It's quite romantic if you really think about it. You "desert" your kind to stand by someone, working with/for them for roughly 20 years. Interacting with them on a closeness level unheard of since ancient times. Providing them with every resource they could ask for, talking them up to your superiors to further your shared agenda in conspiring against them. Being their personal bodyguard and guide across the other side of the veil. Very interesting. Much to think about.
