Bio
Renee was at a young age when she figured out that she was a big part of her mother’s emotional support. There actually wasn’t a time that she remembered when her parents were together since they split by the time she was three years old.
Between the split and how much of her mother’s time was spent fretting about Ricky, Renee found her own ways to entertain herself. She created imaginary friends, played with her dolls, colored pictures of her own magic island called Daisy Meadow where she was the fair ruler that had a pet pony named Billie.
As Renee grew up and went to school, she was excited to show kids her age her creations, assuming that that was something that all young kids did, but she started to get rejected by other kids early on. Up until someone she considered a best friend told her that she wasn’t “cool enough to hang out with”, Renee truly thought she was friends with everyone. But that exchange opened her eyes and she became very introverted in elementary school.
Renee thought high school would be different, but her first group of friends there rejected her in a similar way. For most of her freshman and sophomore years, she spent her lunch periods in the library and skipped meals.
But anyone that saw Renee outside of school settings would assume everything was peachy. She didn’t want to bother others with her problems, especially when home life was so turbulent with Ricky already. She began to teach herself how to cook and fell in love with it.
Not wanting to leave her mother, Renee found a culinary school in Montpelier which was a relatively easy commute there and back each day.
Helping out at Nancy’s has been wonderful for Renee, but she’s interested in a challenge now and wants to apply for a Chef job at The DeLyle desperately... but she’s worried about leaving her mother’s side still and doesn’t fully trust that Ricky won’t cause her anymore strife.

