I had a great thought.
Scooby Doo, but gritty remake. Riverdale without the bad writing.
Ok, so, Freddy is a jock who’s actually really smart and doesn’t hide it, but he has a lot of problems with accepting loss, because his father has pushed perfection on him to the point of developing OCD. He also has an obsession with Ruth Goldberg machines
Daphne is your classic rich girl and officially she’s dating Freddy, but in reality it’s all fake and she’s super gay, she just didn’t want to out herself in middle school and now she feels trapped. She’s also tired of being only seen as Fred Jones Arm Candy. (P.S. The fake dating was totally Freddie’s idea)
Shaggy is a burnout from L.A. with ptsd from family abuse and Scooby is his service animal. He used to get beat by his biological family and he got saved by CPS and got lucky enough to end up in a foster family. When he was diagnosed, he got to choose a service dog (as per his therapist’s orders) and he chose the biggest and weirdest, a mangy Great Dane with black and brown spots. Also, he’s aro/ace
Finally Velma, an open bisexual in a mid western town. She’s actually super into punk rock (Hex Girls) but she wears a tough exterior to scare bigots off, she’s actually a sweetheart, but has major trust issues. She and shaggy have been friends since he came to town and she usually spends a lot of time at his place since she lives alone
I must give @donutgeek3 credit for surviving the first brain blast of this. Lemme know what y’all think.
Before she learns about his secret identity, Lois Lane thinks Clark Kent is a goddamn mess
She goes to his place to work on a joint article and it takes her like half an hour to find out that Clark lives in an absolutely nonfunctional house
She has to change a lightbulb but there are no stools, no sufficiently high chairs, no way of reaching the ceiling unless you find a way to climb the walls. “How the hell do you change your bulbs?” she asks. Clark mutters something about misplacing the footstool and helps her drag the table from the kitchen to the living room.
Lois watches Clark make lasagna and has to physically restrain him from pulling the tray out of the oven with his bare hands. “Are you out of your goddamn MIND?” she yells, scrambling to pull him away on time. “What are you DOING? WHERE ARE THE OVEN MITTS?” and Clark is just like “Right…..oven mitts…….. I think I lost them with the uh. footstool” both he and Lois pause for a moment to engage in a riveting game of Mentally Punch Clark
Lois runs into the bathroom to put on a disguise and yells out, “Where do you keep your razor?” There’s a gust of wind and Clark comes back with slightly windswept hair. “I got it!” he says with unwarranted triumph. “It’s right here. The razor I use.” Lois looks at it and it is CLEARLY recently purchased and never used and she’s just like. I don’t even care anymore
For weeks she just assumes Clark is missing some crucial element in his home and starts stacking her own things all over the place. Lois thinking Clark has no clue how to take care of himself while Clark is Eternally Tormented and has to find ways to keep his identity a secret while living in close quarters, and the slow burn mutual pining roommates AU of my dreams begins
i want to fall asleep talking to the person i love. i want to revel in the domestic beauty of it all. i want quiet nights in and fun nights out, i want lunch dates and vacations. i want to be excited to wake up because i get to see them smile. i want someone to love and be domestic with. i crave it. forget desires and wishes. the hope that one day i'll get that, that domestic life, is the Only thing keeping me going. it's the only true goal i have in life.
I love the idea that because demons are fallen angels, they’re still bound to follow holy orders, hence why simple exorcisms made of just a few sentences can get rid of demons capable of destroying entire cities.
1000 Year Old Demon: [destroying a town] Exorcist: Don’t do that. 1000 Year Old Demon: Aww dang.

I can’t stand… book culture. One time someone got me a canvas bag that was like “Books + Tea = Perfect Day” and I drove to goodwill with that shit so fast
Most books suck. Most books are goddamn awful or utterly extraneous. Don’t get me wrong, I think we’re deeply lucky to live in a world where most books can vanish without us losing anything culturally or intellectually, rather than a world where books are so scarce that a single person might own like twelve in a lifetime. But still. Books are easy to aestheticize as Magical Portals of Adventure and Whimsy if you only read maybe two genres
AH! Words for that whole… situation.
I work at a public library and book culture there is nauseating. Not really among the other employees (though we’ve had a few come through over the years), but the patrons?
