What if... I came back...
//Friendly reminder Christmas is not accepted in Drac’s house for obvious reasons. Carry on.
//So I’ve been thinking about Satanic Rites, and that part where Van Helsing pulls out a gun on Drac and Drac’s just ‘that can’t hurt me lol’ and Van Helsing’s just ‘but the bullet’s silver!’
Van Helsing... he’s a vampire, not a werewolf.......
//I was randomly looking up stuff in the middle of the night and stumbled upon some Quotes from the Bib.le(TM) and thought about Drac (of course), and had thoughts but I’m unable to properly articulate my thoughts but I’m going to try anyway. I realized there’s a whole thing about (if my memory serves me well) both Old Test.ament G.o.d and Drac being basically petty beings with Rules and Do What I Tell You To Do Or I Will Smite You complexes and the only difference between the two larger than life, super.natur.al-ish beings would be their motives (G.o.d offered “good,” “wise” things for the comparably “naive” humanity and Drac is selfish, a liar who offers things that you want but not things you need or that would benefit you in the long run; he is a predator who preys on naive humans instead of truly trying to benefit them like he initially offers). The ultimate difference would be that G.o.d allowed humans to have a Choice and Drac does not; Drac will Smite You in the end either way, whether you do what he tells you to do or not.
Plus the entire thing about Lu.ci.fer being forcibly tossed out of hea.ven and ripped of his an.gel status by G.o.d, who allows everyone to have a choice (and lets them have their consequences as well), while Drac chose to become what he is (essentially “falling” much the same in his journey to become basically the darkest, most evil being on the planet), and literally forces others to join him in that state (mostly by forcing himself on them and biting them; there are cu.lts who wor.ship him and women who want him to bite them, yes, but you can’t tell me they’d be doing it if they weren’t under his influence).
Plus, the whole mocking of perfection Drac and the other vamps do in their... vamp... ness... Essentially, mimicking the per.fection of the angels in their eternal youth and beauty, but mocking them and G.o.d H.imself in that Drac and other vamp.ires mock the idea of that perfection and beauty by being pale, cold, and essentially animated corpses, and are truly deathless. Vampires cannot truly die, they mock the very idea of being physically (and perhaps spir.it.ually) alive itself as well as the idea of comm.un.ion by drinking blood (life) and literally rising from the grave every night (again, essentially corpses, but not quite; also, their souls refuse to “move on” after their death/transformation into a vamp.ire and go to heav.en or h.ell, also mocking G.o.d in that way), and, like Lu.cif.er, rebelling against G.o.d and (Drac) thinking quite highly of himself.
//I think one of, if not the most, terrifying aspects of Drac’s powers is the fact that he can control people mentally. It isn’t his super strength or his teeth that are the worst part of him (not that they should be in any way shirked off as not dangerous), but the fact that he can attack you in your most vulnerable of places with overwhelming force and 9.99 times out of ten control you without so much as having to lift a single finger. And unless you’re as stubborn as Van Helsing, there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.
//Drac’s one (1) (possibly?) redeeming quality: he mentally controlled Alice into killing her abusive and alcoholic dad.
//Concept: the reason Drac wanted to spread the plague at the end of Satanic Rites and kill everyone (and effectively commit suicide) mirrored Chris’ wish to stop playing Drac; they both wanted it to end. But because (obviously) Drac’s mission didn’t work, he could theoretically come back at any time, especially since that movie proved there were worshippers of Drac’s that were more than willing to bring him back. You can’t ever truly kill him, only incapacitate him for a time.
Dracula keeps only silver backed mirrors in his castle because he knows the new ones have his reflection, so he makes sure they aren't anywhere near him. Gotta be scary. Gotta
okay lets play a game: instead of y’all asking me headcanon questions, send me your headcanons for my muse. ( bonus: if i really like it i may make it an official headcanon )
//Actually, yes! I don’t think he’d have ever gotten his mirrors updated to go on with the times, so he’d never have experienced silver backed mirrors in the first place until the 70s in London. (Yes, he keeps up with the times in a fashionable sense, but not in that way. He’s kept everything he’s owned over the years, so basically everything’s antique). I think it’s a funny image, to think of him seeing himself for the first time since he was human and being so shocked he stops and stares at himself. But I also think he’d instinctively know the image was himself, so there’d be no shock at all.

in that wilhuffs-mood photo post Christopher Lee is like: i hate this. i hate this place, i hate these movies, i hate the director, i hate this job, everything is terrible. but Peter Cushing is like: mm, idk, it’s not so bad, they got muffins over there for us, the ~actors~, and they’re free and that’s nice. they got apple cinnamon and chocolate chip and double chocolatey chip—yes, double chocolatey chip is too rich sometimes but still, it’s nice they gave us options.
//Imagine Peter trying to comfort Chris and the world will be a better place.
You heard it here first, folks, grumpy Chris and friend Peter. With muffins.
girlthursday:
when the studio guilts u into doing eight Dracula films by telling u if u quit the crew will be out of a job and it’ll be your fault
//Things I got from the most recent viewing of the first movie:
vampires are cold to the touch
drac would’ve probably been chill with harker for some time (assuming he really did need someone to take care of his library; what a convenient plot point to allow harker into his home)
drac is (still) extremely petty
//Upon rewatching the first few scenes of the movie again, I noticed something. It’s literally Harker’s first day/night there when he is attacked by Dracula’s bride. Drac comes in and saves him, but he does so in an animalistic way, tearing the bride from Harker. Harker already arrived knowing Drac was a vamp (contrary to other interpretations), but I’m not sure that Drac would know that.
With that said, Drac seemed to have no qualms basically outing himself to Harker as a vamp. Then again, he might have considered it a moot point since the bride had just tried to bite Harker. Or, he could have still been in hunting mode, and attacked her in the aggressive manner attributed to that state (but somehow was still of a mind enough not to attack Harker).
Dracula considered Harker a business connection at most, a human coming in to take care of his library. He seemed to have no qualms about outing his vamp status to him on literally the first day of meeting, perhaps not hours after meeting each other. I don’t get it. Did he think Harker wouldn’t care? Or would he keep him there by force? Try to convert him? I don’t know.
In addition, Harker questions the bride when she told him that Drac was basically keeping her there by force. Wouldn’t Harker put two and two together and think that Drac, being a vamp, was forcing her to stay, instead of doubting her? Or was he not making the connection? Or was it that Harker knew that he knew that Drac was a vamp, but didn’t know if the woman knew he was a vamp? In that case, wouldn’t it be better to tell her? I’d be concerned if someone came up to me and said the person who I knew was a vampire was keeping them hostage. Harker doesn’t seem to either believe her or make the connection.
//Alright, movie time. I’m going to be showing Ho.rror of Dracula here in a few minutes. Everybody’s free to join.
