Development of Test Shoot
Following on from the Test Shoot I had I edited some of the clips in the way I would want them to look. The clip of the sky helped create some nostalgia. I slowed the clip down on Adobe Premiere Pro.
Now I have actually played around with the test shots I am excited to join them in with the VHS recordings and create a story.
The clip of the sky reminded me of some of the stuff my Grandmother would do first thing in the morning at 6am which is bathe and listen to religious hymns that is something I wish to incorporate.
Development work of an example of future short film.
Artist Work:

“An artist known as Steelberg turns contemporary films and televisions show into nostalgic relics of pop culture.”
From my childhood I have fond memories of watching VCR videos through our video player and they would always remind me of my Grandmother.
For installation purposes I would incorporate a shelf where I could fit in the VCR’s cases.
Pilot Project
My pilot project began from VCR’s home videos. (They are still being transferred to DVD) but from what I have through camera recordings.
I noticed a alter in her behaviour all through 2013 where innovation got to be more progress. I have picked out distinctive parts of diverse video’s on VHR and arrange and piece them together to make my possess story and depict my relationship. I have not utilized anything other than a digital camera for shooting so to alter to film for my major venture required getting used to. The reason for time-stamped videos was to show the degree of how profound the relationship got to be and where it advanced. The principal concepts that will drive the major amplify are the thought of the record – in terms of the changing and presentation – and memories, in terms of the substance.
From here onwards I intend to piece together a story.

The video from 2005 helped visualise the difference I wanted to capture between my Grandmother’s life.Throughout the editing process I will have had these clips cut down and maybe following on from each other. However do need to wait for the DVD’s to arrive so I can build a story. These following clips are some of the movements of my Grandmother in the place she lives now, a care home. The decision of putting her in a care home was a great challenge for our family as we lived with her all our life. This is also something I intend to share whether in the story line in the voice over or in a video format.

Test Shoot with Still Life Photography
Through my development process, I took some still shots to see whether it may have been somewhere I wanted to focus on. It was not, unfortunately, but it did help with the idea of what I was going to film.
Even though most of the footage is going to be from VHS converted to DVD I still do want to use some digital footage towards the end of the short film.

The Idea.
One of my Grandmother’s son’s had a old video camera from at least 20 years ago, he is filming at his sister’s police parade as she has just passed. This was the first daughter to achieve something so huge in my Grandmother’s family and it is something I am going to talk about throughout my short film.

The Idea.
This is 1 of 3 of the clips I intend to work on in my short film. This is a video of my grandma from 2005 with my first cousin. The audio is muted for purposes of a voice over that still needs to be written. This is where my pilot project starts, showing a journey of life and death, I will begin with these home videos, embracing the journey of my grandma and how she became weaker through the years.
Artist Work: Tracey Emin -

Why I Never Became a Dancer (1995)
A single-screen projection with sound, shot on Super 8. Duration: 6 minutes, 40 seconds.
The film portrays the artist's early adolescence in Margate, where she grew up. The film begins with the title written on a wall and then features a montage of views which are significant to Emin's past, including her school, the seaside and shops. The artist's voice narrates her story, opening with, "I never liked school / I was always late / In fact, I hated it / So at thirteen I left." The video's final scenes show Emin's involvement in a local disco-dancing competition, in an attempt to escape to London to take part in the British Disco Dance Championship 1978. The last two minutes of the film consist of Emin dancing exuberantly around a studio.
Tracey Emin’s work is a huge deal to my Major Project as she reflects on life choices she has made that has brought her to where she is today. That is something I intend to focus on in my film, noting the small and big decisions that defined my Grandmother’s life.
Major Project Initial Ideas
I was interested in exploring the social media influence in the generation today. I have always told a story in most of my film work, and I am not ready to shy away from that yet. My area of interest still revolves around the idea of bringing awareness to Mental Health situations and attempting to portray real-life situations into my own work. Currently, the present issues are the use of social media, popularity on social media and celebrities.
When I begin a project I always have in the back of my mind it is for publishing and to create a strong awareness of taboo subjects. Things we don't talk about. My pieces have always been inspired by real-life stories.
The genre I intend to direct my film it is in a documentary style. In today’s day, the growth of youtube has increased. It’s usually the first thing I think about when I mention my short films being filmed as a documentary.
‘Vlogs’ according to the English Dictionary means ‘a blog in which the postings are primarily in video form.’ Whereas my work would be for awareness and creating something that needs to be spoken about.
Initial Idea.
‘Late 60s Early 70s Family Beach Holiday’ Published, Kinolibrary Archive Film collections, Youtube, 2017
‘Super 8 Footage of Mom and Family’ Footage from 1960-1963. Published, Youtube, 2013.
Examples of the way I intend my shots/clips to look.
