Living in an art gallery where you can die if you’re not careful makes one much more mature much faster than they usually would. Besides, having fun was something she didn’t get to do very often with others.

"Sure! It’s still fun to play hide and seek, and if miss Rena has fun with it too, then it’ll be extra fun!"

[rena-desu]

"Yaaaaay!" The redhead cheered with an enthusiastic punch to the air. "Let's play, Ib-chan, let's play~!" She giggled, reaching down to grab Ib's hand and tug her towards the Shrine area at an even faster pace than before.

Tsukasa watched as Rena hesitated, frowning a bit. 

"Of course I remember you, Rena." He voiced, his chocolate eyes looking the female over.

"I could never forget you… You know that, right?" He was tempted to take her in his arms to hug her, but wasn’t sure if she would want that.

[rena-desu]

The petite redhead bit her lip, still squirming uncomfortably in place from how awkward she felt.

"... Right, yeah..." She muttered, not really acting like her usual self, even when upset.

Finally, she managed to muster up the courage to look up at him with a sad smile. "I guess it had just been so long, I thought maybe you might have."

"…Rena?" The boy spoke softly, as though if he spoke too loudly he’d scare her away.

[rena-desu]

She didn't respond immediately, looking down at her shoes and kicking up the dirt a bit around her.

".... Hey Tsukasa-kun." She responded finally, her own tone quiet.

"Remember me?"

[rena-desu]

"Hauuu~! Rena is a good girl~! A good girl~!"

“So this means that Rena made Santa happy? Mii☆~! Amazing! I’ll pat her on the head now.”

[rena-desu]

"Hauuuu~! Rika-chan is adowable and kind~! Hauuuuuu~!"

[rena-desu]

"Hauuu~! Rena is a good girl~! A good girl~!"

That was a surprise. Usually people would continue trying to convince her she wasn’t dreaming… At least this time that didn’t happen. As for Rena’s question…

"By having fun. Fun things are more fun when everyone doing them has fun doing it." A simple enough thing, really.

[rena-desu]

That answer certainly surprised the teen. Most kids weren't usually so quick to respond with something so mature for their age.

Smiling broadly, Rena nodded her head with enthusiasm. "Hauu~! That's very true, Ib-chan~! Very true!" She affirmed.

"Rena is still happy to play hide-and-seek if that is what Ib-chan would like to do!"

This wasn’t really the first time someone had said that. Dream people seemed really adamant that they were real.

"Well, yeah. How else would I get out of the Gallery? I promised it I wouldn’t leave, and when I had the chance to leave one time I didn’t take it. So I can’t be out of it."

[rena-desu]

Well, she was certainly persistent about her story. Was she playing some sort of pretend game? It was hard for Rena to tell...

Either way, there wasn't much Rena could do if she was being serious. She didn't know of any Galleries of any type being even remotely close by the village.

So, she decided instead to play along.

Smiling, Rena straightened up once more, crossing her arms. "Hauuu~ Rena hopes she won't be a boring dream~! A boring dream~!"

"What can Rena do to make this the best dream ever for Ib-chan~?"

[rnacroflation]

A double nod at that.

"When I go to sleep, I dream I’m in different places like now. Not all the time, but it happens a lot. Then when I go to sleep in the dreams, I wake back up back in the Gallery." Because this is totally a dream right now.

[rena-desu]

Rena stopped walking abruptly, turning around to face the younger girl. She crouched down so she was closer to eye level with her, watching her curiously with wide, blue eyes

"... You... Think you're dreaming right now?" A gallery? What on earth was she talking about? "This isn't a dream, Ib-chan... You're really here! Really!"

Hinamizawa… That was where she was? It had a weird name, But that didn’t really matter much, she guessed. Weird wasn’t uncommon for her since she’d entered the Gallery.

"Falling asleep brought me here." She still thinks it’s a dream. It isn’t a dream Ib you’re actually not in the Gallery right now.

[rena-desu]

"Falling asleep?" She repeated with a small tilt of her head. "That's a little weird. That's really all you remember?" Rena asked, a small hint of concern lacing her voice.

After all, Hinamizawa wasn't exactly the safest place to be for anyone, let alone an outsider who happened to be a little girl.

That sounded like a much safer place than the dump. More fun, too. She wasn’t sure why going inside the shrine or tool shed there would be naughty, but there was probably a good reason for it, so she nodded without questioning it.

"Don’t worry, miss Rena, I won’t. I’ll follow you close, since I don’t know where it is."

[rena-desu]

"Good!" Rena was pleased the younger girl didn't pry into it further like most little kids would. Hopefully she'd stick to her word.

Happy as a clam, Rena began to merrily walk along the dirt road towards Rika's place, a far walk to say the least.

"So! Ib-chan! If you don't mind Rena asking, what brought you to Hinamizawa in the first place~?" She asked curiously. It wasn't often the village got new visitors after all. And when they did, everyone certainly knew about it. But Rena hadn't heard anything about a little girl, or a new family coming in.

Hide and Seek? That sounded like it could be fun. Maybe in a different place than the dump though. Maybe at a park or something?

"Sure! But… Not at the dump. It’d be dangerous if someone fell in there."

[rena-desu]

A small pout crossed her features as the dump was rejected before she could even suggest it. "Awww... Fine..."

"... How about we go play near my friend Rika-chan's house! There's a lot of pretty trees near by, and the Shrine! Just don't go inside the Shrine or the tool shed, okay? That's naughty!"

… Were all high schoolers like this? All energetic and stuff? If that was the case, she never wanted to be a high schooler. Too much excitement.

"I wouldn’t lie about playing. I don’t really care what we play, so what do you wanna play, miss Rena?" She wasn’t sad anymore at least. That was very much a good thing.

"Hmmmm..." She tapped a finger to her chin as she thought, lifting it to the air as an idea struck.

"I know!" She announced, placing her hands on her hips proudly, trying to act as though she were Mion in this situation. She kind of was, wasn't she?

"We could play hide and seek! Doesn't that sound like fun~? Sound like fun~?"

"I do." She spoke with a sharp edge to her tone, finalizing the subject.

It was kind of embarrassing hearing someone go on and on about how cute they thought she was, but she was glad when the nice old man got her to let go of her. Rena seemed upset though, so maybe it wouldn’t hurt to play with her for a while?

"Miss Rena, please don’t be upset… We can play together if you want? I wouldn’t mind that. Besides, it could be fun."

"R-Really?! You would play with Rena? You would~?" Oh boy, the redhead was getting more excited with every passing second.

A new cute friend to play with, how exciting!

"Hauuu~! Rena would love that~! Would love that~! What would you like to play? Rena is up for anything! Anything at all!"
