“Don’t be silly. I wouldn’t have you buy it for me,” she told him plainly, not even realizing the images he had just pulled up.
“Ah, maybe you’re right…” she conceded, rubbing her chin. “I don’t want it to be too much, after all…” Though truth be told, it was a bit late for that given her current outfit.
“You’d look good in hats. Anything really. Best naked. I guess that’s what they call all-around good-looking though, right? Thoroughly good-looking~!”
“Silly? Is it so silly for a man to wish to buy the woman he’s…crazy about something she really wants?” he asked softly. “I get pleasure from something so simple.” He glanced back down at the alarming image and kept his face expressionless. He did not wish to offend her by being less than enthused by the hat she wanted. Maybe he was right….Relief shot through him. She wouldn’t be getting the cow hat. He found himself feeling far more territorial about her and didn’t appreciate the looks she received, even when he was at her side. The cow hat would draw even more attention to her…she would stand out like a beacon and she received far too much as it was. Then again, maybe people would be more apt to stare at the hat rather than every exposed, delectable inch. He - Her next words interrupted his thoughts on the matter and his cheek folds heated up…truth be told, he heated up. It was just more noticeable in the soft skin of his cheeks. “Best naked? I find that I’m okay with that,” he teased. Though, the thought of him in that hat made him shudder. “I implore that you do not ask me to wear this hat, no matter if you think I’d look good in it.” He stepped in behind her, put his arm around her and held it up, so that she could see the cowgirl hat displayed on his omni-tool. Unable to resist, he lowered his lips to her neck, his tongue flicked out to taste her. His other arm slipped around her waist and pulled her back up against his chest, momentarily forgetting the hat he was showing her, distracted by her scent and nearness.
Nik always had a way of making her feel special. He slipped it in casually, almost like he didn’t even have to think about it. It was perhaps the quality she liked best about him. Amelia never knew how badly she had been treated before until he was finally there to treat her right. Any lingering desire for the man who crushed her heart, any lingering doubts about never being able to find someone better than her suitor were put to rest. Nik was the answer.
And he was silly! She wasn’t sure what he had been thinking, but no matter how cooly she slipped in a little flirtatious, slightly sexual comment, he picked up on it. “You’re a dog!” she accused with a laugh as he came up behind her, obviously trying to show her what he was seeing to explain his objection, but unable to resist pulling her to him and kissing her neck. “Mm...Make a mark...” she urged, closing her eyes before glancing at the omni-tool.
She wasn’t sure whether to choke or to laugh, so she did both. “What?!” That was the ugliest hat ever. “No, no! I’ll find an example, but I’d never wear this! Like...a ten gallon hat! Oh, that’ll never come out right...I’ll find an example!” she promised. Not once during her conversation about the hat did she pull away or turn to face him. How could she? This felt far too nice. “You...You’d look good in like a 1940′s style human hat. With a suit. Like some fine gentleman, all classic and sweet.”
