tongue I was tagged by @firesdontapologise. Thank you for asking and here are my answers!
When did you start to write poetry?
I wrote my first piece of poetry when I was around 16 years old.
I was in a band back then and I was helping our lead vocalist with lyrics from time to time, so one day some words in my head just got together and I wrote my first piece of poetry. Between 16 and 18 years old, I probably only wrote 2-3 pieces in all. At 18 years old I wrote my first long piece of poetry about something from my past and that set something in motion and created my initial writing style. At 20 years old I started writing on a regular basis and I was recommended that I share it, so I made this blog with the intention of helping people and making them feel like they are not alone and that has definitely been as success.
Do you write poetic prose, free verse or use set forms?
I primarily use free verse, but I do usually have my own flow in my poetry that I try to follow.
Name 3 main themes you explore in your poetry:
Love, depression, Support
Name 3 things which get you inspired:
Name 3 elements of nature most often mentioned in your poetry:
The one I’ve used the most have definitely been fire.
Fire can be seen as something lighting your way and keeping your warm, but it can also be seen as something that burns and destroys and thus, it can be used in many contexts.
After that, the element I’ve used the most is water/the ocean.
I’ve mostly used it as a danger element in my poetry, like a risk that must be overcome. But a good example of it is the poem “Oceans don’t move” that I actually wrote for @firesdontapologise a good while back.
The third element I’ve used the most is wind. The wind can symbolize many things but when I think of wind, my old poem “winds of change” always come to mind.
Tongue(s): A word that I often use when describing either a language or something that is hard to understand. An example could be from a piece I wrote in 2016 while speaking of love “ It's a language universal, yet I speak not is tongue.” basically meaning that at that point in time I don’t know what it’d really mean to love someone.
Ever-changing: To constantly change or develop. A word I often use when talking to my friends on a more serious note, be it about the state of the world or about our own personal lives.
Forgiveness: described as the process of forgiving or being forgiven.
A word that I’ve always lived by. Always trying to forgive and give people another chance where its reasonable (and sometimes where its not)
Always remember there’s a stark difference in forgiving and forgetting.
Regret, Noice (You know who you are), Racism.
Do you have a certain ritual which puts you in the right frame of mind for writing and what is it?:
It can be many things. A good one is listening to the thunder and the rain falling on my roof. Other times it can be listening to music and sometimes it just comes to me when I’m cruising around in my car.
Add one question of your own: What do you do when you feel alone?
