hiiiii
there will be no first of the month lore for June
after the artfight update happens I'm finally going to finish off updating my profile
I already have a crazy amount of bookmarks,,, oh well
one of my moots puts name pronunciation things on their blog posts sometimes and it did make me thing about Yrjö and Jökull’s names bc they’re not that intuitive unless you’re from the Nordic area perhaps so here:
yrjö (ur-yuh)
jökull (yuh-kuh-tch)
Does the title of Santiago's book (Abajo de la sangre) have a meaning?
yes, it means “beneath the blood.” I elaborated on it a lil bit on one of my last posts, but his book was themed around religion and disability through a fictional retelling of traveling through hell. Honestly I started a draft for this post like 3 times and I really have trouble explaining the story so here is a poorly written synopsis that is very vague to give you some idea (?) of what it's about...
poorly written synopsis: Beneath your blood is hell, and to escape it you have to come back up, but it isn't easy. When the demons come to you, you'll never have been able to predict it. Next you'll wake up in a arid red desert where you can't scream, you can't speak, you can only look ahead and await what fate decides for you. Some try to fight back, but how much can you fight before your body surrenders?
shout out to @sarabeesblog for being my awesome epic amazing friend and my awesome epic amazing translator for all things spanish russian and french
@bioniclechronicles I saw in the tags of my post you asked if he still writes which is actually something I wanted to discuss to elaborate on that post anyways.
Santiago still writes very frequently. He writes for the Council (transcriptionist, after all) but he also writes for himself. He writes all kinds of things— autobiographical stuff, nonfiction, fiction, science related, history related, poems, vignettes, all the things. One thing he never does though is share them. when Santiago was alive, he was so deep into writing Abajo de le sangre that he never had time to write anything else unless it was for the newspaper. There were many genres and formats he wanted to try but never got around to it. Most of his afterlife has been exploring those different types of writing and having fun with it.
But also on the note of Abajo de la sangre, he never finished (as mentioned). There is a scene in the story where Jökull is actually asking him about his writing and Santiago does bring up this book. Jökull asked if he could read it, and to his surprise Santiago never finished it. Once he died he gave up. The whole point was to connect himself amongst the people he knew, so there was no longer a point. And I can do a deeper dive into the book at some other point (but I’m feeling a little lazy right now) but it wasn’t necessarily just an autobiography or anything. It was actually a fictional story that had a lot to do with religion and traveling through hell. So Jökull couldn’t really wrap his head around the fact that he would just ditch this project he quite literally spent his whole life on. To that Santiago shrugs and says he has better things to do.
huge fan of when a character used to be a completely different character. huge fan of two characters who are physically the same but mentally they are completely different. huge fan of when the former character is replaced by the latter character and it causes crazy shit to go down
Okay, we've established that everyone has a death mark. Now, how do the ghost council characters feel about their death marks? Do any of them really hate them, or are they all pretty neutral about it?
Also what do death marks feel like? Is it just a color difference or is it raised or warm or what? Also how aware of the death marks are characters? Do they ever cause discomfort? Do characters ever judge others on how they died if the mark is visible?
I’ve broken up the death mark feelings into 3 categories of hate, moderately dislike, and neutral. Hate means they REALLY do not like their death mark, moderately dislike is they wish they didn’t have it but it’s not the end of the world, and neutral is eh I don’t care.
Hate: Sun, Jökull
Moderately dislike: Hibiki, Yrjö, Taro
Neutral: Eloise, Raymond, Jaya, Sophia, Santiago
Sun does not like her death mark because it takes away from her happy and cute aesthetic. It’s almost like a constant reminder of what her life used to be like. For this reason she covers it up with a choker. Jökull has never specified why he hates his death mark so much but he does make it known to the others. He calls it ugly, his only flaw, a disease, etc. Nobody has ever seen his death mark though so they don’t typically comment on it.
