stellagoodman:
It was like something in him changed when she revealed she finally figured out that he was high. It was like he became this whole new person who never cared about her, who was cruel and mean and that terrified Stella. How could she have never seen this side of Reed? Was it because she never really angered him to experience firsthand what her boyfriend was capable? His words caused her to visibly wince, feeling this pain shooting through her chest. The man she trusted completely was now cruel and treating her as if she was nothing. Backing up when she saw him starting to move towards her, Stella started to panic. Her eyes began to scan every part of her room for something she could grab or if she could make some sort of escape. She was stupid to have riled him up this way while she had no escape plan. How could she have forgotten that? Did she really trust Reed so much that she thought he would never hurt her even when he was high and not in control of himself? “Please,” she begged him, feeling her eyes starting to sting but Stella was still Stella and out of pride, she refused to let them fall. She stood taller, taking everything he was throwing at her and although her body trembled, Stella refused to let him see how scared she was of him. She turned her head to the side when she felt his anger as he stood closer to her, feeling some of his spit falling on her cheek. “Th-That’s not what I’m saying,” she tried to argue. The way he described the feel of being high stirred something in her and it took everything to push it down. Yes, she did miss it more than anything. At this point, Stella didn’t care that he was using, she only cared that she wasn’t around him.
She could feel the anger radiating off him, making Stella even more scared but also angry at the same time. Jumping a little when he then punched a hole in her wall, Stella knew that there was a big chance he was going to get physical with her. She knew he had a temper and Stella was not about to let herself become a victim. No, she was stronger than that and she was going to seriously hurt him if she had to. Balling her hands into fists, Stella punched his gut with all her might, pushing him when he was doubled over as she ran towards her bedroom door. Making a mistake and seeing the blood on the floor from when he punched a hole in her wall, Stella felt her stomach start to churn. Quickly calling 911, she let them know the situation before hanging up and calling her brother. “Steven?” she called, her voice trembling as she continued to cry. “Steven, please help me. R-Reed’s high.” She could hear her brother’s voice getting louder and louder, reassuring her that she was going to be fine and she needed to get out of the apartment. Doing as she was told, she started to open the locks but forgetting the second lock, the door only opening just a little bit before the chain stopped it from opening it completely. Stella could hear Reed’s footsteps, scaring her even more. “Help me, please,” she begged, closing the door again and trying to open once more.
Reed’s been in black out rages before when he was high or drunk or especially high. A black out rage where his mind went blank and he felt like he wasn’t even there. This rage that he was feeling with Stella was different. It wasn’t a black out. He was very much present and he was very much angry. It almost felt like Stella was out to make him angry, from what she was doing to what she was saying. It only fueled his rage. At this point, he didn’t register Stella as his girlfriend, but rather the reason for this sudden anger. His face felt red, his eyes were red, and all he could see was red. Reed was so focused on this that he didn’t even care for the pain or the inevitable stitches he’d need on his hand after the brutal impact against the wall. None of that mattered. All he could focus on was this need to teach Stella some sort of lesson for crossing the line. He was lifting his injured hand up, his breathing so thick and heavy that it was making the strands of her hair move. Honestly, not even Reed knew what he was capable of doing next, but it was probably for the best that she was able to aim a hit towards him. The surprise and impact of it made him stumble back, his mind working too slow to register that Stella was getting away.
Coming up from behind her, he grabbed the phone out of her hands and tossed it. All that could be heard was the thud that it did against the wall, without a doubt shattering at least the screen and making some kind of mark on her paint. Quickly, he slammed his hand on the door, putting all his strength on it so there was no possible way she could open it. His strength against hers, there was no doubt she couldn’t over take him. Reed grabbed Stella’s arm and turned her around, making sure she was looking at him. “You should have just stayed in your fucking place, Stella. You should have just continued to ignore it,” he told her, his voice menacing. “Why did you go and decide to finally be fucking smart about it, huh? You’ve been doing a good job acting stupid. You should have continued it. Now look what you’ve done.” He leaned his head closer towards her face. At this point, he had let go of her arm, not caring if she’d run away or not. He wasn’t planning on staying for much longer. He needed another hit and he needed it now. This was a terrible way to end his high and Reed was particular about that kind of thing. He never liked his high getting ruined. “You’ve ruined it, Stella. This is on you.” Clenching his jaw, he pushed her away, making his way to exit.