Nancy had tried texting her daughter back and urge her to stay at The Wilson to be safe. The last thing she wanted was for her to be out and get hurt somehow. And she had tried doing the same with her son and panicked when she couldn’t get ahold of either of them. With cell service spotty, she wasn’t sure if she’d be getting ahold of either of them during the night, but at some point, she finally got a call that her daughter was in the hospital. Panicked ensued and she had Harrison drive her to the hospital. After finally getting there, she got her daughter’s room and raced there. “Renee, baby.” She said as she entered and went to her bed, touching her head. “How are you? What happened?”
Upset. Annoyed. Worried. Exhausted. All of these were feelings that were on a cycle in Renee's head. How had she been so stupid to think that she could safely travel in the storm in her beaten up 2007 Honda Fit Sport that was already in rough shape when she bought it with her own cash six years ago. Her eyes were closed as she internally reprimanded herself when she heard her mother's voice. "I- Uh... It was a car accident. That's what they told me. I-" She winced slightly as she felt Nancy's hand on her head. "I have a concussion and a broken hand." She held up her cast with a sigh.
“You were in a car accident,” she explained, “you’ve got a concussion and you’ve hurt your wrist, but otherwise you’re okay.” She pinned up the xray on the stand that had already been provided in the room. “You have a small break in your hand,” she stated, “it’s been reset and casted already and you’ll get an appointment to come back in and have it removed, ortho will schedule that with you.”
Renee’s eyes widened as she processed what Noa was saying. To be honest, she had kind of tuned everything out after hearing that she was in a car accident. Trying to piece together the night, she vaguely remembered getting to her car and driving in the storm. Why hadn’t she just left with Harrison and her mom? Her eyes traveled to the x-ray and she began to panic. “Wait.. my hand is broken? But... I mean, how am I supposed to cook with one hand..?” She groaned and let her head fall back against the pillow under her head.
Harrison had stepped away from Nancy for a moment to give her a chance to mingle with people she knew, and went to grab a drink. On his way back, he met with Nancy’s daughter. “I was planning on being a few minutes later anyways out of protest. Your mom knows I don’t like to wear a tie.” he said lightly. “But the weather kept me out later than I thought. It’s pretty bad out there.” he glanced out the window at the falling snow. “If it gets worse, you could always ride with your mom and I. I’ve got four wheel drive and you can come back for your car tomorrow.” he offered.
“Funny place to come if you don’t like ties,” Renee joked, smiling at Harrison. She drew in a breath and nodded, having looked out the windows of The Wilson a few times. “Yeah, it looks so picturesque from in here, but I can imagine. And thanks. That’s a sweet offer. I think I’ll be okay though- I know Mom has to head to the anti-Valentine’s Day party, right? I need to stick around for the auction.”
“I am certainly not lying to you.” Avery gave her a look. Yeah, Noa was now her something but it didn’t mean that she was putting everyone else off. The two had actually a pretty healthy balance. They see each other almost every day, perks of working together. But, Avery still had her time with her friends and her family. “I don’t need to pay to go out on a date with that beauty.” Avery smirked. “She’s already coming home with me.” But, if Noa had gone up for auction, she would have bid on her and made sure she won. “I’m really proud of you. Definitely did something I never would.”
Renee rolled her eyes at Avery, as if to say “yeah, yeah- whatever you say.” She didn’t know how the blonde had such luck with falling for someone she worked with, but there was definitely a part of her that was jealous of it. The brunette was fairly unlucky in that department. “I guess that’s true,” she shrugged softly. “You two are doing well though, right?” A laugh came from her. “Really? You’d never do something like this?”
Neena would be lying if she said she hated any moment of the auction. Of course she had loved it. The woman had soaked up every moment of being the center of attention. And people betting on her for a date? Oh, it only stroked her ego. She grinned and blew a small kiss to the woman who finally won her in the end as she was ushered off stage. Finally, after, she strutted towards her through the crowd. But for once, Neena Wagner didn’t get the first word. Renee Thompson. Neena remembered the girl slightly from school, two years older than her and relatively quiet given she didn’t have any true memories of the other only seeing her for all of her life around town. “Why would I be upset?” Neena asked, laughing and grinning. She had been pleased the other had tried to win her so hard. “I wish, but the closest I’ve ever been to a murder is in my research. It’s actually pretty boring if you are going to compare me to the show.” Laughing, she flipped some of her glossy hair over her shoulder. “You don’t sound crazy. Renee, right?” She asked with her charming smile and held out a hand to shake. “Congrats on winning me. I’m all yours now.” With a wink she let out another laugh and was so pleased they would be able to bond over her podcast at the least.
Renee’s breath had gotten caught in her throat when she watched Neena walk towards her. So much so that it was a wonder she managed to ramble on when they finally came face to face. She supposed that it was because the brunette got used to the fact that the other took her breath away years ago. But problem was, Neena had only gotten more beautiful since high school and it flustered Renee way more than it should. “Well, I can’t imagine anything that you do is boring...” she cleared her throat. Her eyes widened as Neena said her name and she nodded slowly. “Y-yeah, Renee. That’s me.” She let out a small nervous laugh. “What- What do you like to do for fun?”
He really didn’t think this all out really. He did dress up nice as well as he could and brushed his hair and cleaned up his beard so he looked fine enough. But with everyone else in the auction he looked like a bum to them. “Being damn crazy” he laughed. “But just for the cause, and I thought it be funny” for the poor soul who won him. But really he was doing it for the fun of it all. “What about you?”
Renee shrugged gently, letting out a small laugh. "I guess for similar reasons? A bit of crazy and for the cause." She moved her hands over her hair to smooth it out a bit. "Also, I just wanted to do something out of character. I think most people would be shocked to see my name on the list."
A smile crossed Beyza's face as Renee waved to her. She knew the younger woman from both growing up in town and the fact that her son, Devrim, loved going to Nancy's for the food. "Hey!" She smiled at her as she got closer. "Thank you. You look amazing too. Red looks perfect on you." The woman complimented her. "It's alright. Not too bad. How about you? I saw your name on the date auction options. Are you excited?"
Her cheeks blushed gently at the comment on her appearance as she glanced down at the outfit again. She had second guessed herself multiple times about the dress so there was a certain amount of comfort that it did actually look good. "Thanks," she replied sincerely. "Yeah, I am. It's part of a... pushing myself out of my comfort zone kinda thing. So I think part of me is terrified and another part of me is excited." She shrugged gently. "How's your son?"
Noa was working very much outside of her comfort zone but she was working, and it was helping to regulate her mind. Avery was resting, something she very much needed, so Noa decided to see some patients, it was closer to normal than sitting by Avery’s bedside or in the waiting room. She held the file in one hand as well as the x-ray results as she pushed open the curtain. “Hey Renee,” she said greeting the other, despite knowing each other through Avery she wanted to remain professional, “I’ve been asked to give you your x-ray results.”
It hadn’t been very long since Renee woke up and realized she was laying in a hospital bed. She honestly couldn’t remember much of the night... or how she got to the hospital. But she could see the cast on her hand and the glare of the lights giving her a headache. “Hey..” She replied softly, squinting a little. “...I’m guessing nothing good is on that x-ray...” A moment passed. “Do you know how I ended up here?”
Laughing playfully at her little cousin, Avery shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal. She’d honestly pay as much as was required to get Renee for the date. The last thing she wanted was some creeper getting a date with her. “You are the only one I’m interested in hanging out with.” Avery smirked, not really looking for any one to date other than the woman she showed up to the event with. “I was surprised you even did this.”
“Okay, you don’t have to lie to me,” Renee replied with a laugh. “We both know there’s someone else you would rather hang out with but she wasn’t up for the auction.” She gave a small shrug, glancing away. “I wanted to try and do something... out of my comfort zone. And this definitely was.”

