Young kittypet Josie gets caught up in a downpour while trying to reach Moonclan, the home of their best friend Wolfstar. A sudden flood brings them to Wishclan instead, where they take on the role of an apprentice. But with the clan's haunting past still unresolved and a mysterious starry cat watching them from afar, the newly named Hazelpaw feels like their arrival may have not been entirely accidental.

Red Smoke is a warrior cats fancomic written with older fans in mind, who wish to see a darker and more mature take on the series. Because of this, the comic is reccomended for readers teen and up.

Because I don't have every detail of the story written out just yet, new content warnings might be added in the future. However, THE TOPICS OF SEXUAL ASSULT AND PEDOPHILIA/CSA WILL NEVER APPEAR IN THIS COMIC. I wanted to be clear about this becasue this is a common trigger for a lot of folk, so if you're worried about it ever being included in Red Smoke, you're safe.

Happy Pride to all of Tumblr! Even though the comic will be on hiatus for most of this month (Throw homophobia alligations at my university, not me) I still thought it'd be nice to make a pride icon.

Red Smoke is a story that touches on the subject of queerness and in some parts derives from my own experiences. We haven't seen much of that just yet, but this year quite a few LGBTQ+ members of the cast are gonna be introduced. Josie/Hazelpaw's queerness is also something that'll be explored more in the future ^^ Their lack of gender identity is something very important to them and tied to their status as an intersex person. Being someone who's whole being exists outside the binary norms isn't always easy, but they won't let it stop them from being who they are.

May all of you have a wonderful pride. I hope all of you can find a place where you belong and can be your true self <3

Just as we get more cat peril I have to announce that Red Smoke will be going on a three week hiatus after the 6th of June. I need to get my degree and rebuild my backlog. However, I do have a treat for you once that's done. At the beggining of July (starting July 2nd) you'll get three extra pages, released one day at a time!
