While Kai continued looking up at the starlit sky, his mind slowly began to wonder for a bit, but as soon as the older blader heard Rei ask how he’s been since the last time they talked because it was a while since the last time they’ve had, he took his attention off the sky and now to the city lights beneath them, before telling the other.“I’ve been alright, done a bit of traveling the last couple months, to be honest, I just got back a week ago.” he replied than became quiet for few minutes before asking Rei about how he has been and what he’d been up to since the last time they talked.“ How about you, what have you been up to?” Kai finally asked then took a quick glance at the Chinese blader to see if he could see any change in him as well.

When Kai finishes, Rei is silent for awhile as he turns his own answer over in his head. “Well... I’ve been stuck back in my village. So, I haven’t done much but manage things back ho-- there.” No, he’s not sure he can call that place home anymore. He’s long since become disconnected from it. “This is the first time I’ve gotten to leave in a long time, so that’s why I showed up so early.” He flashes Kai a smile, pushing away any unnecessary thoughts.

“How was traveling? See anything interesting?” He changes the subject, hoping to keep the topic away from himself.

There go’s that smile of his again making her heart flutter as she tries to let her mind work through what he had actually told her. She didn’t regain focus until Luxord stood up and nudged her hand egging her on to keep petting him.

“Th-that sounds fair, I have a few places in town I enjoy, but most of my favorite spots are a bit of a hike.” Of course he could probably handle it given the mans profession. “A-are you up for something like that? Considering you just came into town and all.” Naturally she still has to ask as she tries to fight the blush that wants to come onto her face. 

Rei wills every urge to laugh away as he watches the girl struggle not to blush. Cute. He thinks, before finally nodding in response to her. “I don’t mind a hike. I’m used to that kind of thing, so just lead the way.” He gestures towards the door, waiting for her to take the first step.

Once she does, he follows after her before eventually matching her pace outside. “Your town looks nice, seems like people take care of it which you don’t always see in small places.”

“Yup nothing to worry about at all.” Well minus her own personal worries, but there wasn’t much she could do now. She had offered to show him around, and now she couldn’t take those words back that would be rude.

“And alright take your time.” She nods finishing her text and sending it before slipping Chromen into her pocket happy to lean against the counter as she waits for Rei to come back. Her hand lazily petting at the top of Luxord’s head so she could keep herself calm.

When he returns she gives him a bright smile. “Alright do you have any place you want to check out first?”

“Well... I want to check out the local restaurants, but it’s little early for dinner, so until then why don’t you show me some of your favorite places?” He suggests, giving her another smile and hoping that letting her pick where to go might make her feel more comfortable.

“I’ll treat you to dinner after as thanks for all your help, okay?” He figures that would be a decent trade, plus... he kind of felt like teasing this fangirl a bit. Not because he wanted to be mean, but just because it was fun to see people get flustered.

It was late evening as Kai slipped quietly out of the dojo that belonged to Takao and his grandfather, because the world champion and Daichi had managed to get in an argument all because the small red-haired blader had ate the last slice of pizza that was suppose to be for him, as the blader stepped onto the darkened night streets he thought about returning to his apartment, but then decided to go for a walk instead and see if he could find Rei because he knew the other had arrived in Japan a few days ago without telling the rest of the team besides himself and kyouju.

After walking around the city what seemed a few hours, Kai finally took notice of a familiar figure leaning against a rail, and before the blader could alert Rei that it was him, his ears picked up on the other asking in a questioning voice if it was him quietly approaching from behind.“Yeah, it’s me.” he replied showing his former teammate a quick smile even though the other couldn’t see it because his back was turned to him at the moment, after a few moments had passed Kai slowly walked to where Rei was and stood next to him and looked up at the night sky above them.

Rei remains silent for awhile, keeping his head buried in his arms, enjoying the serene silence between them. This is one thing he’s always appreciated about Kai. Unlike the other’s, Kai knew how to let peaceful silences stay peaceful much to the overwhelmed cat’s delight.

Eventually, he turns his head enough to look up at his friend. “How have you been? It’s been awhile since we last talked.” He looks the other boy up and down, searching for any difference he could find. I guess it hasn’t been so long that everything would have changed about him. A quiet hum as he closes his eyes again, listening carefully to what Kai has to say. It would be bad if he suddenly fell asleep on him after being the one to break the silence.

“Oh I would be more then happy to.” Sure Rima was a bit of a fangirl, but she did do her best to stay respectful. Minus the gawking and general nervousness of their interaction.

“Hmmm Nah they don’t normally mind when I take off. We have a house keeper and a chef that are normally more then happy to take over when I go out.” On those rare occasions that she does. “Plus we really aren’t that busy right now anyways, and technically I’m not an employee… My family owns this inn.” She explains this while pulling her phone out from the drawer to send a quick text to one of the other workers. “I help when I can. I have to take Luxord out for a walk anyways. He gets stir crazy if he’s inside for to long.” She motions to the dog who is happy to stand up. “Do you want ot get settled first before we take off?” 

“Well, then I guess there’s nothing to worry about.” He probably should’ve figured that she was just helping her family since most people her age likely wouldn’t be working in a place like this.

“I just want to set my bag down in my room and then we can go.” He gives her another smile, taking the key he’d need before heading off to his room. As he unlocks the door he wonders if Rima was ever going to bring up that she was a fan or if she’d just keep quiet about it the whole time. He’d have to give her props for the restraint, but unlike some people he doesn’t mind when fans talk to him most of the time.

Once his bag has been put away he heads back down to the front desk.

Rei looks up from his book when he feels a tap on his left shoulder. He had heard someone approaching him, but since they didn’t seem like a threat he hadn’t bothered looking. Now, he looks to the left to see nobody there only to here a stifled laugh from his right side. Oh.

He turns to see the small girl standing on his right. He laughs softly, “I guess you got me.”

When was the last time he’d seen his former teammates? It’s been at least a year, maybe more. Rei hasn’t exactly been the best with time since going back home again. His clan’s elders had been keeping him busy, so busy in fact he was fairly sure they we’re still holding a grudge for when he originally ran off with Driger.

With a sigh, Rei leans further forward onto the railing, watching the sky for a moment before burying his face in his arms. He was supposed to meet up with the others in a few days, but seeing as he wanted to get out of his village for awhile he lied about the dates and came early. It gave him some much needed rest time before he’d have to get into the whirlwinds that were Takao, Max, and Daichi. For now, only Kai and Kyouju were made aware of his early arrival.

Despite the awkward positions, Rei was ready to fall asleep right then and there until the faint sound of footsteps began to approach him. They’re much to quiet to be just anyone, so the cat hazards a guess without turning to look. “That you, Kai?”

“About... 0.87%?” Rei knows damn well Kai wasn’t looking for an answer, but the cat is going to give him one anyways. “It’s more than zero because, while I can tell that you really don’t care about checking out that fancy cafe, you’re probably still going to come because I’m asking you nicely and it gets you away from everyone else for a little while.”

“Uh...” One would think Rei would be used to the ridiculous questions Takao could come up with and yet he’s surprised every time. “Well, I’m not sure their brains would be big enough to comprehend that? Then again, humans are the ones that say pigeons are birds, so a pigeon might have a different idea.”
