 By the time graduation is approaching, and many high school students and college students undecided about life after school, the opportunity to take a sabbatical to travel is becoming increasingly popular. Travelling cross-country or continent can be an eye opener, especially for those of us who have had the minimum time of travel. So if you decide to take year off and travel to my advice and read these novels to get a hint about what a long period of time a trip is like. If you sit down and read one of these books, you just might get the bug to jump in the car and drive in all of Patagonia places.The first book you should read is Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck's immortal. This story follows Steinbeck after he decided to take a trip around the perimeter of the country in his truck and with his trusty right arm of a dog, Charley. This is after it became known as one of the best authors ever. His story leads him to all the outside-the-way places that most tourists would never have thought to stop and see. He hangs out with truck drivers, old-fashioned diners to eat, and also helps a few fellow travelers along the road. It digs deep into the invisible life of people living in different parts of the country and his experience in capturing this is what makes Travels with Charley, as a masterpiece. This book is a good read for anyone looking to spend time alone on the road. You will get good advice and lots of ideas.Another solitary adventure can be found in Paul Theroux's The Old Patagonian Express. This is a must-read for anyone who wants to push the limits of your travel experience. It follows Theroux as he boards a train in Boston and at end of Patagonia in Argentina months later. His story takes him through the Americas and chronicles every stop along the route. He makes a point to visit all the villages along the route of the railway, except for Nicaragua, which was in a state of agitation. This book will definitely make you want to travel to Central and South America and see countries like Costa Rica, Peru, and places such as Machu Pichu and Buenos Aires. If you are bold you might be able to follow in his footsteps, but he deliberately takes the road less traveled. In many cases Theroux could fly to any destination, but the train makes it more of a hardened traveler. Read The Old Patagonian Express and get the bug to jump on a train to anywhere.The last book you should check out is Alan Weisbecker's In Search of Captain Zero. Alan Weisbecker leaves Long Island in a desperate quest to find his long lost best friend in the depths of the rainforest of Costa Rica on its way through Central America as a vehicle for all uses on the road, stops at a large number of surf spots and the catches are so phenomenal. He is approached by bandits in the bush, it is almost caught in a revolution in El Salvador, and finds his friend deep in the throes of addiction. This book should be read by anyone trying to head on a surf trip, as did his descriptions and details of many of the places he visits along the surf way.With graduation comes a lot of decisions. If you decide to delay for one year before going to school or in the real world, read these three books to get some motivation to travel and see the world. If you can not be convinced by these authors, that perhaps the road is not for you.

Chile has not suffered from any of the plagues that have hurt European or Californian crops. It is precisely for this reason that you will notice when you walk in to this funny-shaped country that customs regulations are particularly strict and well enforced.Speaking of a funny-shaped country is most of the country speckled with vineyards. There are 14 wine-growing valleys to be specific. All the valleys are known for different varieties of wine. One of the most famous Maipo (and largest) valley is within driving distance of surprisingly sophisticated capital of Santiago. It is located in the valley that you can find vineyards belonging to some of the more internationally known wine company in Chile, Concha y Toro, Cousino Macul, and Undurraga. Having only a recognizable label is not the only sign you are a good bottle of wine. Chile has many new wineries popping up every year and everyone has something to offer.Moving with the good wine, it is not difficult to find a good wine in Chile. In fact, Chile is one of the countries where it is easiest to find a good value for quality ratio of your favorite wine. A good bottle of cabernet sauvignon will cost you around $ 10. There is much less than the average French wine. Imagine how much more beef you can buy these types of savings. Oh, and did I mention that Chile is also known for its steak? Now, what should you do when your host pours you a glass of wine? As with all Chilean meal, take most people do not have a bite until everyone at the table. It's the same with wine.
