MY-AMI 2
Our DESIGN INTO MIAMI event is tomorrow! And Miami Design week is fast approaching. In celebration of Miami Architecture & Design, we'll be posting pics of Miami through the eyes of award winning photographer, Paul Clemence. Here's the first of many. Stay tuned!
It's coming.
IDS12's Conversations in Design. This year's theme is "Trailblazers & Trendspotters" with some notable speakers including Piero Lissoni & Kenneth Montague.
We're the presenting sponsors, and as such, we'll be hosting a killer party. You'll want to be there. But you'll have to register!
Submit!
We're excited to see what you come up with.
We had so much fun goofing around coming up with a Halloween greeting, especially when we decided to take movie posters and "Relative Spacerize" them, that we figured perhaps you'd have fun Relative Spacerizing things too.
So we've decided to host a fun holiday competition! Relative Spacerize a holiday movie poster and post your masterpiece on our Facebook page for your chance to win a prize from RSTOO. The winning submission will be used as our holiday greeting to all of our mailing list subscribers and social media followers.
DEADLINE: DEC 1
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
"Double Happiness" by Didier Faustino is a double swingset installed on a NYC billboard.
Brilliant & playful. I know where my next excursion will be.
Juergen Mayer H's limited edition book, WirrWarr, is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago.
It's also on display in our Toronto showroom, just saying...
Perhaps you should come visit and see what all the rage is about.
The inside of an envelope has never looked so good.
Here's a promo video our good friend, Mikkel Zall, made for us showcasing the types of lifestyles Relative Space fosters.
The new installation in our window gallery, entitled "Disencage" is courtesy of Aileen Cheung, a recent graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design.
Words from the artist:
"Disencage" is a sequence of solid and free flowing shapes that descend diagonally across the space. The first is a sequence of progressively rotated images of picture frames printed onto vinyl. The second forms are acrylic painted plexi-glass blobs that are layered over the picture frames. The two contrasting types of forms collapse architectural planes into a playful framework. This installation sets up an exchange. The gallery frames the work; meanwhile the work frames the store as an imaginative space.
The gentlemen of Relative Space are making headlines.

The new parquet. Wood cladding for your floors, walls or cars.
We were honored to host, alongside IIDEX, the Canadian Launch of Architizer.com at our Toronto showroom.
As the party was Canadian themed, we did our best to source as many Canadiana elements as possible:
/ Charles Pachter Gallery / Taffy pull station by the lovely people of Ninutik / Food sculptures by Raw Design & Superkul out of Canadiana snacks provided by Ninutik & Dufflet pastries. / Beer, courtesy of our friends at Steam Whistle
The party also featured a photobooth station by Light&Hevvy, music provided by Phantom Signal, quirky named cocktails and a lot of big smiles.
See more photos here.
A big warm thank you to all who came out & all who contributed. A big Canadian-grizzly-bear-hug to our new friends at Architizer, we were happy to have you and hope to do it all again soon!
Last week was the International Interior Design Expo and we had a great time.
Our booth consisted of: / Fuse, our engineered wood flooring (in the form of towers) / Vorwerk's SCALE, textile-backed carpet tiles / Lama, felt-stripped carpeting&cladding (cladding some of the towers) / A brand spankin' new sign by Ian Milne
It's insane to stop and think about how much time & manpower is required to set up a decent looking trade show booth for a mere couple of days. Luckily, the good people at IIDEX made it completely worth our while. A huge thanks to everyone that stopped by. And a huge thanks to our friends at the Uncarved Block, as well as everyone else who contributed to the success of our booth.

This incredible live/work loft space designed by current owner & the Martin Building Company will make a lucky SanFran dweller very happy.
There were too many pictures to choose from, so take a gander in awe over here.
