship separate from buck’s love life, but instead, they’re making eddie to be key part of it, and that alone says a lot. because otherwise, it would just reinforce the very thing tim said he was trying to avoid.

i know he’s a pathological liar but this is a serious topic.

i do think buddie is probably not happening instantly. they might be taking the time by first exploring buck’s feelings, letting him struggle a bit with what eddie means to him before anything actually happens between them. and they’re also the difficulty of eddie’s sexuality. the big moment could come later in the season, maybe as a realization from buck, a change in eddie’s behavior, or even a cliffhanger that would set up their relationship for the next season.

tommy is far from likable but if anyone on this show is legitimately able to see eddie as gay it’s him. he has an insight of what eddie might be going through that the other wouldn’t .

his coming out came so late in his life that he knows what it might looks like on someone. he spent his whole life repressing himself, molding into what people expected, even almost marrying a woman (which eddie has done).

when he implies that he’s not convinced that eddie is straight, it does not come from eddie telling him but he sees something familiar, that most people wouldn’t pick up, but tommy does because at one point he was eddie. he picks up the subtle things, the way it’s shapes, how someone move through the world. certain reactions, small defenses and deflections that feels a little too familiar. their situation are not identical but it’s similar enough for tommy to clock him.
