Unless I manage to pull out a miracle in the next hour or two, I don't think a birthday update is likely. I could maybe get it done between tonight, my break tomorrow, and the couple hours after I celebrate tomorrow night...but I want to leave room for bugfixing and testing.

Development Hiatus don't count minor or visual updates of already published games but it does mean no complete development of a new project until I'm back on track. That being said I do have a tons of small project I am putting on hold and would like to develop in the future. This post is just a lil cluster of all the designs wips I have as of now so you can all a small visions of what might be made in the future.
This devblog will stay active and I'll inform you when I get back into developing the next major update of Apple Bag at the end of this years.

New locations ?! Apple bag's update is coming up soon and with it, over 40 new backgrounds.
For the fun fact, most backgrounds are photos I took myself with my phone. Yes I went to a forest, a funfair, an aquarium, random french old town and someone's appartment for photos... I'm an invested dev.
pssst, i noticed that some people struggle to draw tamarack as a plus sized character. maybe you just don't know where to start, which is why i wanted to make this post!
i am not super qualified on this topic, so take everything with a grain of salt. but, these details on tamaracks body are often ignored by the fandom, so i thought I'd point them out! please feel free to link down more detailed resources below ^^
okay, first. the face. fat doesn't only affect the body, it also affects the face. in this image, you can see that qiu has a defining jawline from the chin to the ear. tamarack has a softer one because there is fat underneath her face.

okay, next is her body. OL has a lot of different body types -- using only one type of sketch for all bodies will not suffice.

i do really want to stress one thing: please stop emphasizing tamaracks chest in step 2.
i saw a lot of people drawing her with curves, and i believe those people should do better.
her body is more rectangular than curvy, and just looking at her makes that clear. the unnecessary sexualization of teenage characters, whether on purpose or not, is something we should really stride to avoid.
another thing that people struggle with is drawing her side profile. remember that her body will also be wider from the sides (just like how it is from the front).
and again, like what i said earlier, while tamaracks body changes throughout the step, she will still be plus sized.
remember that fat is distributed through many parts of the body. which is why i want to talk about arms!
okay cough I don't have any good references for this.
BUT !! look at the way her arm is curved.

another thing I want to note: look at their fingers. every body is different, but thicker bodies often have thicker fingers.
i also want to add that while the game doesn't show anything beneath their upper thighs, tamarack still has fat on her legs!
the upper legs will have more fat, and the legs will have curves insyead of going straight down.
don't be afraid to draw tamarack with folds, with a double chin, with stretchmarks. I'd say changing her body to fit your/societal standards is a worse move anyways!
i want to close this by saying that anything can be learned. you don't have to be afraid of drawing characters with unique characteristics because i promise that as long as you're respectful and kind, the people around you will return that energy!
and always, ALWAYS look at references. if you cant find any in game, look for some online! pinterest, tiktok, and google are my favourite places to look.
