Talking To The Sun

As the sun slides down below the horizon I run outside and climb to the rooftop Risking everything just to send you A few words (Yet so many)

Dragging my tired body over the edge To stand on the loose tiles as they shift beneath my feet. I might fall and die, but I don’t care, because this Is more important (You’re more important)

So I speak to you now, my best friend, my love, my sun. Please don’t disappear down below the horizon Where I can’t see you and you can’t see me Please stop running (Please come back)

I speak in a quiet voice Because no matter the distance I know you’ll hear me You’ll hear my voice shaking as words roll off of my tongue Making them true (From the heart)

Please come back and Illuminate my days, my life As I, your moon, Illuminate your nights and darkest thoughts I know that winter is coming, but please don’t hide away until spring comes round (Break this cycle)

I remember last year, that week in the fall The week with no sun and your week without a moon So much hurt and darkness that no one should ever Feel that way (We’re past that)

For so long we’ve been waiting for the day That the sun and the moon would finally meet in the sky Finally becoming one, like that day so long ago and now We’re so close (Hang in there)

As tears start falling from my face my legs gives in So I sit down, pulling my legs up to my chest Wrapping my arms around them and utter one last sentence “I need you” (You’re my everything)
