This is called The Pinterest Bump : From nowhere, unfound, non-existent in the Google SERP s to page 1, with just a couple of pins. Couldn t be easier. I ll take it, every time. Pinterest is a valuable tool for SEO, when done correctly. Here s another keyphrase that went from position 18 to position 11: I originally discovered The Pinterest Bump in 2012 and made a video about it. Here s what was discovered back then: In mid-march, I wrote a blog post and pinned the image associated with it a pair of shoe s I d seen in the Nordstrom catalog. The shoes went somewhat viral on Pinterest and accumulated a couple hundred pins. That was awesome and brought in some extra traffic. But Google caught wind of this, and actually ranked my image in position #1 in Google Image search for the designer s name. Finding the best time of day to post to Facebook is a mix of analyzing the data, testing and tracking and regular revision. ANALYZE THE DATA Facebook, handily, actually tells you when your fans are online the most. It would make sense that the times your fans are online are a great starting point for when to actually post to your account. You ll get more response when people are actually online and seeing your content, right? Navigate to Facebook Insights, then Posts and finally, When Your Fans Are Online. Survey respondents expect to increase spending in social media marketing as well. What s odd is that, despite participating in and even planning to increase participation and spending on social media, 52% of respondents agree with the statement: It is difficult to prove ROI for social media marketing. I love the Digg Digg plugin from the fine folks at Buffer. But it s had some problems with the Pinterest button overlapping or crowding the other buttons in the floating bar. Pinterest is integral to the strategy on this and my niche sites, so simply removing that button from the plugin wouldn t do the trick. We ve waited for an update, but alas, none has come, so today we set out to find the solution. My last post was about WHY you need to work less. Easier said than done, eh? In this follow up, it s all about HOW to work less. It s simple. Here goes: Refuse to do work your team could do. Quit fucking around when you re at the PC; be intentional with your time. Make processes and then disappear, giving your people the time and space to figure things out. Explain to your team WHY you do things the way you do them it ll help them make better decisions. Don t second guess your people when they ve done their best. Don t get in debates and arguments on the internet. Don t attach emotion to your work (i.e. get mad that Facebook declined your ad). Just go have new one (ad, product, blog post, opt-in, etc.) made. Better yet be so detached from they day-to-day operations that you don t even know the ad was declined! Have filters in place that protect you from the information you don t need to know.
