You see, I had planned on going to March for Life since the event was posted (ubc/corpus group trip). I guess something came out of not being able to go (lack of rides to catch the 8:30am ferry).Â
On Thursday, May 14th, my alarm clock decided to flip out and go an hour behind schedule. It rang at 5:50am (what looked like 5:50am). I woke up and walked out of my bedroom and was hit with a burned scent. I thought it strange that my dad was already up making breakfast. Anyway, so by the time I changed into my internship outfit and went downstairs, my dad was getting ready to leave for work. I was confused so I asked him what time it was. Turns out, it was actually 7am!! I was gonna be late (I still had to eat breakfast and cook my lunch).Â
I ended up leaving the house at around 7:35pm. The thing is, if I hadn’t gotten on that bus, I wouldn’t have bumped in Slyvia, my friend’s cousin. We had a good chat. After we parted ways upon reaching UBC, I missed the 99. It left before I caught up to the stop. You see, it was a good thing I missed that bus. A few minutes later another one came. And a friend I hadn’t seen since high school got on the bus. I was a tad worried about her and really wanted to reach out to her. The Lord gave me the opportunity to get to know how she’s been doing and where she’s headed to. We also had a good and well needed chat.Â
I got off my stop at Sasamat and got on the 14 to my internship school. I ended up getting into the classroom one minute before the school bell rang @ 8:45am. I was soooooo happy I made it there on time! It was definitely something to be happy about. Thank the Lord! All I knew was that I had no control over anything. I only had control of what I had - myself. I had no control over when the bus would come or who I’d see on the bus. The Lord organized all of that. I don’t believe in coincidences, but that things happened for a reason. The Lord put those people in my path for a reason AND my alarm clock skipping off and going an hour behind schedule was probably His way of showing me that anything is possible with Him, that I didn’t miss M4L for nothing. He had something better planned for me.Â
The school day went well. Kids will be kids. They were quite a handful at gym, gave the sub quite a headache for sure. But they were pretty well behaved for most of the day.Â
I decided to take a stroll along 4th Ave after my shift and dropped by the library to take out a few books for the long weekend. I was looking for a mystery series author, but I couldn't remember who she was! I only knew the gist of the names of two characters in the series (Ann, Annie, Anna & Matt). I asked the Lord to help me. I had already scanned the mystery book shelves and spinning bookshelves. I thought of asking the librarian, then decided to have another look. I looked through the spinning bookshelves again and my eyes zoned in on a novel on the middle side shelf. I FOUND IT! The author was Carolyn Hart! I remember now! The Lord can work in amazing ways!! In addition to that book, I also took out three others.Â
If anyone were to ask if I ever felt the love of God, I must say that I have. In small ways and in big ones. This was definitely a big one - made up of little ones. I’ve never felt so happy and glad and blessed all at once!Â
