Remus stood in front of the mirror in his dormitory. He looked at himself, in the very tight blue and red suit he’d sown together – fixing rips because of the full moon made him quite the sewing expert though he told no one. It was tight, tighter than he’d want anything ever to be. Sirius walked in, his leather jacket on, hair up in a bouffant, and cigarette dangling out of his mouth. “What are dressed up as?”Sirius looked at him confused. “Dressed up as?” Sirius repeated, looking confused.
It took a moment for Remus to realise this was just Sirius as normal, and he shook his head, offering a quiet laugh. Sirius moved and fell onto his bed looking tired, and Remus stayed in front of the mirror dancing around trying to make it feel less tight, but all to no avail. Before long there was a wolf-whistle, and Remus spun around to face his best friend, scowling. Sirius did nothing but compliment Remus bum in the suit, which made him scowl more.
He grabbed the mask that was son his bed, and stormed out keen to avoid the embarrassment, which was turning his cheeks red. Out in the staircase, he felt even more exposed. This was stupid. He should never have suggested this. He was going to end up laughed at, Mary would see everything, actually, everyone would see everything. He walked down the stairs, feeling the eyes of everyone on him, thinking they were all making fun of him, though in truth the girls were doing anything but.
He walked up to the Room of Requirement, knowing James and Peter were inside, with Sirius obviously to follow. He slipped in, slinking off to the side to stay out of view of everyone, which didn’t quite work. James made all kinds of noise when he spotted Remus, and Peter tagged along, looking gleeful to be in the presence of James without Sirius. Remus silently hated his friends. He sighed, walking with his head hung at his own embarrassment, getting himself some of the punch, when he spotted her, standing by herself.
He smiled, knowing she’d dressed up for him. It was another moment he wished, more than words, they could just be a couple, but he knew they couldn’t. He hated it. It made him hate himself more, which was a new task. He swallowed, trying to rid himself of the butterflies, that even after all this time still appeared at the sight of her, at how breath takingly beautiful he found her. He stepped through the crowd that was obscuring him from her view, and smiled at her, his mask still in his hand. “Hi,” Remus said, his voice still alight in the amazement of her, which made him completely forget how embarrassing it was in this suit. “You look like the perfect Mary-Jane,” he said, smiling still. “Oh wait,” he placed his drink down, and put the mask on. “Now I’m your Spiderman.”