Oh god the patrons. Most of the people who check out books are just regular people who like reading. I even have patrons who L O V E to read, and who spend a majority of their free time reading or discussing books, they’re part of multiple book clubs, they always bring a big bag and leave with it full. They aren’t the Book Culture People.
Book Culture People loudly announce that they’re so surprised that there are children who know what books are!
They act affronted when I mention our ebook service, and scoff at the idea that anyone could enjoy reading from a screen instead of off the page!
They are personally offended that publishers hire actors to read the books for audio versions, because they feel that “audio books cheapen the experience of reading” and “audio books are cheating”!
They have to proclaim their fetish for ‘real’ books, whether through tacky tote bags, weird quote filled pinterest boards and social media posts, or awkwardly shoehorning unimpressive humblebrags about all the classics that they’re reading into unrelated conversations with tired library assistants.
They’re terrible, and I resent them because I fear being grouped with them by the nature of my field.
I was literally just talking about a friend whose classmate in her library science program was bragging because she didn’t use any digital resources for her final paper because she “respected books too much.” It’s such a bizarre attitude for anyone, much less an aspiring librarian, to have
I’ve also been approached by people while I read in public who are like “Oh my GOSH it’s so GOOD to see other people who READ nowadays!! Honestly I just have NO hope for our generation” and it’s like, first of all if you’re a reader you should know the last thing anyone wants is to be interrupted by a stranger for unnecessary conversation, and second please shut up holy crap
Oh god, I’ve heard that one before.
Hating accessible books and shunning technology is basically the antithesis of modern librarianship.
I don’t get the ebook hate, ebooks are literally just books. You cite ebooks the same way, and depending on the format, you don’t even say they’re ebooks.
It’s a performative, self important approach to something that I genuinely enjoy, and I think it bothers me more than, say, fandom antics, just because it’s so much more common. People get offended when I tell them I don’t read a lot in my down time, that I genuinely prefer audio books, that I’ll skip their recommendations because I don’t share their tastes.
It’s so… boring.
“People don’t reeeeead nowadays, everyone spends all their time looking at their phoooooones”
My dude
The thing that they are looking at
Is words made of text
People who take an aspect of their lifestyle like reading (or being vegan, because Book Culture People are basically the That Vegan of reading) and turn it into an identity are compensating for something seriously lacking within themselves. And while I understand that many of them are maybe doing this as a result of some kind of emotional damage or pain, as much as I empathize, I also don’t have the patience to deal with that shit near me.
I was literally just talking about a friend whose classmate in her library science program was bragging because she didn’t use any digital resources for her final paper because she “respected books too much.” It’s such a bizarre attitude for anyone, much less an aspiring librarian, to have
This is so cringey, especially considering that way back in my first week of library school, our professor very pointedly said “If you’re only here because you love books you’re signing up for the wrong profession.”
Just finished a session with some first time D&D players and this is the description sheet for a player’s human bard who casts spells by giving informational speeches
raw chaotic neutral
New superhero: Crime Man.
He stops crimes exclusively by comitting crimes. He out-crimes the criminals.
The Punisher does this and the crime is murder
The Punisher doesn’t stop crime, he punishes criminals. Big difference. Crime Man is more proactive than that.
So what you really mean is like. A totalitarian government that profiles people and arrests them before they commit crimes (which is a crime)
No, it’s more like stopping a credit fraud from happening by comitting arson.
*A mugger threatening me with a knife* Give me your money! *Crimeman appearing from the darkness with a bigger knife* NO CRIMINAL! You give me YOUR money!
I love the efforts to get deeply analytical and political but op just shuts them down with no crime man does CRIME
BUT BETTER
He finds out someone’s planning to rob the bank so he robs it first so there isn’t any money left when they get there.
Armed robbery? Hold their family hostage until they deliver their guns in an unmarked bag behind a gas station
shirt and pants with horizontal black and white stripes
A black domino mask
A dark grey wool hat
a big sack with a dollar sign on it where he stores his gadgets
a yellow sash reading “CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS”

did I get it right?
Now that’s a hero if I’ve ever seen one.
Check out this amazing Crime Man comic by @micaxiii
You do the crime, you get the crime.
The plan is working!
HE LOOKS LIKE THE QUOTE ‘Be Gay Do Crimes”
He is gay, and does crimes.
Crime Man strikes again
I like Crime man
And Crime Man likes you too
