Spring is my favorite season. Don’t get me wrong, I like them all, but the newness of Spring makes me smile.
The first glimpse of the Redbud trees puts a smile in my heart and on my lips. When we travel and see the woods full of Dogwoods and Redbuds and other blooming trees, I am reminded of the unfathomable creativity of God.
At a time in our history when anger and self-centeredness is at an all time high, we need to take a breath and look at God’s beauty on display. Enjoy it.
Sit on the porch swing and relax a bit. Take a moment to reflect on the beauty around you and let God speak to your heart. It will uplift you like nothing else.
One of the best gifts God gives us is the promise that we are blessed when our generations continue on through our children and grandchildren. These are my blessings.
He provides Himself, the Lamb. He provides Himself for all our needs. He is enough.#illustratingbible https://www.instagram.com/p/BvzmnzABzJwnKWkLM2MwhGUrcTzOhDrOZF_JXg0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=129vl0q1r3fxm
What a privilege to travel to Guatemala City for Global NMI meetings and worship with our fellow Nazarene believers, eat delicious food, drink coffee and do NMI business. https://www.instagram.com/p/BtRsQybh4KmwY_EN3BbzkqBrCMSjw-DsxxHQGM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tnqbqw0gyyqn
God has opened so many wonderful opportunities for me that I never thought would happen to me!
Like the many layers of color in the rose, there are many layers to each one of us. God wants to expose each layer to His glory and for the benefit of the World. Every shade is important to the overall completion of His plan. And like the rose, we each have a beauty that competes with no one else! It is ours alone, from God, so that we share our beauty with others and draw them to Jesus.
"Behold I make all things New"
-
Does anyone else out there feel like life is often too busy! Sometimes I feel like I get myself so wrapped up in all the things I have to do that when I actually have some "down time" to do the things I enjoy I'm to worn out! On those occasions I find myself being a couch potato instead of getting up and going to my craft room and working on a project that I think about doing when "I have time"! I realize some of this is my fault - after all, it is my responsibility to say NO, but there are times when the schedule of events is something I cannot change because my jobs over lap. I long for days when I can enjoy being home! I love my home, and I am a "homebody" who really likes a low-key schedule with lots of time to think and process. So, on days when I am trying to do two jobs at once and piano lessons on top of it all and there has been no "quality" prayer time and Bible time, I feel stressed and overloaded! The stress usually finds itself lodged between my shoulder blades causing me slight pain and constant reminding that "you have said YES too many times." I don't like it when I'm at this point and the question arises, "Are you doing what you were created to do? Are you passionate about what you do?" These questions cause me more stress because my answer would tend to be, "Are you kidding? What about this is fun? Passion? Well, the stress is overtaking any passion I might have felt." Most of my life I really just wanted to be a stay-at-home Mom and wife, but the finances would not allow it. Plus, I have often wondered if God has me working so that I will not become a hermit. I have no answers for myself except to remind myself that each phase of life is only for a season. Soon my kids will all be out of college and I will face yet another season. In just a few short years, I will be retirement age, and believe me, I can't even wrap my mind around that concept. I can't possibly be that old already. So, I will take each day as it comes and enjoy it. I will choose to abide in Jesus and rest in the knowledge that He is in control and He loves me. He wants what is best for me and I need to remember to seek His wisdom before I make any more decisions!
Run, really?
For the last 3 years our church has sponsored a 5-K run called "Run for Water". It started as a way to raise money for digging water wells in Burma for a church mission project, and we have continued the "run" with the proceeds going the the annual "children/teen" mission project.
Please understand, I am NOT a runner. I have never been a runner and it is clear that I will never be a runner. My knees won't take it any longer, but I never had a stride when running. It was more like lumbering along! However, on this particular day, I got in line for the start of the run (walk for those who don't run), and found myself right in the middle of the runners! Well, what's a girl to do? I couldn't mess up those who were ready to run, so I started off running and as soon as the "real" runners got around me, I began walking. I walked fast - as fast as I could for the entire 5K! I paid for it too! :) My feet hurt for days (more than a week). I can just not walk and not cringe when my heel hits the ground.
I'm glad I gave it my best. Glad I participated, and so very glad that I don't have to do it for another year!
This is me crossing the finish line! Below is me, my son and his girlfriend and my husband! My son came in second - first in his age division.
Just moments before the wedding started - prayer, the most basic foundation to every great marriage and friendship and life!
The beautiful Bride and the Happy Couple.
Here are two of the Photos from the wedding of Cinderella and Prince Charming! I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures.
I kind of like the one where "dad's" back is in focus and the couple are slightly blurred!
The Happy Couple
This photo was taken at Nazarene Mission International convention on our District. This was just after we finished for the day! He is my biggest "cheerleader", my most 'ardent' supporter, my faithful husband! I had no idea when I joined him on the journey 28 years ago where life would lead, but it has been a fantastic journey! I can't wait to see what else the next years bring.
Wedding day
This picture is Cinderella and prince Charming! Can't wait to add the Wedding day photo of them! It was a wonderful wedding day . . .just a little hot! 96 degrees by 10:30 is slightly warm, especially when you are all dressed up and trying not to sweat!
"Cinderella" always loved the camera! The camera was kind to her in return. So many times I look at her and her siblings and wonder just how I could be their mother - after all, they are all very "beautiful/handsome" and I don't feel that I fit that profile. How God can take two very imperfect people and for such wonderful creations is beyond my capability of thinking! And yet, there are familiarities, similarities, moments of seeing oneself in them . . .miraculous!
I remember thinking on my wedding day, "This is my one chance to live the fairy tale and be 'Cinderella' for a day. I am going to enjoy every bit of it." And I did. Every photograph, every guest, every small detail, a remembrance of the beginning of shared life. And now, 28 years later, I am beginning to get to live the moments of my own children planning their "Cinderella" moment. How very blessed I am.
Cinderella and Prince Charming were the hit of a Father/daughter evening. I received the Photo via cell phone and thought it was a beautiful idea. The little girls were enthralled with Cinderella and had a wonderful evening with their Dad's. I have a feeling that most all little girls would love to have a 'date' night with Dad and have his full attention! How would differently would some of their lives be if their Dad would take the time to show them how a gentleman treats them. Maybe they would slow down in their search for a "man to hang on to", and maybe they would keep their innocence a little longer if they knew they were cherished and worth waiting for!!!
Iced Coffee
I just found a wonderful sounding iced coffee recipe on The Pioneer Woman blog. I can't wait to try it! But first, I will have to figure out how to downsize the recipe! It would have went wonderful with the lunch my hubby and I just had! Grilled chicken breast and grilled pork chops with sweet potato fries!
All in all it has been a great day so far! First I woke up and went for a walk with my Man and then took a shower. Next came Bible reading time and watching Joyce Meyer on the TV. Then, I went and has a massage! WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL. After that, it was off to the tanning bed (we're going canoeing and I don't want to burn to a crisp). That's when I decided to barbecue for lunch, so I went to the grocery store and headed home!
This after noon I am going to make jewelry for my oldest daughters wedding. Maybe I'll take a nap! Hey, I'm on vacation!
