a hand lifted to rub the back of his neck , joyful laughter dimming into nervousness as he shook his head , avoiding the samoan’s gaze. ❛ no !! of course not !! why would i do that ?! ❜ he definitely was. no one could resist laughing as they witness another person trip over something & fall , but for roman , he almost did , as he was too big & caught himself. still , it was funny. ❛ i just remembered a joke i heard earlier today ! i’m not laughing at you , i swear !! ❜

Roman wasn’t really angry — he wasn’t the type of guy to get flustered, but literally tripping ( seemingly over his own feet, as a glance back revealed nothing he could have tripped over ) was enough to metaphorically trip him up, at least momentarily. And maybe the laughter had sparked some irritation initially, but now, seeing how terribly Sami lied in a scramble to cover his own ass, it softened the edges into something mild. ❝ Has anyone told you that you’re an awful liar? ❞

It was a dangerous game to play, but Peter was fond of those kinds of games.

He didn’t get where he was because he concerned himself with insignificant people. So when he was approached backstage by someone he didn’t recognize, he curled his nose a little in distaste and glanced around as if searching for someone. ❝ Where’s security? Sami’s quiet for a long moment as he lets Roman’s words sink in. He’s never really thought of himself as particularly brave. Half the time he did things, it was because of some innate sense of right and wrong, his moral compass telling him to do what he had to in an effort to help those around him.

A smile spread across his face as Roman spoke and he shook his head. “I…thank you. I don’t know that I’m any more or less inherently good than anyone else. I think everyone has good in them. It’s whether they choose to act of not.”

Being alone gave Roman more freedom, allowed him to relax, because otherwise, when they were around people, Roman always had to be mindful of how much affection he showed Sami, how close they stood, how long touches lingered. Now he could press a kiss to his soulmate’s temple, where undoubtedly Sami could feel the smile Roman wore, and pull back only slightly; that full-body desire to just be close was almost overwhelming at times, and it felt like a weight was lifted, allowing himself to indulge in an intimate sort of proximity to Sami.

❝ I don’t know, Sami. Looking at you, sometimes I wonder how good I can really be, ❞ he admitted, quietly.
