           NOMAJ. an open letter to the shadowhunters writers: giving magnus the ‘ funny lines ’ that make it clear he doesn’t respect alec’s personal space or feelings is not only hugely disrespectful to alec, but to magnus’s character. he respects alec, and respects how alec feels about anything pertaining to his sexuality. he knows that the shadowhunter community is notoriously intolerant, and he sees, in later books, how much it affects alec. he would never, ever, make light of it, or push himself on alec repeatedly just because he’s, i don’t know, lustful or whatever. magnus’s most important scene in regards to this, before alec kisses him at the clave meeting in idris ( not the fakeass bullshit wedding that never should have happened because alec should normally have a spine ), is in ‘ city of ashes ’. magnus literally knocks alec out before he can tell his parents that he’s seeing magnus. because alec is under the influence of the no fear rune and it’s very obvious he’s not in his right mind. because when it wears off alec is terrified that he said something he didn’t want to, and magnus covers for him again. because magnus knows he doesn’t want to tell his parents, and however he might feel about the situation, he would never let alec do something that makes him uncomfortable or puts him in a position he’s not prepared to be in yet. because alec is just discovering who he is or how he feels about himself and magnus wants to support him without judgment, the way he’s always done throughout their relationship. magnus knows what alec’s boundaries are, what he’s comfortable with and what he’s not, and giving him these pseudo flirty/funny, almost predatory lines is not cute, or shippy. it’s gross, and if you insist on giving this show a second season, i demand that you actually attempt to portray this relationship realistically, because magnus bane is a wonderful character and i refuse to have him ruined by you fuckwits.
