huey's strict adherence to principles is generally what isolates him from other characters. in the television series, he's rarely seen talking to other kids outside of riley and jazmine, while in contrast, riley has huey, jazmine, and cindy on a general retainer with a consistent dynamic, is capable of networking within a small business, joins sports teams, and is capable of having episodes that focus on his friendships with other characters.
to be fair: this might just be a side effect of the way that riley's whims can change from episode to episode to suit the needs of the story that you can just as easily character in-universe as trend-chasing.

I honestly don't think granddad is the kind of person who actually wanted to BE a parent to begin with, or at least not do it over again, but kind of wants the respect and praise of doing so enough to be mildly inconvenienced on a daily basis.
he clearly instilled some sort of activist values into his kid for his grandson to be named after huey p. newton of the black panther party, you know?
(it's also clear that he's the kind of guardian to huey and riley who generally believes that his duties as a parental figure kind of end with providing for his children and physical discipline for disobedience.)
full disclosure, I also thinks that he loves them very much! but i also don't think he's that interested in their lives if they aren't in his vicinity.
also, foreboding news to fan artists drawing older versions of huey and riley that the grandad face structure gene might be stronger than we truly know.
controverisally; his pupils make me feel compassionate.
