My name is Kára (she/her, adult).
This is my spiritual side blog. I mainly post about my own personal practice, cosmology, mythology, and systems, as well as anything magick/witchcraft related. [More info about my personal practice and my blog below]
I have been involved in witchcraft, spirit work, spirituality, and the occult for roughly 13 years. Being a multicultural woman of color, I have struggled to fully fit into any singular path or tradition, and thus I have formed my own over the years, based on all that I have learned and that has been taught to me.
My cultural background is a mix of indigenous South American, West-Central African, and European. I grew up catholic and went to catholic school, and though I do not consider myself a catholic, it has certainly bled over into my practice in some ways. I have sought to reclaim the practices of my ancestors throughout the years, and the work is ongoing; however, to pick between them would be a disservice to all of them and to myself, and so I have largely syncretized their practices into my own.
With that being said, despite taking into consideration my cultural and ancestral practices, most of what I do is deeply personal and largely self-created. For better or for worse, I am always seeking to reinvent the wheel. A majority of my practice has been built through experimentation, direct experience, obsession, intuition, research, and whatever manages to survive in the process.
Most of what I post is UPG. I may sometimes forget to tag upg, so it is probably safer to assume that it is. I do not claim to be an authority on anything, nor do I claim for this blog to be educational. Whatever you choose to do with my content is up to you -- I encourage you to experiment and try things for yourself as well.
Currently, I am going through a bit of a strange phase within my practice, and thus I have decided to revisit the basics (for the first time in 13 years). You will likely see a lot of that here as well.
A few things about the way I practice:
✷ I work with multiple spirits, some of which have little to no information recorded about them. I feel it is part of my calling to record information about such spirits (with their consent, obviously) and I will share what I can and what I am given permission to.
✷ I do work with spirits of the Goetia, though again, not traditionally, and not in the Solomonic way. The main spirit I work with is Duke Dantalion, and there will likely be many posts about and dedicated to him.
✷ I do not practice "love and light" magick. I have my own beliefs in regards to ethics and consequences, am pro baneful magic, and I have identified with the "left-hand path" for the majority of my spiritual journey.
✷ I become easily consumed by things and obsess over them, so you may see me going through very distinct phases.
Things I am likely to post about:
spirit work
demonolatry and demonology
deity work
forgotten, unnamed, and unrecorded entities
personal gnosis and spiritual experiences
divination, prophecy, dreams, omens, and signs
sigil and symbol work
relics, talismans, amulets, artifacts, and altered objects
spellwork and rituals
religion
servitors and artificial spirits
my own systems, rites, methods, and theories
mythology, folklore, old religions, and historical bits
whatever else follows me home
My tags:
✷ I will be posting my tag system here very soon, as soon as I have it all figured out and organized.
A few final things:
Asks and messages are always welcome, but please be respectful.
I enjoy hearing about other people’s practices, theories, and experiences.
I am not an authority, a guru, or a teacher, and nothing I post should replace your own discernment, research, or critical thinking.
If you are looking for one correct answer, you probably will not find it here. In fact, you may leave my blog with more questions than answers.