"So," Renee started when she finally saw Harrison at the event, "are you fashionably late?" She quirked an eyebrow up at him. "I swear every time I glanced at Mom she was checking the time on her phone." She tutted softly. "Are you in trouble?" Renee teased, snickering.

Her hands clapped a little as she smiled big at Neena. Renee started walking over to the other after her auction was over and grinned. "Okay, I hope you're not upset about me winning but I am obsessed with your podcast and I truly want to know more about it. Although part of me is really hoping that it's just like Only Murders In The Building, but I think that show probably isn't entirely accurate, huh?" She finally stopped talking to take a breath. "I probably sound crazy right now, don't I? I swear I'm... relatively normal, I think, right?" She asked the other before letting out a small laugh.

Renee leaned against a table near the stage where the auctions were happening. She had a lot of regrets about the shoes she had chosen to wear but at this point, she needed to power through. Glancing over at the other, she smiled. "So what made you decide to put yourself up in the auction?"

Renee stepped out into the hallway as a way to calm her nerves about being a part of the auction when she caught sight of Nora. She hesitated for a moment but ultimately figured that it was better to keep talking to someone rather than get in her head too much with the fear of no one bidding on her. "Nora? How are you? Enjoying the evening?"

Renee bumped into Lenny gently and reached out to grab her arm to steady them both as she headed for the hallway of The Wilson. "Oh, geez. I'm sorry, Lenny. I just wanted to see if I'd get better service in the hallway.. I haven't heard from my mom since she left. And I know the weather is getting kinda nasty so I'm just worried," She finally drew in a breath, shaking her head gently. Then her eyes widened. "Oh my goodness, you look stunning. Definitely like a mayoress," she grinned.
She had waited too long to leave The Wilson- that much had become clear as she got into her car to head back to her apartment. Once the announcement had been made, Renee had started checking on everyone around her to make sure that they were safe or knew what they were going to do to get to safety. It was just part of her nature- wanting to make sure that others were okay and taken care of. She'd been like that her whole life in one way or another, looking after her mother whenever she needed a shoulder to lean on because of whatever Ricky had done. She was the dependable one after all. The brunette was having mixed feelings about that role more lately, but it didn't matter at the moment.
The belt on her coat was tied tightly as Renee finally left The Wilson and walked to her car in the lot. The weather was already so terrible, she could hardly see the vehicle before she was right in front of it. A sigh of relief came from her lips when she finally got into the car and changed her shoes. It was a saving grace that she'd decided to stuff a pair of boots in the car before heading to the auction so she could get out of her heels.
Sitting in the lot while the car did its best to warm up, Renee sent a quick text to her mother and brother - "Leaving The Wilson now. Headed back to my apartment. Hope you're both safe and staying warm. ❤️" Finally giving in, she buckled her seatbelt and started driving as carefully as she could. Each minute that passed made it more and more difficult to see the road or any markings, but thankfully she figured that she was the only person stupid enough to be out on the road at this point. Unfortunately, she was wrong and the flash of the lights from a car coming towards her caused the brunette to swerve right into a patch of ice. Losing control of the car, it rolled over into a ditch onto the driver's side. Her left hand crushed between the steering wheel and door while her head whacked the headrest before the airbags deployed.
She had lost consciousness for a few moments before coming to and realizing she couldn't move her hand. Groaning, she used her free hand to try and reach her phone on it's windshield mount. She could vaguely make out the words "No Service" on the phone. "No... no, no! Help!" She yelled as if there was anyone nearby to hear her. She hit the Emergency button and just hoped that it would go through.
It felt like a million years before EMTs finally got her out of the car. She had been getting closer and closer to shutting her eyes, between hitting her head and being unable to move. "What's your name?" "Um... R-Renee Thom-Thompson."
Everything else was a blur to her until she woke up in a hospital bed, the fluorescent lights causing her to squint and wince from the pain in her head. But her head was the last thing on her mind when she raised her hand to find it covered in a cast. How was she supposed to cook with a broken hand?

Stepping off the stage, Renee quickly made her way over to Avery and tapped her shoulder. "$155??? Are you crazy???" She shook her head and sighed. "I can't believe you're paying $155 to hang out with me of all the people that got up on that stage," she let out a small laugh. "But I appreciate it- I was worried no one would bet on me, honestly."
