Ok, my dear other birds, I’d like to make yall aware of something.

Bird leg tags as rings. I think (if I’ve mathed this out right) a 20mm one should fit one of my fingers, it’s also a split ring so I can adjust a little.

And we can put our ID numbers and names on them.

Also, would other birds be interested in a directory of us birds using our ID numbers? Please tell me if so.

I got inspired by @yourlocalbirdie and her Saker kinsona to make this little guy!

It’s not a kinsona exactly, more a character I projected my falconry bird feels onto? But I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

The gear I included are a hood, some leather jesses, and a tail mount with telemetry. I went with an Eurasian Kestrel as I associate that kintype with falconry more, but the feathers on the hood are Wallace’s Hawk-Eagle crest feathers.

(Traditionally, this tassel-like part was made of feathers from a falcon’s catches, used as a bit of a trophy that show the bird’s success. Nowadays, it’s usually just leather. It’s quite useful for putting the hood on and taking it off.)

Today was a special day for me :) Finally got myself my first tattoo which I designed (based off my fursona and my theriotype), didin't hurt me at all and I am SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS !!

These eyes limit my vision. They focus only on the biggest things. My nose is not long enough. Smells can't come in like they should. And so I am a useless hunter. My fingers blister when I crawl. My knuckles bony and painful on hard ground. They are not the padded paws they should be. My bones hurt if I sit directly where it should be. There is always something missing. My missing tail. My backside is useless lumps of flesh that my posture does not fit. There's too much of it. And the muscles: no use. For when I'm on all fours, my muscles work differently. I am always jarring into my shoulders. I'm never led by my head as I should be. My neck strains when I lift it.

It is a constant reminder that I don't live in the body I should.

I hate being aviankin

atleast with my other (non-flighted) kintypes I share the experience of walking the Earth like they did. But I will never fly like any bird. It is impossible to. Even in the forms of flight humans have developed, it would be impossible for me to fly like a bird.

I feel like my wings have been cut off to tame me or some dumb shit like that.

knowing i'll never be able to fly makes me sickly jealous of seeing birds flying. Genuinely the amount of longing and jealously I feel seeing any type of bird is too much to describe, especially when seeing birds of prey.

idk. atleast with my other kintypes there's some part of being it that I enjoy. there's nothing I enjoy about being aivankin
