Still trying to come to terms with the fact Iâll never be a librarian who can speak a dead language and be recruited by a ruggish but handsome explorer for a quest to lift the curse and save the world
because of the pandemic travel restrictions?
of ALL THINGS to be talking publicly about at this moment in history shes still on this
Yâall, please, actually look into stuff before you take screenshots and get mad. The article they are referencing (and I truly have no idea why they suddenly felt the need to tweet this) was published in JANUARY, and the comments are in reference to a documentary made in 2018/2019. In other words, this NOT what Hilary Clinton feels the need to discuss publicly right now. She has instead been advocating for change and for people to vote, as well as criticizing Trumpâs current use of the military.
It also appears that the LA Times tweeted this in a thread of recycled content about Clinton but the precipitating issue was that they interviewed her about whether she thought the recent environment will lead to a free and fair election in November, which is absolutely on topic given recent authoritarian crackdown on the exercise of 1st amendment rights.
literally desaturate any frame from john m.ulaneyâs latest standup and it looks like itâs from a variety show in 1935
Iâm sorry but variety shoes did not exist in 1935. Or even 45
but the only thing the news will cover is the looting...
i love how they were also silent during the prayer. they knew to wait. itâs beautiful seeing people come together in this way. this is what unity looks likeâš
Happy pride month to closeted trans people who live with being misgendered and deadnamed on a daily basis. Youâre all so strong and brave I love you so fucking much.
Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. Itâs known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If youâre too close, youâll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.
Stay safe.
To the comments asking if this is real/can cause hearing loss. Not only is it real, but the NYPD lost a federal lawsuit in 2017 for using it on peaceful protestors, during the Black Lives Matter protests for Eric Garner in 2014, and caused them permanent damage. It was spotted again at protests this week.Â

please do not force an lgbt label onto anne frank. she died before she had the chance to explore her sexuality and if you need to think of her as lgbt to have empathy for her you need to reconsider how you think of holocaust victims. please do not vilify her father, a man who lost his entire family in the holocaust, for censoring the parts in anneâs diary where she expresses attraction for women. it was 1947. jewish girls were already seen as hypersexual. he was protecting her legacy as best he could, and you have no right to call him a villain for wanting what was period-typical best for his late daughter.
Non-Jews, please read and reblog.
the fact that âabolish the policeâ went from a fringe, radical stance that no one took seriously to a national talking point after just 7 days of protests is itself a massive victory. keep pushing.
No cops at Pride, just Elton John with his Gucci shirt and a knife
seeing a massive influx of antisemitism because of protests, reminder that people blaming George Soros for any actions taken by protestors, claiming George Soros is funding protests, namedropping the only jewish billionaire people know of over random shit that has nothing to do with him is completely and utterly antisemitic. Calling for damaging synagogues and jewish community centers because you associate jews with Israel is wildly antisemitic. Saying shit like âwhy is a jewish man running blmâ when that is completely inaccurate is antisemitic. If you see this behavior anywhere report it and call it out.
Goyim should 100% reblog this
Dear JK Rowling,
It seems you have an issue with an article with the headline, âOpinion: Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruateâ.
Iâm not sure why you would have an issue with using a phrase that would include transgender men, nonbinary folks, and intersex folks who all might menstruate (among others). It seems as if people tried to voice their concerns with how you referred to the headline and - from what I could gather - you were not receptive to that criticism.
Now there is rhetoric here I would like to address that is concerning to me, as a trans person. First, the defense of your opinion based on the fact that you have, âspent much of the last three years reading books, blogs, and scientific papers by trans people.â That is amazing that you took the time to educate yourself on the issue but you are still a white-cisgender-woman with an estimated net worth of £700 million to your name (according to an Evening Standard Insider article published on May 7th, 2020). That comes with a fair amount of privilege. Perhaps if transgender people are telling you there is something problematic with your response, it would be respectful to take a step back and listen. (Which, I would like to note, your, âSelf-described butch lesbian,â friend should consider doing as well. Unless I am making an incorrect assumption that sheâs not trans in which case I apologize.)
However, the thing youâve said which is most concerning so far is that those who use the phrase, âTERF,â are woman-haters. That hurts on a deep level because Trans-Exclusionary Radical âFeministsâ (and I put quotation marks around feminist as true feminism is not exclusionary) are some of the most bigoted people I have ever interacted with. They constantly misgender trans folks and claim their identity is invalid because of their birth-sex. I have been harassed recently by a number of these people and it hurts more because they are prejudiced in the name of feminism. To see the author of one of my favorite series defend these kinds of people breaks my heart.
Which brings me to the main point of yours I would like to address:
This is rhetoric commonly used by Trans-Exclusionary Radical âFeministsâ which I find concerning. Transgender people are aware that biological sex exists. However, we object to the idea that it is as important as the world has made it out to be. Gender is important, but gender is not exclusively related to sex. In most languages, the meanings for, âsex,â and, âgender,â are interchangeable which is where the issue comes from. âHomosexual,â is defined as, â(of a person) sexually attracted to people of oneâs own sex.â And yet we have cisgender gay men and lesbians attracted to transgender men and women. They are still gay because they are still attracted to the same gender, giving us a prime example of how, âgender,â and, âsex,â can be interchangeable in society. Even when we take sex at its textbook definition - âeither of the two main categories (male and female) into which humans and most other living things are divided on the basis of their reproductive functions.â - then people would decide how to treat other people only after they have confirmed that anatomy for themselves. I make no attempts to speak for your individual experience but, in general, I believe a personâs life is shaped less by their reproductive functions and more by their assumed gender.
You say that you, âknow and love trans people,â and that you, ârespect every trans personâs right to live,â but when you defend Trans-Exclusionary Radical âFeministsâ and wonât even take the time to listen to us when we say your words are hurtful you contradict yourself. I have no idea if you will see this and if you do I have no way of knowing if you will read it in full. But I hope you do and that once you have you take the time to consider your words and opinions carefully.
Sincerely, A Transgender Hufflepuff