Hibiki is not fond of his death mark because he doesn’t like the fact that it’s visible to everyone. When he first died, he tried to hide it by wearing a shirt with a turtleneck-type collar. It was eventually seen by another member and he gave up the act. It makes him feel weak, especially since he is not the one who was killed. Yrjö is annoyed by how large his death mark is. It practically spreads over his whole body. If it was on just one part of his body he wouldn’t really mind that much; the sheer size of the mark makes him less fond of it. Taro does not like their death mark because of its association with their ex-boyfriend. Considering how much ptsd they already have surrounding their death, it’s just a painful reminder of who killed them.
To address the other part of your question, death marks don’t really feel like anything. They’re mainly just a different color and they also sink into the skin slightly. I would say that the most important thing to know about death marks is that if you were trying to double kill a ghost, striking over the death mark is most fatal (which is unfortunate for those like Yrjö with larger death marks because it makes them more vulnerable). For example, if you wanted Hibiki dead you would need to hit him with a weapon in the neck. Also to add to that, hitting a ghost over their death mark with a weapon laced in level 10 double is like…instant death.
And for the last part about judging others, it’s honestly not that common. Everybody died somehow and everybody has a death mark so it’s not really something to bully people over. And that’s not to say it never happens because it does, it just isn’t common.
if your mutuals are watching a hockey game you will NOT be told:
who is winning
the score
what goalie interference is
you WILL be told:
everyone involved needs to die
sidney crosby is older and more beautiful
how crazy would it be if I told you one of my lore secrets
Hibiki isn’t the only one on the council who's made a deal with Boss
silly question time yayyy
what are your favourite ocs favourite plants?:3
hmmm…good silly question… I’m honestly not that educated on plants tbh so this will not be very in depth or specific
Petrov likes dandelions bc 1) they’re fun to blow 2) they make pretty flowers 3) they’re abundant 4) they make good tea
Hibiki is a poppy kind of guy…they’re red and you can make opium with them
Yrjö is a lily of the valley enjoyer forever but he also likes to grow things like trees but idrk anything about trees…omg but I think he’d have a lil bonsai garden omg…but like Yrjö just likes every plant so like
Santiago probably likes the stringey plants that you put in the pots that hang dykwim (😭😭😭 I’m so good at this)
I think Rin would like succulents since they’re easy to take care of but make his space look nicer
Worthen likes lilies which I don’t have an explanation for he just does
Illy and Kanjo would like air plants because they can’t kill them 😭
I MISSED Raymond's birthday last week but it shan't happen again!!
Today is Eloise's birthday so her and Raymond get a joined birthday this year
You brought this upon yourself by letting me know the ghost council birthdays >:)
It may not be the best/most accurate doodle but drawing happy Raymond healed my soul I think.
dude how the hell are you keeping track of this because even I didn’t know this because I never keep track of birthdays 😭😭😭 I always say I will and then I don’t ever and I’m highkey impressed by your efforts

sending you an ask bcz you got an evil scam ask
does anyone else aside from raymond have a death mark? like would Jaya have a stab wound as a death mark since she got stabbed and died from that?
yes! Everybody has a unique death mark related to their death. I’ve been meaning to make a post about this on my main but just keep putting it off. here’s a quick little rundown of each death mark:
Hibiki - scar on his neck (trauma to the neck)
Eloise - swirls on her neck (drowning)
Raymond - X eye (shot in the eye)
Sun - rope mark on neck (suicide)(also you can’t typically see hers, she wears a choker over it)
Yrjö - cracks on his body (illness)
Jaya - wound on chest (stabbed) (never been seen)
Taro - circular wound on head (gunshot)
Sophia - wound on stomach (stabbed)
Santiago - heart outline on chest (heart attack)
Jökull - Snowflake on back (hypothermia)(never been seen)
at one point I had an idea to have a sequence where Jökull is transported to a dimension by Six where he and Santiago come back to life in an alternate reality but as two different people. I still have the sketches from that and I'm thinking of bringing it back because I do think doing that illustrates Jökull's motives a bit more
